After months off work, I finally finished the beast…. Look at her. Such a beaut
If you’re new here, hello! These characters are NOT. N O T. warrior cats! But cats from my animated series called The Stolen Hope, which is completed and ready for viewing! I am rebooting it as well! This PMV centers around the events that precede the first episode of the series.
Characters: Rose (cream and orange cat), Maxwell (Blue and black cat), Lydia (blue and white cat), Romulus (black/orange/white cat), Ares (blue and white cat), Kaylee (purple and black kitten), Warlock (greyish cat with the cloak) Random Spy (cream and brown cat), Strike (brown tabby with floppy ears)

Story:
After Rose murders King Romulus, a wandering cat named Lydia stumbles upon his body. Realizing the identity of the tom, she realizes that it could land her some credibility, even power in Romulus' Empire. She sees the rose drop, but thinks nothing of it
Lydia is greeted by Prince Maxwell. Instead of being upset over his King's death, he's cheerful, realizing he's now king. He immediately takes a liking to Lydia, and Lydia sees this and decides to use it to obtain power for herself. The two end up forming a relationship.
Rose is being fed information through a spy. The spy is revealed to be Queen Lydia, and Rose jumps on the opportunity. She makes a deal with Lydia: Assassinate and dethrone Maxwell, and their kingdoms would become unified. Despite Lydia realizing that Rose was responsible for Romulus' death, she's pleased with this idea. The two continue to meet for several months.
Lydia becomes pregnant with Maxwell's kittens. At first, she's upset, but Rose reminds her that this just solidifies her place as Queen. After Ares and Kaylee are born, Maxwell shows a softer side, deciding to turn over a new leaf for the sake of his children. Now, Lydia is uncomfortable with the assassination attempt.
When Lydia tells Rose she doesn't want to follow through anymore, Rose reconvinces her. Little do either of them know, one of Maxwell's spies has spotted them, and immediately reports it to Maxwell, which infuriates him. He bursts into their bedroom, finding an open window and two motherless kittens, showing that Lydia was in fact not at the castle.
When Lydia returns, Rose waits outside the Empire Castle for the assassination attempt to finish. After a while, she gets nervous and decides to see what's going on. Horrified, she discovers Maxwell has murdered Lydia after finding out her true intentions. Rose, now infuriated that her plan has failed, as well as seeing her friend die, vows to make Maxwell pay. She rushes to the lair of the Warlock, a mysterious cat from Lydia's past.
Rose begs Warlock to curse her brother. Bitterly, he agrees, and drops Lydia's necklace in his cauldron. The curse on Maxwell is placed, and his children watch in horror. Rose discovers a painting on Warlock's wall. It hits her in the face. Warlock was Lydia's father. Before she can do anything, Warlock punishes Rose as well. Heartbroken, he screams for her to leave, telling her she will now be forced to face the consequences of her actions. She is forced to see the spirits of those in her life who she has wronged. King Romulus, Lydia, Strike, and Lillia all surround her, condoning her actions. She is completely overwhelmed.
Several years later, she is murdered by Maxwell and Lydia's son, Ares. Rose was given the opportunity to raise Lydia's motherless kits, but Rose refused, leaving them to deal with their now abusive father, which is why Ares sought to get revenge, leading to the end of Rose's story.

Alrighty, I had these comments turned off since November 2020, but now I’m going to turn them back on. The reason I turned these comments off is because people ended up engaging in fights with one another over these characters. Even I got heated at points, but all the nastiness has since been removed. “Rose is worse” “Max is worse” “Lydia is worse”. As the creator, may I remind you that they are all bad in their own ways, but Max takes the cake for being #1.
He willingly assisted in the murder plot of his father, drove out his family, abused his children, and murdered his wife. That split second of him smiling at his children does not remedy the harm he’s caused. However, liking him is 100% okay! Heck, I LOVE him as a villain! It just gets into sticky territory when people start justifying his crimes for that split second of affection he showed, which was abruptly cut short anyway. This same justification and thinking goes for Rose as well. Same for Lydia. As I said before, go at it! love them! analyze them! that’s what makes indie projects fun! just be respectful to those around you and be kind to those you disagree with! Nobody here is 100% good, nobody is 100% bad. They’re all grey in some way.
This PMV was meant to highlight all the horrific things that went wrong to set up the rebooted series! Don’t fret, a lot of the things in this end up getting covered in the reboot, so you’ll get some answers to your questions soon!

Alrighty! Personally I love Lydia and Rose, Maxwell, I love him too. I stumbled over this video today and just wanted to say I love it and that I’m obsessed with the music and how it portrays the art and the story. You did amazing 💖
Well, I don't have anything to discuss about this, because you said everything, and you're completely right. All I can say about this situation about the characters, is that the three of theme made mistakes and wrong decisions, and those actions had terrible consequences that we all know which they are.
I got a question if this is meant to set up the reboot why is Aries a light blue well in the remake hes sort of darker blue of gray????

I don't hate Rose at all, she was just so blinded by her goal to stop her brother that she didn't fully realize the pain she caused. I'm not saying she's a good cat but she's a hell of a lot better then maxwell.

They’re not a couple. I honestly if they were healthy together would have loved to ship them together but they’re not. Rose manipulated Lydia into going through with her plan, causing her to get killed. While I do love Rose and Lydia and characters, and even Maxwell, they’re all toxic for eachother.

The she-kit dies (Idk if I’m thinking of the right child) Ares kills Rose and Iris, and thousands of other cats because he enjoys it. I feel Ares is just as bad as Maxwell. He plotted against his own father, drove out his kin, and killed thousands without another thought. I feel the only kit innocent is the she-kit. She dies before she can become a full-grown cat, and she did nothing wrong. Ares is every bit guilty as Rose or Maxwell. At least, that’s how I feel.

I would argue Lydia's father is innocent. Maybe he did other bad things in the actual series but all he does here is make rose see what she did
This was amazing, like how in the story its just one side is to blame, both sides can been seen as bad when you look at what they do on paper until you know the full story, plus the powers origins was interesting

I remember when I was at the premiere for pumped up kicks, and it’s awesome to get a second part to the story! I was always so confused as to where the curse came from when I first watched TSH, but now we know! Also, when I watched it , I just KNEW in my gut that Rose had done something terribly wrong! And now, it’s revealed! Good going, Warlock! I cheer you on, on your ‘eye for an eye’ policy! And Lem, this whole PMV, along with The Stolen Hope itself, is absolutely outstanding!!!! The art is eye-candy and I almost stopped to look at every individual frame for a few seconds! You should be so HECKIN’ proud of yourself!
Ooooo, I noticed something: reboot Jackson primarily got his coat colors from their grandfather Maxwell, while Vivian got her build and eye color from their grandmother Lydia!
Seeing maxwell crying as he looks at his kits when he got his curse absolutely breaks my heart. He loved his children. The way he looks at them when they're momma is with em is so so sweet. If rose would have just stopped and went another route...

why yall supportin maxwell, he figgin agreed on the plan to kill his daddy for no dang reason and didnt even care when rom died, all he knew is that he would be fAmOus (king), prove me wrong, but i still root rose and lyd on this one, at least they didnt kill their dang parents for no reason, right? they did shitty stuff but still cant blame them tOo much, correct? i see why rose wanted maxwell dead, he wanted his dad dead just because he don't like him, but rose did bad stuff too, she was too selfish and upset about her dads death and her bro's greed that she became slightly greedy and power hungy to fix what he did, but kinda made it worse, y'know what i mean? lydia didnt do anythin wrong, just pushed into something that had nothin to do with her, when she had her kits and saw how gentle max was, she started feelin bad and didnt wanna kill him, but selfish greedy rose told her that it was still the right thing, and then lydia died because of rose's greed to get revenge on maxwell and take over the rom empire (and possibly fix everything). overall, rose deserved the curse, but i still feel for her, max was and still is bad even before the curse, prove me dang wrong here, i wont heccin mind. :)

I’m not argue. Maxwell is a horrible cat, end of discussion, but Rose is just as bad. Her choices led not only to Lydia death, but an all out war. She is probably single-handedly responsible for what happens to Aries and Kaylee for not only abandoning them, but then immediately placing the curse on Maxwell. She doomed everyone to a cycle of vengeance.

Warlock is Lydia's (adopted) father. (Or just father, pretty sure Lydia's adopted though.)

Then why she didn't curse maxwell after killing king romulus in the first place.
Like warlock is Lydia's father so rose and Lydia's ask warlock to curse maxwell than kill him at his weakness.
Maybe rose didn't knowing that warlock is Lydia's father but she know there's magic and curse.
I'm not saying that writing is bad i love it and characters but i confused that rose not thinking of curse her brother in first place.

She murdered Romulus not out of "duty" or out of the "good" in her, she did it out of revenge, she didn't think of how it would affect her fellow thorns, and that striked her right back. She refused to take responsibility for the death of Lydia, and turned down the chance to give Kaylee and Ares a brighter future, resulting in Kaylee's death and Ares tyranny. She most definitely deserved that curse, not for the good things, the bad and ugly must also be considered.
Tbh I don't even remember what the heck this video was about or who these characters are so I'm sure my view on them would be a lot different if I watched it again.
@@rosestarofroseclan8094 The prequel will most likely explain the point after episode 6 of the older series, and how Ares and the cursed kingdom came to be in the reboot.
Rose is almost entirely (though indirectly) responsible for the monster Ares became and the death of Kaylee. She utterly failed them both
I'm sitting here now and thinking, is it possible for me to create a similar PMV with my characters? Or would that be considered plagiarism? I just loved this particular song combined with the footage from the past and would love to do a PMV with the same song and even the same motifs like killing one character by another and then dying at the hands of a third.
I don't own the song so feel free to use it! just please don't take my ideas/story/visuals to create your own. It is ok to be inspired by other artist's work, but I think this may fall under a greyer/copying area
@@galemtido The story is alreadyfinish, the characters in it are human, so in general everything is different, but if I make similar angles in some separate moments, because I liked the storyboard of events in the video (for example, how at the beginning the angle takes the character’s death, and then in the next scene , this character killed another), is it still considered a copy? I can’t figure it out, because I know that there is such a thing as a meme, and sometimes artists draw the same thing in it, only replacing characters, and this is normal

Again, this is amazing and it makes you realize that things aren’t so black and white. Rose is definitely not the goody two shoes the light kingdom thinks. Not saying she’s a villain or anything, but she definitely didn’t even consider the consequences of her actions. She didn’t consider the danger she put Lydia through by telling her to go through with the assassination, even when Lydia saw Maxwell’s good side. She didn’t see the consequences of giving Maxwell a curse and definitely didn’t think she’d suffer the same fate. Rose wasn’t a bad cat, but she should have though her plans more thoroughly through.
ok i'm actually gonna leave a serious comment now explaining to obviously, a young audience, why shipping rose and lydia isn't good, why maxwell shouldn't be sympathized with, and why rose isn't the victim but she also isn't an 'evil' character.
rose and lydia aren't healthy together. rose used lydia to fuel and push her assassination plot against maxwell, which was fueled by grief and revenge. she manipulated lydia into staying with the plot, when she had just given birth to two kids. rose used the fact that lydia could seal her place as queen to her advantage into making her stay. they aren't the 'lesbian couple goals!!' that a lot of people like to say or push. this is coming from an actual lesbian. don't ship them. it implies not good things about alex and yourself. ship dusck and caroline instead. that's a healthy sapphic relationship in the series that needs more love.
maxwell shouldn't be sympathized with. yes, he showed about a few seconds of ":-]" to his newborn children, but that was about it. remember, before the curse had even been placed, before he killed lydia, he was responsible for his fathers death. he aligned himself with romulus, and caused his family to be torn apart. he was power-hungry before the events of this pmv. he killed lydia out of anger and to piss off rose. then he goes on to kill kaylee and abuse ares. he's not a good guy.
lastly, rose isn't the 'villian' here, but she's also not a saint. she allowed her emotions to get the best of her, and it ended up causing the entire war that is the driving plot point in this series. she wanted to kill maxwell for aiding in their father's death, and the creation of romulus' empire. what did this get her? well, she manipulated lydia and dragged her along, even when she wanted to leave. she was partly responsible for lydia's death. she refused to care for ares and kaylee after lydia was murdered, even when lydias spirit begged her. rose was responsible for the curse that would plague the land and cats for many years. her drive for revenge ended up furthering the deadly war. but it came with a price, as she got a curse aswell.

I agree with a lot of this, but you forgot to add in one detail, the curse. Maxwell only killed Kaylee and abused Ares and her because of that curse. He loves his kits, but after the curse he is just evil. None of the characters here are good or actually innocent, but that doesn’t make them completely bad.
Drydirt37 the curse didn’t cause maxwell to abuse his children and kill one of them. he was abusive before the curse. the curse never made him do anything.
Wow, Aries’ mom looks so much like Vivian in body shape / head shape. Now I’m thinking that Vivian inherited her grandma’s head / body shape, and her mom’s colors mixed with her dad’s colors. Jackson basically got his grandfather, Maxwell’s darker blue, mixed with the browns of his mom, and his general body shape matches with his dad. Very nice
Vivian also inherited her grandmother's pink eyes too.
Not to mention her grandfathers dorsal fin which is a feature within his new design

The expressions of the characters, the story, the Tweening the shading?! THIS IS INCREADIBLE!! The way you draw cats and just in general is amazing, and I could probably go on about this for a while, It's just that good!!!

To be honest I understand no character is fully good or bad. That's impossible, however I think because this pmv didn't show how he treats his subjects, people sorta assume he wasn't truly bad until he was officially cursed n Saw his wife was plotting against him. But that's just how I protray it. Still a good pmv though
Yes, Maxwell was an absolutely terrible person/cat ,no questions asked! I just find it wierd and a bit funny as well though, that out of all the things Rose could curse Maxwell for, it was for him defending himself from Lydia , a thing that he is within his rights of doing, and not for being a tyrant or something like that.
Also, Lydia appears to be very powerhungry and manipulative herself,so I didn't really feel sorry for her at all. I felt sorry for what all this meant for the kits,but not for her! It probably was not your intention,but that's how your portrayal made her seem to a lot of people apparently! So since Maxwell got his curse for defending himself from her,and not for aiding in his father's murder for example, it made Maxwell look like the victim in this one instance, and people feel bad for the victims in a story. The first impression as a result, is to defend him this one time,but later on when people think about his character as a whole, I'm sure they realize he is evil.
This doesn't have anything to do with gender/sex either, since in the last video Maxwell was hated as far as I remember,and rightfully so, if not slightly shown putty for being manipulated.

Okay. Now THIS is amazing! Also, I've noticed this "Maxwell is the victim here" or "Rose is the true villian" comments and what not, but to true victims are Strike and Lillia! Strike was just trying to do what was right for his tribe, but his own son and Romulus ruined everything for him. Lillia was just trying to be a good mother, and had to watch her son turn into the villain. And no, I'm not taking sides on Maxwell or Rose here, yes they have roles, but both are victims to what has happened. They just reacted differently to the pain set on them.
With or without the curse, Maxwell was still a bad cat, but id be interesting to see what would’ve happened if he never was cursed and thus Ares wasn’t either
But before lydia and rose meant up In secret, maxwell wanted to change for the better so his kids could grow up for a better life

When Ares ripped Maxwell’s throat out, and Maxwell started crying and hearing Ares’ angry words, was that the real/old him before the curse peaking through? Like as he was dying the genuine and caring person/father was kinda reawakened sorta?

If she hadn’t forced Lydia into that position, she wouldn’t have been killed
But NOPE, Rose was so obsessed for revenge, that she caused someone’s death, and the whole Dark vs Light war to escalate further

Agreed! When she asked to have the curse placed on Maxwell, it was because he killed Lydia, not for all the other bad things he did. Also, Ares’s sister is Kaylee.
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING!! I love to see more of Rose's story. It make sense why Ares would want to kill Rose. Rose didn't raise them, which leads to Kaylee's death, and Ares's curse. What Rose did was...wrong. I could see that she's angry because Romulus had kill her father and corrupted her brother. But at the same time I could see concequences of her actions: Maxwell became a abusive father when he could've been a good dad, Lydia died, Ares was raised wrong when he could've had a normal life, it shows that even the smallest move everything could change. This is a beautiful PMV!! :D

This is so well done! Along with the last PMV, this shows great insight on all of the things that went down before the events of the main story and the origins of the curse. Makes me realized how many family members Warlock must have lost given all of those necklaces on his neck.

Ive watched this 5 times, I cant get over how beautifully put together this is hgvfdbrjstgjrs The story?!?!?! art?!?!?!?!? freaking backgrounds!?!?1 AAGHHHHHHHH this looks so incredible and im absolutely in love with this story omg!!! That part were rose saw the picture then flew back as she got hit with the curse gave me literal GOOSEBUMPS!

I make new ones every week ;-; I have like over a thousand different story drafts and characters to keep track of _HELP_
There are only two stories that I have that have stuck with me, one that’s 8 years old and another that’s about maybe 2 or 3. Other stories I had have either been discarded or forgotten (I have a very bad memory span unfortunately which is why i write down story ideas on my phone in case I forget)

Rose was working with Lydia to try and assassinate Maxwell, but Maxwell found out and killed Lydia.

@@RipGoat well nobody is really a bad guy but nobody is innocent either while you could make the arguement that maxwell had started this whole mess by helping king Romulus kill his dad thus creating the 2 kingdoms, but after creating a relationship with lydia, he was willing to change for the better but as you can see, rose and lydia just made the problem 100x worst. but you can still see that rose had good intentions but the wrong choice of actions.
I FORGOT TO COMMENT ON THIS EARLIER BUT i have watched this so many times it genuinely lives me in aweee. i adore jerome and pumped up kicks but even from those two pmvs ur storytelling skills through the song using symbolism and establishing clear settings has gotten soo gooood! and as always ur expressions and general artstyle are gorgeous, i rly love these characters stories and showing how complex they can be (esp for rose) as a morally grey character and often doing things for her own selfish reasons! i just love this pmv smm

Warlock causes the curse of both lights and darks out of spite, Lydia initially only gets involved with the kingdom and Maxwell for power, Rose caused the death of Lydia through pure manipulation when the queen was unsure what she was doing was right, and Maxwell, despite trying to make things better before the curse took place, does aid in killing his own father and watches as his sister runs away in terror with a smile, not even giving a damn when Romulus is killed. All of these cats have dirt on them, except for the kits who have their innocence taken away by these events.
Just a moment to bring something to light here: I don’t condone Ares killing Rose in either versions of The Stolen Hope, but in the reboot, Rose refused to raise him and Kaylee, which might have stopped Maxwell from abusing them. It gives him a much more solid motivation to kill her than in the original and I really like that.
And probably would’ve prevented Kaylee’s death

God the old version of the story in episode 1 of TSH pales in comparison to this, and how far you've come, gaLEMtido. I'm so proud of you!! Now there's no overused, abundantly obvious "good vs evil" in this.
Maxwell and Romulus murdered a good person for power and forcibly overtook a society. Rose persisted in her revenge plot even after she had heard Maxwell turned over a good leaf, perhaps even becoming a benevolent king. Lydia chose power and Rose's revenge over her mate, kids, and the possible newly better future of the kingdom. I love how there's no good guy anymore; everyone is a victim of each other's misunderstandings and overambitions driving them to worse and worse situations.
If the origin story is THIS good after a revamp, I can't even imagine how the revamp for the actual series must be going!!! So hyped!!!!

Don’t get me wrong I understand any sympathy from every side, it’s hard to see ares as the worst when he’s an abuse victim and his sister was convincing his WIFE to kill him after having his kids, I’m not saying this gives room to like this cat but it clearly gives us room to see the grey in these things because everyone truly had a reason to do what they felt they had to in some kinda hindsight, I’m not saying anyone has to agree with me on this but you truly have outdone yourself with these characters and giving them such morally grey lines
If Rose hadn't done this, Vixy wouldn't have suffered in the clutches of Ares who was cursed. (Yes, years later I realized this.)
I feel bad for Lydia and Rose but on the other hand, Maxwell who killed Lydia, was not wrong! But of course he wasn't right either.All of the characters shown in this video are evil in their own ways. Even the dead corpse of Romulus!Now I have to say WOW! Explained in the second episode. It gives on monstrous strength, and they are also capable of withstanding massive pain. However, they will lose memory of who they are, and may kill a loved one without a second thought. I think in Rose's case, she also gains the ability to see the spirits of deceased cats the knows.
After watching this for about the 15th time this still looks GORGEOUS!!! You did SUCHH a good job at conveying story,emotions etc!! Excited to see your future projects, as well as the reboot!!

In my opinion, Lydia's death was Rose's fault, as well as Ares and Kaylee's fate.
This gives me memories from when episodes were still coming out and I would get all exited.

It does make me wonder what if Lydia actually turned down Rose's request after the birth of her kittens. Perhaps Maxwell could've had a chance to remedy for the crimes he's caused?
