- In early May of 2024 Chris and myself took a 7 day canoe trip around the Dunlop/Mace Loop. The weather was mostly cold, wet, and windy. But we were treated to an amazing Northern Lights show to make up for the weather. A terrific trip.
Great route. I did that same trip last year. Fantastic fishing!! Thanks for sharing.
I saw your video, thanks. 👍🏼
What an amazing trip! Upper Mace campsite looked beautiful... it all did, but wow, just gorgeous. My brother in law's up in Elliott Lake, might have to bring the canoe up next time we visit. Awesome video. 🛶
Thanks. 🍻 Upper Mace is a real treat.
Just confirmed your subscription on Instagram saw you had a TH-cam so here I am and took less than 30 seconds for me to subscribe here , anything outdoors and I'm hooked and along for the ride. Have the notifications bell hit too. Awesome video.
Thank 👍🏼 I have done the same. Looking forward to viewing your videos.
@@eltrippers Thank you
I follow you on Instagram and was recommended to your content by TH-cam.
I am not disappointed at all! This looks like a really nice loop; thank you for taking us along. The access to Dunlop Lake looks too good to be on crown land. Is this loop on Crown Land or in a park?
We will definitely be following your adventures going forward.
Cheers ✌.
The access we used is a public boat ramp on highway 108, just north of Elliot Lake. The access is on Dunlop Lake which is a mix of crown land and private land. The first portage is into Ten Mile Lake which is almost all crown land. The second portage takes you to Ezma Lake and into Blind River Provincial Park. It’s a non operating park, so no reservations needed. You would be in the park until the 1.4km portage from Claim Lake back to Dunlop Lake.
Thanks for the kind words. 🍻
Awesome video looks like a great rout thinking about trying it out in September. Just wondering about the boat launch on Dunlop shores road. Can you park overnight there?
@@dougdawson2873 Yes, people do regularly. Winter and summer.
Thanks for the video! Many trip plans this year?
Well, we’re both retired so we keep an interesting list of possibilities, then throw a plan together rather quickly. We stick to places that don’t need reservations, crown land or unorganized parks. A solo trip or two is hopefully happening as well.
Great video! Question: Do you normally portage once or twice? i.e. - once with the canoe and then go back and do it again with the gear, or all in one shot?
Thanks. At 63 I like go twice, the legs and back can cramp on long paddles, so a walk in the woods is welcomed. Being retired, there’s no hurry or desire to race to the end.
