However they had no idea what was happening, and while Polly put it together pretty quick after the fact, Ben took a little while to be convinced it was still even The Doctor. No one was with the Second Doctor (except the Time-Lords, who already knew what face he was regenerating into anyway, and since The Doctor made it clear he didn't respect the Time Lords on any level, they probably didn't even care what he thought of his new face.) Sarah and Brigadier were with the Third Doctor, however since The Doctor was unconscious, they didn't really have the opprutunity to wish him "luck." Adric, Nyssa, and Tegan were all with the Fourth Doctor, and while they sorta knew what was happening, it all caught them very off-guard when it occurred. This is my favourite Dr who scene ever. The confusion at the start where Donna says "ask her yourself", the suprise of seeing Rose. The joy and happiness of seeing them sprinting towards eachother. And then the fear of seeing the dalek and the dread of what's going to happen. Bloody perfect

I just read something the other day that I had never heard before but made a lot of sense. Since that episode aired soooooooo many years ago people have complained that he didn't change because of vanity and/or Rose didn't want him too. But it might have been because he knew that 'Earth' and all life on it was being threatened so he could not risk going through the unstable period that followed a true regeneration. Makes sense.

Eg when Martha Jones was asking to go to Galifrey and he said something to the effect of "Well it would be boring for me, going home." instead of just explaining that his planet was destroyed. But tbh it could be either and I'm not even sure if my English is good enough to fully understand everything that happens, I'm just offering my thoughts :)

This was so good. Doctor Who needs cliffhangers at the end of EVERY story again! This one got the nation so excited and got everyone talking! Please bring back the cliffhangers like in the Classic series! Waiting a week to see whether we were gonna lose Ten or if he'd get out of it was honestly one of the most exciting experiences I've had as a Whovian!

No, he just remembered (unlike RTD) that there are other planets besides Earth in the universe. He still ends up on Earth a lot anyway so I don't know what your beef is. The last episode to air was set entirely on Earth.

Ah yes, the 10th Doctor's regeneration into...the 10th Doctor. Looking back, fellow Whovians, was The Doctor right to do this? One could argue that it's his right since this personality quirk of his could just be exclusive to this regeneration. But many feel that The Doctor really was greedy and selfish for cheating regenerating like that. If we take Time of the Doctor into consideration though, some leeway could be given considering 10 knew he was already near the end of his cycle. Still though...The Doctor doing actions like this... He just didn't want to go.

To think that one Dalek was responsible for completely wrecking the plan to destroy reality. By shooting the Doctor. The regeneration energy ended up creating the Metacrisis Doctor and also DoctorDonna.
The irony is, this would save his next version. Since he wasted a regeneration here, but there were still 13 versions of the Doctor involved in freezing Gallifrey at the end of the Time War, Gallifrey realized that they needed to give him more regeneration energy, permitting future regenerations.
After watching all of torchwood it was so nice to see Gwen and ianto involved with the Daleks attacking them etc especially them mentioning Owen and tosh

I just read something the other day that I had never heard before but made a lot of sense. Since that episode aired soooooooo many years ago people have complained that he didn't change because of vanity and/or Rose didn't want him too. But it might have been because he knew that 'Earth' and all life on it was being threatened so he could not risk going through the unstable period that followed a true regeneration. Makes sense.

@@saiyangoddess4310 yeah but it was said in a way that felt too joking/casual for him to have said "I kept the same face beacuse all life on earth was under threat" and it's not too uncommon for the doctor to say only part of the truth. Eg when Martha Jones was asking to go to Galifrey and he said something to the effect of "Well it would be boring for me, going home." instead of just explaining that his planet was destroyed.
But tbh it could be either and I'm not even sure if my English is good enough to fully understand everything that happens, I'm just offering my thoughts :)

This was so good. Doctor Who needs cliffhangers at the end of EVERY story again! This one got the nation so excited and got everyone talking! Please bring back the cliffhangers like in the Classic series! Waiting a week to see whether we were gonna lose Ten or if he'd get out of it was honestly one of the most exciting experiences I've had as a Whovian!

Seriously though anyone else notice that Stephen Moffat really doesn't seem to care about the Daleks, he only uses them because the BBC HAS to at least once a year, in his whole entire run he has only ever had one Dalek focused story that was actually good (the latest), and he has only had 4 Dalek FOCUSED stories at all, the difference between Russel and Stephen is that Russel did great with the Daleks, he actually cared about them, Stephen cares about new characters, Russel cares about old, it makes me wish that Russel would return and that they would both work on the show together, Stephen working on introducing new characters, and Russel working on stories featuring older ones.

I didn't like her much, but I have misgivings about most of the modern companions. I prefer the classic ones, like Leela, Romana and Ace.

Was never really a fan of Sarah, personally. She's good, but that was before I started watching, so I don't really have much of a connection with her.

One of the show's best ever cliffhangers, it really did seem at the time as though RTD had pulled an absolute flanker and brought in a new Doctor there and then.

No, he just remembered (unlike RTD) that there are other planets besides Earth in the universe. He still ends up on Earth a lot anyway so I don't know what your beef is. The last episode to air was set entirely on Earth.

Ah yes, the 10th Doctor's regeneration into...the 10th Doctor.
Looking back, fellow Whovians, was The Doctor right to do this? One could argue that it's his right since this personality quirk of his could just be exclusive to this regeneration. But many feel that The Doctor really was greedy and selfish for cheating regenerating like that.
If we take Time of the Doctor into consideration though, some leeway could be given considering 10 knew he was already near the end of his cycle. Still though...The Doctor doing actions like this...

The irony is, this would save his next version. Since he wasted a regeneration here, but there were still 13 versions of the Doctor involved in freezing Gallifrey at the end of the Time War, Gallifrey realized that they needed to give him more regeneration energy, permitting future regenerations.

Y'know, i don't think the doctor's body wants to let this face go. He regenerated into it, failed to regenerate out of it (with the hand), then after 3 faces (s)he regenerated back into it.

My emotions went from happiness to suprise to fear so quickly when watching this
You can see Rose has been through a lot. She had reality hit her in the face when she was taken away. She is different now. Less giddy. She is stone cold on the inside and you can see it. She isn't afraid of anything anymore. All she has left is sadness and The Doctor.
