Electric light orchestra is hands down the most underrated talented band you will ever listen to. And this song is the greatest song no one has ever heard of
Got tickets again!!!!!!For July 13 2025!!!!!!!Lucky I live about half a mile from Marble Arch on the corner of Park Lane and Hyde Park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some facts about Jeff Lynne (ELO)...First, he is a very humble man, simply because this Music Genius is not interested in fame, the limelight, and money, he just loves to create great music. Jeff Lynne is one of the most versatile musicians ever, this is why he is considered by his peers to be among the greatest. He didn't stick to one style of music because, after decades, it gets boring. Jeff has done progressive Rock, Symphonic Rock - Pop, New wave, and Disco. Everything he does turns to gold. He even flirted with Country music. From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years) Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other group in the world.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Light_Orchestra_discography 50 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas, festivals and Stadiums. During Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 Tour, many reviews agreed in saying they are the best live Classic Rock Band in the world still touring and Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius( From Forbes Magazine and the Washington Post). ELO is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Songwriter award ( ASCAP ) in 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. In October of 2020, Jeff Lynne has been made an officer of The Order Of The British Empire for his extraordinary contribution to music. He previously has received three Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate songwriters and composers, including the award for outstanding services to British music. He created the best Super Group of all time with his best friend George Harrison, The Traveling Wilburys. The Legends in the Music Industry call Jeff Lynne the best overall Musician ever and a Producer Extraordinaire. @@mickayres8786 Jeff Lynne is ELO sole composer, song writer and producer on all ELO albums. Stunning music. If Bach or Beethoven were alive today, they would be writing music like this. Richard Tandy on keyboards. Plus another on keyboards. There was tremendous Roy Wood influence on the original (1972), but I have to say, Jeff and his reformed ELO did the song proud.
"10538" was originally supposed to be the 'B' side of The Move's "When Alice Comes Back To The Farm" single, it was recorded in July 1970. Roy Wood added several cello over dubs to it after the rest of the band went home for the night. When Jeff heard it the next day, he declared that was the sound of ELO, Jeff renamed it "10538 Overture" and the first ELO song was created. Another Jeff Lynne song "What" replaced "10538" as the 'B' side of When Alice.....
I only just found out that Paul weller pinched the opening riff on changingman. How did I not notice before? Also, I saw ELO at the Reading festival in ‘72, must have been one of their first gigs.
I can't imagine in this day and age why they wouldn't have the video in sync to the music. There's times he's standing playing but not singing, where we hear him singing. Great musical version, bad reflection on the video producers.
Jeff Lynne got into trouble for lip syncing in the late 70's. Concert attendance and album sales suffered for it. The best ELO concert is from the aborted Zoom tour. Worth having.
@@davidmuth4571 Brass Ring Productions, the promoters at the Pontiac Silverdome for the 2 August 1978 gigs tried to sue because they claimed ELO mimed and didn't play live. Back up tapes were used, as they are with many acts, especially for ELO who have such a sound its impossible to reproduce on stage. But the known facts are that these promoters put a lot on the line for these gigs and with ticket sales being less than expected lost money-so they tried however they could to recover losses. Outcome is unknown but it put an unfair blemish on the tour and the group as a touring outfit.
Unfortunately this isn't the ELO I grew up with. This is just Jeff Lynn's pet project. Where are the original members like Bev Bevin, Mik Kaminski. Hugh McDowell. This is ELO in name only.
@@MrMjp58 But then the course of ELO's history would have been altered. Would they have made those fabulous albums such as Eldorado, Face the Music, A New World Record.... No. We can only speculate as to what would have happened.
I think him and Lynne just didn't get along as there were two people who had strong views on the creative direction. Had he stayed, they likely would've fought and potentially gotten less done together, rather than Lynne alone. I believe this is partially what gifted us albums such as Out Of the Blue, New World Record, and Discovery.

I absolutely agree with you a fantastic song timeless classic brilliant live WOW i love it

It is a hall of fame band. Hard to say they are underrated.

The best debut single by any band ...ever
It's up there, but I think Boston starting off with More Than a Feeling has to take the top spot for me.

Remarkable Performance of ELO's...'10538 Overture'...by Jeff Lynne and Friends. ...One of my favorites from ELO.

ELO's best song. IMHO

The master at work 👍😊
I saw Jeff Lynne's ELO during the 2019 tour. They are, without a doubt, the best sounding group I have ever heard. Great songs, fabulous performance.
Thanks, Jeff and Co.

i counted at least 14 violinists!! wow
As I was watching this, something looked off, then I remembered that Richard played bass on this on the original 1972 video!
True!
What no eye patch and no leg kick lol
❤Bravo💯🙌
ELITE ELO!
貴方の楽曲で、かなり救われました。有り難うございました。
The 'b' side was a belter also.
I've just watched the vid for the original 72 version.. Jeff lynne looks no different lol
Sounds great but I wish you could hear the French horn a little more like in the original ‘72 version!
Jeff Lynne way underrated! Could have been a BEATLE! Just a little too young.
I only just found out that Paul weller pinched the opening riff on changingman. How did I not notice before? Also, I saw ELO at the Reading festival in ‘72, must have been one of their first gigs.
Is that Richard Tandy on piano?
Yes! ❤

I do believe it was the backup singers singing as he played. Watched it on my 60" TV and couldn't see anything wrong with it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Jeff Lynne was the video producer. He can turn his hand to most things.
Did you catch his face? Was it 10538?

Paul Weller has good taste

Apart from Bev, the rest was only hired help for in the studio and touring, but never a band in the true-est sense. ELO is and was just Jeff Lynne
Richard Tandy was here in this video (rip)
Look like Henry Rollins on Acoustic guitar
Where's Roy Wood.?
That's what I want to know.

Absolutely Nothing like the original! there is no Roy on Cello, shame.
