6/8...2 dotted quarter notes. So a triplet feel over a binary base. Love the breakdown. Good video.

Awesome video and great instructions as always. My Cuban teachers always wonder why my basic in certain steps gets soooo much better and cleaner.
Thanks for Germany and my sis lives in NC now (I think that’s where your studio is)
First beer on me if you are around in August when I visit them in Charlotte

Excellent! And syncopation just means an accent in an unusual place... thanks for sharing your knowledge.

You're doing something with your elbows (you can see it better with your left one) when you raise the arm overhead. Could you explain it? Or do you have some video of man style? I have not yet looked over all your videos, but i appreciate the details

And something very important. At that time the Cuban slaves included movements of the Spanish flamenco dance, so that the Spanish masters would not realize that they were dancing the dances of their African gods. But anyway, the Spanish celebrated in their manciones and my ancestors celebrated in the barracks, because it was the only day that slaves could celebrate. But they were also like today, preparing for war against the slaveholders who have enslaved Cuba. Today we are at war against communism.

Syncopation is dancing it before the beat.

HA HA HA. You're trying to teach Columbia to dance. I don't know what country you are from, but I appreciate it. But I inform you that it is the most difficult dance in the world. Why? I was born in Cuba but my father emigrated to Cuba from the US in 1950. He never learned to speak Spanish. But as you understand, I am an Afro-Cuban Afro-American. And yes, I dance Columbia.
But when I dance Columbia I don't dance alone. The spirits of my African ancestors come down to earth to dance with me. And the few times that I has danced Columbia , it is impossible to remember the steps, because the energy is so great that it seems to me that it is the closest thing to a trance to another dimension.
I do movements and jumps that you cannot imagine, my body does not hurt and my spirit dances with a joy that transmits so much energy to those around me, that they also start dancing. I don't know if you know that dance Columbia is touched between frequency 432 and 444. In other words, the bibration is terrible. Nor do we Cubans know the frequency. But we do know that it is the frequency of the African gods.
