OPPO Find X7 Ultra Explained - A Biased Intro to "the Ultimate Camera Phone"

- OPPO has just announced the Find X7 Ultra for China, with its quad-main camera, two periscope cameras, and second-generation 1-inch camera sensor. OPPO's calling it the ultimate camera phone, and I'm inclined to agree based on the specs. While I haven't tried a final version of this phone, here's a quick video explaining why it looks so great and specifically, why its camera specs outperform so much of the competition.

I don't want global version, I will order Chinese one (call recording, and many other features). Price is not a problem. I might wait for Huawei p series pro +.

OPPO have been delivering incredible cameras for a while now - periscope tech blew me away the first time I tried it. And this sounds like it's an even bigger step up overall. That sensor looks crazy. Really excited to track one down.

Do you get Chinese notifications on your X6? I had the Vivo X90 Pro Plus and just got annoyed with all the notifications from their app store. Ended up selling it.

I wish smartphone companies would make the main cameras of smartphones 35mm instead of 23/24mm. That way we could get those classic 35mm - 50mm shots without too much loss of detail
What's good about 1-inch sensors is that at 35mm, you have an in-sensor crop that isn't far off other flagships. I agree with you to a point, but I wouldn't want to rely on my ultra-wide for a 14mm-35mm range as ultra-wides tend to have weaker sensors and slower apertures.
@@tech_edit yeah I know there’s always a tradeoff. Personally I don’t even need an utlrawide but smartphones has to please the masses so the exclusion of one wouldn’t be good. I just hope the 2x crop (46mm equivalent) is high enough resolution to be usable as this is probably the focol length I’d be using the most
@@johgus96jg the vivo x100 pro produces better images cropped in than the z60 ultra which as a native 35mm lens, so I think this phone should do well.
Non ever. Have Nubia z50s pro that deliver best 35 mm - optical - than Oppo find X6 pro and pixel 7 pro (both cropped) . Have that 3 phones, tested with stock and gcam camera.
Oppo is good at zoom cameras. I'm using the Oppo Reno 10 Pro Plus with a 64 periscope camera that has 3X optical zoom and 120 digital range and it's great. From 1X to 6X are all optical zoom
Only 1x,3x are optical in Ov64b 64 mp Periscope...2x and 6x are digitally cropped from main sensor...Get your basics right
I really hope it'll come to the UK market. I'd buy this in a heartbeat.

@@SquidHunting android auto目前的运行策略发生改变，如果系统没有内置这款程序，后期安装也无法使用。这个问题我实在2023年夏天，在我的find x3 pro上遇到的，但是那台支持android auto的车已经卖了，我现在无法确定是否已经可用还是仍然不可用。我的手机目前只发现这一个软件无法使用，其他的google程序都可以正常使用。我购买的find x7 ultra正在从中国发往加拿大的路上，等我收到后我再试试。

Yeah, they might not have as much reach as the iPhone, but for me, they have more usable reach. The Find X7 Ultra covers those caps at the top end too - excited to use it some more. Have a great day - Basil

Excellent video, first time came across your views. I am in the process of buying a phone in next 2months. Currently using one plus 8t. Mevwr uses a non uk phone, but this phone does look like a beast. How long are the security & updates for? Also have you got a video on how to use a Chinese/korean phone in uk? Anything to know or avoid. Subbd btw👍

Hey Zee, thanks for the comment. I'm pretty sure it won't be coming to the UK, but I have used other China-only Oppo phones in the UK without struggling. That depends on your specific needs though. I'll be using this and will document what it's like to use on-import. As for the charging cycles, I'll ask Oppo for more info on that and see if there's enough there for a video - Basil

Comparing Oppo x7 ultra vs Xiaomi 14 ultra which is better in performance, main camera, and selfie camera?
As a Current Oppo Find X5 Pro owner (Love it)... and a long-term Oneplus owner for many years before that,
I am extremely disappointed that there is no European/UK release date for the Find X7 Ultra.
Rumour has it that Oppo has finally settled their dispute with Nokia So we Could potentially see a UK release date later in the year 🤞🤞🤞.
Otherwise I may have to eventually either go Samsung or Google which is a shame.
Never looked at OPPO but it sounds interesting not sure it's going to prize me away from my Xperia 1V but let's wait till it's out in the wild eh!
I had a Oppo Reno 2 and it was great. Currently got an Oppo Find X5 Pro that I got for a steal! I'll definitely but this Oppo if this is global release!

I don't think vs the vivo x100 pro this phone will be worth the extra price, because as you say, they both do AI upscaling on zoom, plus the oppo as a smaller battery.
I'm curious to compare them. The Find X7 Ultra has a newer 1-inch sensor, further reach and larger camera sensors, so its hardware has the edge. I think a lot will come down to personal preference with processing. Also, excited for battery tests as the Vivo X100 Pro has performed worse than some 5000mAh battery phones I've seen - bit of a MediaTek vs Snapdragon going on too. Thanks for the comment! - Basil

I bought this from china...and its fantastic...better tha iphine 15 pro my other phone.
The problem is there isn't a good distribution of the phone in EU. No X6 Pro in EU and now.... maybe the same.

No idea how long, but just import it if you want it.
Oppo Find X8 will be global. They reached an agreement with Nokia in January and Vivo has global phones

- Multi frame noise Reduction is broken, making stationary object to move.
- Face detection can't be turned off in videos and causes huge exposures raises for no reason just because it detected a face.
- DOL-HDR option doesn't exist on the camera app even though it's advertised inside the phone as a feature.
- exposure compensation in video is broken, locking exposure instead of compensate exposure.
- front camera also has face detection and is even worse raising exposure when it detects a face like crazy.
- no manual options to record videos.
- overexposed videos / overshapening
- No oficial flashing tool Avaliable for the users, no root, no nothing
- telephoto camera blocked in all apps, you can only use it in stock camera, yes the phone you paid for with 3 cameras you can not use it in any app you always because OPPO blocks it on Camera2api.
- P010 hardware acceleration codec not enabled.
I could go all day man....the software sucks, it's a mess they don't even know the difference between exposure compensation x exposure locking.
