First, hi.. My name is Irisha and i think more people need to know you exist. This is great. Also you have a very unique look. Never seen anyone like you. Thanks for posting.
With shampoo off the shelf at the grocery store you shouldn't be washing daily either. Hair with any kind of shampoo should be washed from about once a week to 3 times a week maybe less. This is one of those modern things that started at some point where we decided to strip our hair of it's natural oils on the daily.
I love your video! I was looking for someone who used the bar-soap instead of the bottle, I use the bottle-soap but I want to switch over to the bar, but I wasn't sure if it worked as well because I didn't see anyone using the bar, they all use the bottle haha. And yes acv (apple cider vinegar) works really well, I did that for a while, but now I use a lemon, it has the same ph level as acv so it does the trick as well! (I have really long hair but you can use half a lemon or less), I just dilute it with water, it obviously smells a lot better then acv and I feel like my hair shines more with the lemon then with the acv (although that might be just in my mind idk haha) but yeah, thank you for the video!!! I was looking for this!! 😊❤️
@@moolloos9975 Haha nice! and even if you think it's to much work orso than it's still a nice thing to do on special occasions if you don't want to smell like vinegar till your hair is fully dry haha! Do wash the lemon out afterwards, I know that with acv you can leave it in your hair (i've never done that but i've heard it), idk if you can do that with the lemon, maybe you can but I've never tried it! And one more thing: I don't just pour the lemon juice in the bowl with water straight away, I put a cheesecloth or a strainer in-between, because otherwise some of the pulp of the lemon will stay stuck in my hair, but then again, I do have quite long hair so maybe that isn't necessary with shorter hair! Good luck! haha 🍋✨
Something to note - for long-term usage of a lemon as a conditioner/acidic rinse is that lemon juice can damage your hair if exposed to direct sunlight for a period of time. Others have done much more research on it than I will share here, but just be certain you'll not be outside all day after a lemon rinse or that the lemon juice is still left in your hair. It certainly smells much more appealing than acv for probably the majority of people. 😄
@irisxxxxxx you said you have long hair. So do I, so how much lemon do you recommend (how much do you use yourself)? Also what roughly is the ratio you use between lemon and water? Thanks❤
I looove castile soap, I find it so cleansing and that I look nicer after using it on my hair and face, the Dr. Bronner's brand. Your hair looks great by the way :-)
Thanks Cristy! yh its a very good soap to use as long as one knows to rinse with something acidic afterwards. I find it less drying than conventional shampoo, but its not the right ph for the scalp so washing with it frequently seems to cause many people irritation. IMO it works best as an infrequently-used deep cleansing shampoo on an otherwise no-shampoo haircare routine. At least that's how it works for me. Thanks for commenting
I'm so glad this has worked so well for you. I went no poo about a year ago and I'm just starting to get non greasy hair now. I went cold turkey right away though so I believe the transition period of using castile soap would of helped. What type of hair do you have ? It could be very helpful for the other fellows looking into stopping their use of shampoos and conditioners. Keep up the great content.
hey good to hear your no poo routine is finally paying of, even though it took so long. I don't know if i could have stuck with it for so long personally, the transition aspect of using the rinse/castile has been great so far. I don't know if i managed to make it clear in this video but i definitely have a way to go in terms of reducing the amount of rinsing my hair needs, but ill stay patient and hopefully get to where you are in the coming months/year. i have very average hair in term of thickness/behviour but maybe a touch to the thin side. I've read that people have different reactions to nopoo/castile/lesspoo depending on hair type. Do you think your hair type is why it took longer than average for yours to adjust? Thanks for the positive words :)
moolloos I completely agree that different hair types require difference routines and results but my hair has never been oily, ever. My hair was always very dry and damaged from the daily shampoo and conditioner usage, the main reason why I went no poo (i was tired of having dead and fizzy hair). It's so worth it though :) and now I know how having greasy hair feels like, which allows me to understand the struggles of others better. All in all, become a little more compassionate ;) I would be very interested in your downsizing journey of you 100 or so items and for sure some videos about how much clothes one actually needs. Love the content your putting out!
it's kind of crazy that so many people in the situtation you were in with dried out hair probably think it's about finding 'the right' shampoo for them when pretty much all the shampoos out there suffer from the same problem just to varying degrees. eventually i think more people will come to hear about experiences like yours and have healthier hair, let's hope anyway! i've definitely got another 'possession check' video lined up sometime around the turn of the year. and thanks for the idea, i'll think about perhaps doing a clothing-focused one as well :)
Hey Jake, the bar soap doesnt need diluting, i just rub it into my hands and apply to head. This acidic rinse does need diluting about 1cap to 1cup water and is important to apply after washing with this type of soap. Thanks for watching :)
Do you rinse with water after your first rinse with shikakai rinse? Or you apply your soap after the rinse without water between? Because i have long hair and after i close the cuticules with the shikakai on the last rinse i still find my hair a bit sticky because of the soap:(
Hey so I'm a little bit confused with your question but you wet your hair thoroughly and apply the soap either directly to your scalp or you can lather up in your hands first and then apply to your scalp. Rinse out thoroughly. You can do a 2nd wash if you have fairly oily hair or you can then move on to your diluted shikakai rinse or diluted acv rinse. You want ALL the soap out of your hair before moving on to the rinse. I hope this helps!
Hello, may I ask how many times a week should i wash my hair with castille soap. Before castille soap I would wash every other day because its very oily. But now its very drying (even with acidic rinse) so im not sure how many times i can use it.
This comment section is killing me 😂. been using this soap and rinse for washing for going on 5 years now. Healthiest hair I’ve had ever

Thanks for the comment, and actually I'll try the lemon next time and see how that is :)

@@irisxxxxxx wouldn't have thought about straining it on first try so thanks for saving me the 'learning experience', will use a tea strainer!

3:50 or you can use apple cider vinegar diluted into water...
Do you have to dilute the soap with anything jw
