    Your art is beautiful Denise! I've been wondering about cold wax for some time now. I purchased a tiny container of the Gamblin. I was going to use it on a collaged magnet. I found out about it when I asked an etsy seller what they used on their collaged magnets because the end effect is really cool! Thanks for sharing your techniques. I probably will just glue the papers down and finish it off with the cold wax because it can be kinda expensive. Keep the tips coming! I love your channel :)

      That's a perfect solution Peg...more economical and a sure thing that everything will stick! I love using cold wax as a top coat on my smaller pieces, it has such a nice luster. Glad you are experimenting with it...and watching my videos. Thank you so much for that!🤗☺

    Really loving your work, Denise! You can mix oil pastels or even chalk pastels with the wax for some color accents here and there. Last Summer I made some rusty fabric too. Lay out your fabric (in my case in the garage), place some metal bits, nuts n bolts from the husbands work bench, then continued to spray some hydrogen peroxide w/water over the surface each day for about a week. The heat from the weather will speed up the process. I even rusted some old ledger paper the same way. I'd love to see more of your process videos. I especially loved your faux encaustic work, too. Keep em coming, please....

      Good morning Mary...thank you for such a wonderful message and the great tips. I did try this with my fabric and it works so great to rust things up, though I only left it over night, I'm going to give your process a try of letting it sit for a week. I haven't tried it with paper though...love that idea! So nice of you to take the time to share your ideas and good thoiughts...very appreicated too. I will keep em coming...I think I'll do one this week as a matter of fact 👩🏻‍🎨

    🗣Bravo ‼️👏 Have you used cold wax lately? I’m going to give it a try, I love the luster. Thank you for sharing! 🧚🏻‍♀️

      Christie Trout I have not tried cold wax lately, though I just did put it out on my art table to experiment with. I have a Jeanne Oliver online class that is cold wax & oils that I’m wanting to dive into... just dragging my feet on pulling out my oils.🙂🙃🤷🏻‍♀️ I do love the luster it gives,🧡Thanks for watching Christie!

    love it, so the cold wax acts like a glue. I didn't know you could do that :) Love the idea of combining collage with cold wax.

      Stephanie Gagos Thanks Stephanie...this piece was done well over a year ago and still sticking tight. I love the feel of cold wax and collageing with it...spreads like butter. I think you’ll enjoy the process!

    I just found your channel and have been enjoying watching your process. What you create really speaks to me. I had to subscribe so I could see more. I’ve never seen this product before. LOVE how it looks. Thanks for sharing!

      Thank you Dorothy for peeking in! I kinda mix it up a bit and do a little bit of everyting...however I do love working with cold wax. I hope you get a chance to try it...or even try "inspired encasutic" using gel mediums. I hope to post more videos, though seem to get caught up in creating and then forget to film it!🙃

    Beautiful. I’m wondering if I used matte medium or gel medium to lay dawn the collage if it would be more cost effective? I haven’t purchased the cold wax yet .

      Hi Christine...This was me experimenting with cold wax. It worked really well for what I was doing and I wanted to keep the cheese cloth dimensional. However....I usually use poly acrylic from Home Depot paint department as my medium to hold down papers and as a top coat for my pieces, that is really cost effective. Make sure to use the water based poly. I use heavy gel mediums for heavier pieces that I glue down. All that being said...it is a fun experiment to play with the cold wax and it's worth the price. I often times use it as a top coat to finish pieces off...I love the buffed out finish. Give it a try!

      @@cerropaint So, are you saying that poly acrylic from Home Depot works as well as MATTE medium for flying down light weight and regular weight paper ?
      Can it also be used as a GEL medium for gluing down heavier weight paper?
      If so, that is VERY interesting!

    Hi Denise. The link doesn’t work anymore and Sharyn cannot be found online. Would you happen to have the list still? Can you please post it as a pdf on a link on a video somewhere or your website? Thank you!

      @cerropaint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So sorry DrJ..time flies! I don't have this list any longer, it's been a long time since I posted this video. I searched for Sharyn too with no luck, though found many other cold wax artist here on TH-cam. If I come across anything I'll definitely add it back in the description. Best of luck with your cold wax explorations.

    Can you mix it with acrylics? Does it dry hard?

    • @cerropaint
      @cerropaint  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cold wax is meant to mix with oils, not acrylic. I use it as a stand alone top coat over acrylic paintings, or as in this case as the medium to hold elements down…and yes it dries hard!👍🏻
