Pokémon Z did exist at some point because of the Anime.
They couldn't finish because they left so much stuff out the original so they had to make a 1000000000 hour long game
If I recall, they couldn't decide on a good design. They MADE a design (pretty sure multiple,) but didn't like them.

@Mod MakerI agree. A video of a small TH-camr called "Lewtwo" actually presents the whole thing well I think.
"Z" probably has been in the works, but they ran out of time because they needed to finish Sun/Moon in time for the 20th anniversary. So Z version was scrapped.
Another thing that imo points in that direction is the fact, that Kalos is the only region without a followup game reusing and improving the new region in it's debut generation.
Gen 1 had Yellow, Gen 2 had Crystal, Gen 3 had Emerald, Gen 4 had Platinum, Gen 5 had Black 2/White 2, Gen 7 had Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon. And you guessed it, nothing for Gen 6, being the only one that sticks out in that regard.

The eagle who sits atop Yggdrasil is supposed to take flight only once; when Nidhogg gnaws through the roots of the world-tree, one of the signs that heralds the beginning of Ragnarok.
Yveltal brings death when it flaps its wings.
I think THAT has to be the connection, if we're going with the Norse inspiration.

I personally think that zygarde in its base 50% form is the coolest design dragon type pokemon because zygarde is a dragon/ground type and it is based on the dragon nidhogg 🐉 that resides on the roots of the world tree 🌳 and zygarde perfect form is basically a humanoid dragon 🐉 with 5 heads, 1 humanoid head and 4 serpent heads and zygarde perfect form has 5 heads and zygarde looks like a humanoid 5 headed dragon 🐉 that has powers that overpowers both xerneas and yveltal

I like how these three's designs are so different to each other:
Xerneas: I am a majestic dear with antlers that represent the world tree. A beautiful creature.
Zygard: I represent the cells of beings and also bring order to life and death.

Pokemon x was the first game i ever played
Just throwing this out there: there is a Celtic god of life, fertility, animals, and wealth named Cernunnos, who is depicted with stag Horns. His name sound similar enough to to Xerneas that there might be some inspiration there too

I think Xerneas is named after Cernunnos, and possibly Christ (the "X", which is an age-old shorthand for "Christ").
Not to mention Morrigan, Celtic goddess of death, who has the ability to turn into a crow. And yveltal is sort of crow like

I remember in middle school I helped myself (and another student) remember the difference between the x and y axis on a plane by saying x is horizontal because xerneas is of the land, y is vertical because yveltal can fly, and origin means zero because in their dormant forms, xerneas is rooted as a tree (cant move anywhere) and yveltal is in an egg form and cant fly yet (also the egg looked kind of like a 0)
For what it's worth for Norse connections, Zygarde's cells, cores, and 50% form all only have one eye.

I have a little theory about the dimension trio.
You once made a video how giratina would represent gravity. What if the three respresent many things?
Time Space Gravity
Solid Liquid Gas
Force Matter Antimatter
Wave Particle Quantum object
Solid liquid and gas are already an other theory and it matches their types.
Force is always dependend on time and matter always needs space. Antimatter is confirmed by pokemon itself.
The last ones are a bit lose snd also dependend on the other representations. Waves are made by an force, often accosiated with water and also depend on time (frequency).
Particles are kind of equivalent to matter. Giratina has two forms, while quantum objects are a wave and a particle at the same time. Both also have kind of ghostly properties.
Also notice how all the things giratina represents are potentially very destructive or seemingly defy the laws of physics.
I think we can interpret many things in pokemon gamefreak didnt even intend.

The gen 6 trio actually reminds me of the main trio of hindu 'deities' (it's complicated); how one creates (Xerneas), one maintains/keeps order (Zygarde) and another destroys (Yveltal)

I forgot where I found this info, but as I loosely recall, they may also take inspiration from bodily systems.
Xerneas = nerves, the central nervous system
Yveltal = veins, the circulatory system
Zygarde = muscles, the muscular system (I think?? I could be mistaken on that last one...)

There are other versions of Norse mythology where the dragon eats the roots and the eagle rips through the branches with wind, while a squirrel runs between them egging them on

Man, I love your videos and your insight on one of my favorite series. But the costant camera motion in this vid nearly made sick. As a design choice, I applaud you for trying something different and expanding your style, but this might not have been the best choice.

Zygarde’s origins is the plot for Thor: Ragnarok
Inwas thinking about creating a fourth member of the Aura Trio. This new member of the trio will be a purple and black aquatic creature that resembles the letter W and the W-axis, similar to how Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde all resemble the letters X, Y, and Z as well as their respective axes. It will represent chaos, the opposite of Zygarde representing order.
This new Pokemon idea I have is called Walafgufrost, a Water/Ice type whose ability is Frigid Water Aura and learns two signature moves: Ocean Storm and Chaotic Freeze.

Zygarde seems to resemble a 1 dimensional line, while Yveltal looks sort of flat and 2d, and Xerneas is the most 3d of the trio.

I think Zygarde and Nidhogg/Jörmungandr could work as the Z axis if you think about the two snakes as being wrapped around Yggdrasil and the World. When you're wrapped around something you can be both on the near and the far side of that thing and from that you get the third dimension even in a two dimensional drawing.
Kind of like the metaphor of the flea and the acrobat for travel between the realms.

I've always thought of the last composition of Disney's Fantasia 2 when thinking of Xerneas and Yveltal. The Fire Bird born from a cacoon in a volcano to cause destruction, death and take life by ravaging the lands. Afterwards, Nature or the godess of nature riding atop a stag brings life to the forest that was burned and turns the black wasteland left by the fires into a green haven once more. Don't know if maybe there was some inspiration there but it seemed to convenient.

Biggest Missed Opportunity is That zygarde Never Receives its Own Game, Pokémon Z Or Pokémon X and Y Version 2, That’s A Shame Since zygarde is One Of The Best Legendaries Lore Wise, it’s The Order Pokémon & Protects The Ecosystem/Earth From Threats, And zygarde Have An Awesome Design, 50% zygarde is A Serpent Dragon With Many Heads, One Main Serpent Heads & The Back Serpent Heads in its Back & Perfect zygarde is A 5 Headed Humanoid Golem Dragon With One Humanoid Head & 4 Serpent Heads That Serves As Wings Too, zygarde’s Design is God Tier, i Love zygarde. The Best Third Legendary is in My Opinion is Without A Doubt zygarde Lore Wise. So Pokémon Z Needs To Happen ASAP As The FOLLOW UP To Pokémon X and Y.
something else to note. all three loki's children will "break free" of some form of restraint at the start of ragnarok. perhaps An ironic link to zygarde being restrained and controlled IN ORDER to start Lysander's apocalypse

You've forgotten Zygarde's Aura Break ability does hinder either side, creation or destruction, since it does reverse their effects. In this way, Zygarde can still do this balancing act with a slight advantage, as minor as it may be.

There were definitely chromosome inspirations with the Pokemon specifically with Zygardes name which sounds a lot like zygote which does make sense in Pokémon X and Y especially with the life and death theme
