Cor!! Memory railway. When I lived in Colchester and my grandma lived in Clacton I always visited her on the train. Back then it was always front four coaches for Clacton and rear four coaches for Walton and Grandma always dreaded that I would get in the wrong four coaches and end up in Walton. I never did that, but every summer I would hear one of the blokes on Clacton station talking to someone who'd done it wrong. "Now what you want to do is, get back on the train what you've just got off, get out at Thorpe and tell 'em you want to go to Walton this time." Or something similar. Great memories!
A cab ride along my home route. And - from the distinctive shape of the nose, and throb of the engine - I knew it had to be a 37, without needing to see it standing at the very end. Most are in the 60s now, yet still going strong, like many of the East Anglian steam locos they replaced. As the saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Nice little run that. I shouted out "Wivenhoe!!" even before I saw the sign. Its that slope of buildings to the right. Used to be a second hand shop there where I bought a Trio amp in the 1980s. Actress Joan Hickson also lived at Wivenhoe.
I caught this train passing Chelmsford Arbour Lane going into the D.G.L. and then again after it turned around and came back out. The 37s sounded lovely as they accelerated up to line speed.
As a kid I had one of Hornby's foot bridges and often thought that it was just a fictitious design, I mean would they really build something like that in real life, its ugly.... 20:33 Guess they did ! Great video, thanks for uploading, enjoyed watching.
Interesting ride. I really do think that there needs to be a train station at the university up by the footbridge. If anything, Colchester should build up a lot more in areas immediately around the stations and add metro/sprinter type services to help increase passenger numbers.
Good evening Me train man 😊 Thanks for the ride in the tractor is was great seeing that route from the cab window and how much it’s changed over the years especially the signalling 😫 I was at a party on the 19th of August this year in Spalding and the house backed onto the railway. And 37175 passed and I wondered if you were at the helm 🤔 The people at the party laughed as I got excited as the 37 rattled passed lol 😆 How’s the layout coming on? Take and thanks again buddy 👍🏻
Saw myself just before Alresford! Great upload & Lovely watch
Thank You for Uploading
