What a precious baby! Just a few minutes ago, I finished giving my seven-year-old female coon her nightly treats. I had to lie on the floor with her and about five cats and scratch her belly and play with her.
I think people have the wrong impression about raccoons. They are always portrayed as garbage cans ransackers and that they are aggressive. Those that live in cities do that (Toronto) because they don't have anything to eat. Wild raccoons don't do that because there's plenty to eat and carrying diseases ( distemper and rabbits) is not common. I do believe that they should not be kept as house pets because if they become a problem you can't just dump them on an animal shelter or put them back in the wild. They will not survive ( Well, that's my personal opinion not a scientific fact)
I had some orphaned babies in hi school. Used to sit on my head and purr. Then as they got old enough to mate. They started to bite a and growl. I had to let them go. They had the mating fever. Never saw them again !
I live in a rural area and have a couple of resident raccoons who I've fed for years. When I feed my cats, they come up with the cats. They recognize me and my voice and it's so fun to see them stalking me through the woods when the cats run around my feet as I make my way to the feed bowls!
Pet coons are typically not this calm and are very energetic and physical. This is a rare one. They make really bad pets unless you like having a 2 year old childs mentality in a pet.
@@justdev8965 You obviously have no exprience with wild animals. The videos you see of cute cuddly calm raccons as pets are the exception not the rule and typically when the coons are still young. Unless you get a particularly calm natured racoon they are complete terrors once they grow up. The males go into rut and will bite out of no where and the females become generally aggressive. Racoons are ~terrible~ pets.
I raised a male raccoon from an orphaned baby and he was just as tame as the one in this video. I gave him oral medications to protect him from rabies and distemper. He lived in the woods in back of my house, but showed up at my door frequently for meals and affection. He loved to have his fur brushed and combed. He showed up twice during the spring with a sow and babies. He was four years old when he disappeared last spring.
Incredibly heart warming. Believe me, if I had power, I would have eliminated all human scum that skins them. Ironically to get power you need traits that a good person doesn't have. It's a catch-22
