Post up your whole speech on FB like every other normal person LOL But her speech is deep though...calling out the committee for their weaknesses ! Honestly, that should've been sorted way way before the pageant.

it is the best place to discuss it, the setting it broadcasted to thousands of people at that time and would reach many more after being published. I don't see why people feel the need to determine 'what a good place this speech should've been spoken in' etc, when she did a good job speaking on behalf of females in such a toxic cultural community
the reason why this got so much traction is because she didn’t do what the “normal” person does! she confidently stood her ground in front of everyone and said what NEEDED to be said!

Nothing went wrong with the competition, she is speaking up for Tonga to try and save us from our kingdom being taken from us. The crowd was supporting her because I believe a royal was present so she spoke up about it. I don't even know if you are Tongan, but even if you weren't, from one poly to another, we need to support each other when their own culture won't.
I'm not Tongan but feel proud of this young lady for speaking out on behalf of all those that were and are being bullied. Islanders, no matter which, as of our upbringing, respect and love is our motto, well done 2018 miss heilala queen.
At least she gave you a warning that her speech was long and not just talk...the least the crowd could’ve done was let her say the speech that she obviously spent a lot of time on🤦🏽♀️

Regardless the legnthy speech, she was addressing an important message to her people. And the audience was being rude as heck. I'm a proud 85% Samoan part Tongan and Fijian, and I find this rection from the crowd completely toxic. She had every right to speak and they should have given her that respect. That platform was there for a reason and she utilized it very well with honor and respect for her people even when that typical crowd tried to mess it up. She warned the crowd that her speech was 15-16 mins long and they act as if they didn't know. I stand with her and everything she effortlessly spoke for. And the owner of this video, speeding up this process makes him stand with that hate.

The best part is when her brother and mother stood behind her alongside with the contestants 😍😍 but my heart was broken when they cut off the mic and the dj play the music while people are screaming and yelling 💔💔 that is so disrespectful and a big disgrace...love you girl

Congratulations to the pathetic organisers of this event. In the space of a few hours, you have dished out two repulsive and disgusting servings.
First of all, Miss Pacific Islands
(Leoshina Kariha) was exposed to abuse by a prominent politician yelling racial taunts from the VIP Box. This poor girl came to Tonga from PNG in the spirit of unity, inclusion, and friendship. She did not deserve that low blow.
And then a top official ordered staff to drown out (reigning Miss Heilala) Kalo Funganitao's speech with loud music. I applaud her bravery in calling out the Organising Committee for all their failings. Trying to shut her out was childish and shameful.
Thankfully, on the same evening we also witnessed something so so beautiful. And that is the collective show of support from ALL contestants on stage.
That group hug at the end was a very strong statement.
That's why this Samoan stands behind all the Tongan people unfairly tainted by the actions of a few fools.
By cutting her of while shes speaking the truth shows more disrespect a beauty pageant title winner speaks up and makes a voice for themselves. The host show that shes correct in her words and by cutting the volume the mic makes it worst. Good on her I say.

After the mic being cut and loud music being played to drown her out the message I got was the goal of miss heilala is to keep things hidden and bottled up but the message the mc got was The goal of miss Heilala is to empower women support women to encourage women to be confident and not only to show off the outer beauty but the inner beauty that lays within...

It be your own people smh. People are so judgemental And they wonder why they have family that dont turn up to family functions. As a culture we talk about fakaapaapa towards eachother especially women yet its been just disrespect since the beginning of this pageant. We claim to be the friendly islands but failed to display that during this pageant week. Everything we stand for as a culture and pride ourselves on was not shown whatsoever.. just disgusting behaviour from our people. Doesnt matter what she did or said or if there was a better time and place blah blah blah no one deserves to be treated and humiliated like that. Period. She's a pretty Tongan and this comes out of respect. The Tongan should be supportive and to show her love. It's her people and they need to come together to be one, not many. Because at the end of the day, you guys are all related somehow. The Samoan culture is always supportive even if they don't agree on it. She should have condensed of what she needed to say in 10 minutes. The event has schedules. The event didn't belong solely to her. It was great that she spoke but the platform wasn't hers or belonged to her.
Well the event started 2hrs late is that scheduled? No matter how long her speech was gonna be the key factor is RESPECT she was the reigning miss Heilala and they should’ve given her a chance to speak. Her speech could have turned out to be constructive for the committee but flipped into destructive mode the moment they switch that mic off. See what a few seconds of bad decision caused?
Go to a doctor then cause you clearly got A.D.H.D. surely if you can scream and chant mate ma'a Tonga for hours on end then you can spare a few minutes to listen to a speech that virtually speaks the truth. Bitchass nigga. Don't @me I ain't got the time.
The whole point was respect. Regardless her lengthy speech, she had something import to address her people and she did just that. A preacher can talk for a whole hr and we still sit through it all. *THERE SHOULD BE NO EXCUSES TO BE MADE.*

I have nothing but respect for this young lady. The Miss Heilala is suppose to be a safe haven for upcoming Young Woman who wants to make a difference. Why tune her off?
