Beautiful Patt ! Thank you once again for sharing your inspirational art . It is absolutely amazing the magic that is revealed when the tape is removed . Kind regards - Judi - Australia 🤗🙃
Thanks Judith! You are so generous with your praise! I agree about the tape! That blue is so overpowering. There is white artist tape but it is harder to find and more expensive! 😊
Yes, apply it under and over the collage. It works best if paper is very thin like tissue. You can put clear gesso on he collage paper for more tooth. Cold wax is not the best glue - I have had mixed results.
I have never tried it on the top only during the painting process with varying results. I would try an experiment with it. The piece would need to be smooth for it to have good adhesion. I would use thin paper like tissue paper.
Patt, I am new to your channel and to cold wax. I am used to acrylics, so my question is what kind of papers can you use as your base with oil and cold wax besides arches oil paper. I have mixed media paper, canvas, but how light weight can you also go with cold wax? Thank you. Warmly, Eileen
Hello Eileen, Strathmore makes an oil paper also that has a linen tike finish. The nice thing about the oil paper is it ready to paint on. I have used 300lb watercolour paper - gessoed first. I have also used canvas pads and stone paper. When using thinner paper you need to keep the paint thin as well. You can also use hardboard to practice on. Just be sure to gesso first. The best thing to do is experiment. Patt

I'm wondering if you can collage on top of oil and xold wax once it's dried?

@@pattscrivenerartisti think oil paints must be the last to be applied cause oils must breathe

so you put cold wax on top of acrylic medium?
Yes you can apply it over acrylic providing it is not glossy. I use acrylic clear gesso for the bite.
It could be.a blue vase with flowers, sitting on an orange table.
The beauty of abstract!
The bite?
??
I think Patt means clear gesso provides a gritty, roughened texture for the cold was to adhere to, it's not slick.
@@OmaStudioArt Thanks for answering, that is exactly what I mean!
