Thank you very much Akita Sensei for this treasured gift. I think I will watch it many times over. Firstly Osaka Sensei is such jewel of a karate teacher. A brilliant technician, ever so knowledgeable, amazing competition track record and was Nakayama Senseis Uke for so many years. He also has a wicked sense of humor which I love and he is so humble. He is my idea of THE ultimate karate master. Secondly the Hoitsukan dojo I recognised from when I visited Japan in 1982.
@@AkitasDojo That's interesting to know. I really look forward to part 2. Actually, from what I can see, you share a similar sense of humor to Osaka Sensei. I believe humor to be a wonderful way of relaxing the atmosphere. Of course it has to be at the right time.
According to a proverb, „laughter is the best medicine“ - no side effects and in a homeopathic dose, it probably won’t do any harm in the dojo either ;-) Thank you for following me here on TH-cam
Years ago as a regular attendee of Sensei Enoeda’s courses at Crystal Palace it was excellent when Sensei Osaka would attend as one of the guest JKA instructors. Not speaking hardly a world of English he would teach silently without saying a word and would ‘Mime’ to explain his actions and the techniques involved. He has that special ability to use his body language to explain his meaning so that Karate itself becomes the common language between us. …. After the summer course week one year we got word that all of the JKA instructions were staying in England for an extra week and were holding another days course down in Trowbridge. So we all pilled in the car to go there as well. instead of being in a session of about 200 black belts we had the delight of being taught in a group of about 20 and it was almost personal tuition similar to this video. …. Being at the head of the session and recognising me from the day before at Crystal Palace he asked me to ‘translate’ his meanings to the class, and because of his brilliant body language I knew precisely what we wanted to portray to explain. [he was teaching how the muscle tension in the upper body, shoulders and neck can cause your punches to be slow, and similar to some of his comments in this vid… relaxation in the muscles and flexible joints will enable the punch to be smoother and faster]
I was at Hoitsugan from 93 to 96 and learned from Kawawada Sensei. The shrine, the dojo kun, the picture of Nakayama Sensei are all just as they were. I'm glad people are still training there.
Great to see Osaka Sensei teaching at the Hoitsugan. I trained there for a total of eight years (and taught many classes there as well) in the 1980s & 1990s.
Akita Sensei, thank you for sharing all that grate information, and now with Osaka Sensei, many many thanks. -- I have learned a lot from your jiku videos, and keep practicing it every day, in order to improve my karate, thaks again. -- Now in Ecuador, we are looking forward to Naka Sensei Seminar in May. __ Oss Sensei!
