Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am not starting 12 projects for NYE... there is no way! I had a Christmas Day / evening start but this year is the year of whittling down my 12 wips and stitching from stash sounds like a wonderful idea. I can't wait to match up some patterns to fabrics.
I did my first season start on Winter day. January will depend on Magazine Monthly Challenge calls. There is a new start in there somewhere. Not Christmas or New Year’s this year. I made a list of if I finish A, I can start B, if I finish C, I can start D in an effort to not start more things and make significant progress on what I have going. Some things are more priority, but none have deadlines.

Wow. So many pretty finished projects!! Good for BOTH of you! Hope you had a Merry Christmas. I couldn't do 12 WIPs/starts in 12 hours if my life depended on it! That is so not my cup of tea. I'm like you, Jennifer--I don't think I have 12 WIPs. That stresses me out, so I avoid things like that. Hope it warms up for you soon. We are receiving the much needed rain here in California. I am thinking of doing the 12x12 and will probably do 1/2 and half. No new start for Christmas. Both of the memory quilts are amazing. Hope today you had a wonderful time with family I hope the New Year brings you good health and much joy! Thank you for taking the time to do these videos.

So pleasant to spend time with you. Love all your projects. The quilt that has memory fabrics in it is so touching, what a heartfelt gift. I'm sure the quilt will mean so much to your friend. And Carol, a king sized quilt, oh my goodness! It turned out beautifully.
Jennifer, your knitted pillow pieces look great, and I apologize for laughing when I saw it (I don't really apologize, I can't help that they'd make a decorative and large bra for someone lol). Carol laughed too, so I'm just keeping her company. I expect the pillow will be very pretty (and un-bosom like) when blocked and finished 😁
In the next few days, I'll decide what I want to stitch next year, and will start one early in the year, though probably not January 1st as I'm trying to finish my current pattern. Wishing you both good health and happiness in the new year.
(12/26) - It's been snowing here since Thursday, so go ahead and stitch your winter piece, Jennifer! And Carol, I didn't remember that you showed something before, so go ahead! It might make an impression when for the first showing a viewer was distracted. So thank you. Am plugging along on a somewhat big piece, so am pondering how to work in some of the too many projects waiting for attention. Thinking of working on the bigger projects (I've discovered I am really a monogamous stitcher) but doing 25/7 for one small project, but not putting aside the larger one, and when the small project is done, do another and so work through those. Ditto for the larger ones. Have to make a list! Happy 2023!
I missed the last poll but I'm in line with the overall opinion. I mostly do medium but am enjoying doing smalls, Christmas ornawements & bookmarks as little gifts. I enjoy finishing awell 😌 I have a few large projects kitted (two quilting cross- stitches.) And I'm not a quilter but do sew!

Both of your quilts today were beautiful! I don't do starts for special occasions. I've decided to stitch a season ahead in 2023. I have one Christmas project to finish by the end of the week then it's on to spring stitching!

My daughter lost her husband this year and a friend had bears made from his favorite shirts. The bears were for her, his children and grandchildren. My daughter sleeps with her bear. I'm sure that your friend will treasure the quilt you made for her, full of treasured memories. With the passage of time, those will be happy memories not full of grief. She will love it.

The bears made from shirts as so great - I’ve seen them too and think it’s a wonderful memorial project.

Does SYS2023 include quilting? Thinking of doing the NYE but I don’t have it together yet. I’ve been sick, was suppose to have family Christmas the 31st, now my grandson has Influenza A and the possibility of that spreading through that family.

Then my New Year start was a temperature chart by Stitching Mommy. I bought her new Quaker chart for 2023. They are so pretty made up and everyone’s is different. I started Prairie Schooler The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve. It would be fun to finish it before next Chrsitmas. My WIP count hovers just over 30 so I picked 5 projects that I thought I could finish in December and I am almost done with the fourth of those. The fifth will probably bleed over into January. I also fully finished four ornaments for gifts this week so I am feeling like I want to do the New Year's Eve thing. I may stitch on 6 projects for 2 hours each and there will be probably one new start in there. It's a cardinal biscornu from the Feb. 2022 issue of Just Cross Stitch. I have never done one and you guys have inspired me. I do look forward to your videos. Your mother-daughter relationship is so sweet. All the best in 2023.

Finally. about 5 years ago I wised up and delegated all wrapping to the husband. He is fully capable. Jennifer, your finished ornaments are so pretty! I am not a hardanger person and I think your finish is exquisite! Well done! I hope you re enjoying your time off work and are getting a lot of crafting done. I did have a Christmas start last year but not this year. Too much time in the kitchen. I am planning a New Years Day start and I do most years. That day is much more relaxed here in our house. Lovely work, Ladies!!! I always enjoy seeing your projects of every sort!! I'm looking forward to seeing more next year! I did make a Christmas start and I'll start my first full-coverage piece on NYE. My plan for 2023 is to work on WIPs and things I have already kitted up, both of which I have more than plenty to keep me busy. I would also like to make major progress on at least one of the two afghans I'm crocheting, finish a pair of socks, sew some clothing for myself, and make my first quilt. Gulp! I will either have a lot of really cool stuff or a nervous breakdown by this time next year! hahahaha!

This is the first year that I decided to start something on Christmas day, Christmas Tiny Town. New Years day, I will be starting one of three charts every 2 hours till I have to start cooking! Blackbird Loose Feathers charts. Cannot decide if I will do a triptic or individuals as yet...🤔 but hey, I have a week 🤣 Love your videos, your stitching, quilting and knitting/ crochet. 2022 was a very hard year for us, looking forward to healing hearts and fabulous needlework! the quilts that you made were wonderful and my only comment is - they make quilt patterns smaller than king size? LOL - the first 2 quilts that I did were both king size and I have 2 more kings that I just need to assemble and yes they are very heavy and I generally have a table behind my machine to hold the fabric as I sew.. I don't generally do New Year Day starts or Christmas starts, but did start 14 new projects between 12/13 and 12/31 this year, which is unusual for me.

The first week of the new year will be spent going through patterns, kitted up designs and needlepoint canvases to decide what will be 2023 Christmas gifts. I do an ornament for each great-niece/nephew (11) and something for each niece/nephew (6&6) and siblings, a few family members, and close friends. I'm hoping most of these projects will come out of stash and I can get started on them early so I can pick and choose what and when to work on each piece. Of course, I'll stitch my own projects too. Wishing you and your families much happiness and good health in the New Year!

I loved making bias binding when I quilted.
No new starts for Christmas or New Years Eve. My birthday is in the first week of December so I try to start something then.
This New Years Eve, 3-4 of us are going to have a FaceTime stitch along. Should be a fun night.
After I took all my husbands clothing to goodwill, our daughter asked if I had any of dads shirts.😢 I guess I should have left his clothes in the closet for a year.
Three quilts out of his shirts would have been great for the kids.
But my mind was not on quilts at that time. Took almost 2 years before I could focus beyond the estate side of things and just daily tasks. I will pass that idea onto others who have lost a loved one. As I know where their minds are at this time.

Love the meaningful quilts 💕. My mom made my husband a t-shirt quilt and I had given her my t-Shirts before she passed for mine. When we were cleaning out her things, I found the box of my cut shirts, along with the fabric she has selected. I would like to figure out how to make the quilt. No new starts or WIPS for me. Hand surgery right before thanksgiving takes me out of stitching till February at the earliest ☹️. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!!
You might check to see if there is a quilt guild near you - there might be someone there who could make the quilt for you or who would be willing to work with you and teach you to make it. T-shirt quilts aren't really that hard, it's most important to stabilize the shirts.
My first passion is quilting so I love to see and hear you talk about the quilts. Love the one behind you. After many years I got back into cross stitch I love the look on linen. I've got a good collection going, lol. No more charts for awhile. Hope your water issue is fixed. Happy New Year to you both. I never have a cross stitch start line up with a special day...a holiday, etc, just because I am too busy on a holiday with family, cooking, etc, it's not conducive for me to sit and stitch. The closest I have come is a new start during my birthday month, not on the actual day.

I am in the midst of a queen size tshirt quilt…prepping it for the sandwich…I would love to finish it in my break. Did you bind the king size by hand? I am not that brave. I won’t be doing 12 x 12…my happy place is doing one piece at a time and getting it done. To be honest, my intense Christmas stitching is now done and I am looking at spring patterns. Happy New Year.
I did not stitch the binding by hand. I would still be doing it! It is 114 x 114 inches.

Nashville, TN saw crazy cold temps and we burst our pipes; luckily, we kept electricity and managed okay. It was definitely a Christmas to remember! I hope you have a happy New Year! I certainly hope she paid you for the quilting. I've found that people who are not crafty have absolutely no idea how time consuming creating can be! I know that for me just the planning stages takes as much time as actually making 🙃

I had Fruits of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery kitted up to start on Christmas Day night. It only calls for two colors, so the kitting was easy. Because I have little or no self control, I ended up starting it a week before Christmas. Ha, ha. I love stitching it and although it was a SAL with 12 pages, one page per month, I'm going to do two pages a month so I'll have it done to enter it in our town' fall fair. I have a new project called "temperature tree" by Stitching Mommy that I will be putting in leaves (I already stitched the tree) for the different temperatures for my town which is in western PA. It should be fun. Lots of colors and I'm realling looking forward to it. I'll record the the highs here and then I'll do a week at a time for leaves. It should be cool.
I am doing a temperature chart too - will share on our next video - I can’t decide whether to do average or high…will have to make up my mind in the next few days!
The same thing happened here in my Iowa house, Carol. The pipes to the upstairs bathroom froze. A hairdryer managed to solve the problem. Those winds were fiercely cold and strong. Never had that happen before. All is well now.

People who don’t quilt or cross stitch have no idea the amount of time it takes! A friend was asked to do a t-shirt quilt in 3 days! My friend had only made one and really didn’t know this person, so she had no trouble saying no.😂

Hi gals. Merry Christmas. My new start for Christmas is a Leisure Arts, Noble Companions Book 2, Santa and Bear. Can't find a way to insert a picture. Int is gorgeous. I am putting it on a FabricFlair 14 ct Aida called Creationist Blue. This is a big one for me. It will finish at 8.25 x 10.

Thank you for this year, I look forward to every visit with you both. I usually spend the last couple weeks cleaning up projects and deciding what goes into the new year with me. I have a New Year start that is a large project so that might be my only project initially.
