Alternate title: Jackson frantically tries to calm Vivian down for 25 minutes straight
after almost 6 months exactly of production, my first year of college under my belt, a new laptop, and a WHOLE new story later, this beast is finally done! If you were a fan of the original version of TSH, don’t worry! The original episodes will still be up and won’t be altered/removed in any way.
The reboot is an entirely new plot, and now revolves around Jackson as the protagonist instead of Lunis. My suggestion? Throw any former knowledge about the OG plot out the window, because this series is much different from the first draft. The only thing that’s similar are some characters, but even then, some have been cut, renamed, replaced, or altered. Basically what I’m trying to say is that the TSH reboot is it’s own thing, and should be treated as such!
I cannot wait to take y'all down this journey of The Stolen Hope reboot! I really hope it shows my improvements in art, story telling, character writing, and overall production! As I touched on before, I am a college student now, and I don’t really have a ton of free time anymore, so production is going to be slower than the first series.

I actually really like how Vivian has a better reason to side with the empire unlike the original. I feel there is much more potential for growth on both ends of the spectrum for her with this reboot now and I can't wait to see how it goes. Also I like how Lunnis isn't such a jerk this time as is trying to be friendly to everyone she meets, no matter the side they are on.
Yeah honestly, Lunis seemed like such a hypocritical, mean idiot in the first series. And already she seems to have made a complete 180. Pretty much all of these characters are way more likeable now.

AUGH OH MY GOD OKAY UH LET ME PROCESS THIS RQ
Okay so this episode IMMEDIATELY PULLS AND HOOKS YOU IN with an absolute KILLER of a first scene. You’re just getting introduced to Iris here and you sympathize with her the moment she starts talking, which makes it all the more heartbreaking when she dies, even more so when you see Jack and Viv having to deal with the aftermath. You sympathize with the siblings super hard and their personalities make them shine, which goes for when Lunis and Apollo are introduced too. Vivian’s character is done so well in just the first episode, you understand where she’s coming from and her trauma but you also know that she treats other people unfairly. Bottom line, this episode was phenomenal, and I am so so happy and grateful that I got to help out even just a little bit on this project. This is going to get serious recognition I know it.
Anyway, Vivian makes me feel things, stan Apollo (and also every other character), I’m going to go think about this for three months

One thing I like about this series is that they're not swearing just for the sake of being edgy, they're swearing when they get really pissed off.
I love the massive changes in the story already. Since Iris died Lunis and Apollo already know who they are! I really want to see how this turns out!

Honestly I love the perspective change with Vivian and Jackson being the current protagonist. With the story centered around the two of them we're able to see another side to Vivian that wasn't presented in the original. It not only gives a whole different story aspect but it also helps others to connect and understand Vivian, instead of just seeing her as a one-deminsional villain. Though don't get me wrong for the original Stolen Hope was really good still, but it lacked a proper well built up storyline when it came to the connection of Vivian/Jackson and their dad. Overall I really like how the remake/redempted version is turning out so far and I can't wait to see where the story goes next!
I have no idea why people have compared this beautiful series to Warriors, or even thought it was Warriors. This series is much, much different, and nothing like Warriors! I loved the old series, and this episode is amazing! I also really like the plot better already! You have definitely improved at writing plots! I also didn’t really like Lunis in the original series, but I really like her now in the reboot, as she just seems like a better character in general! I also love Iris’ new design! Vixy will always be my fav character tho

This one even makes me feel more sad for her since now it seems she really has a reason to betray the thorn cats. In the original it didn’t really feel as reasonable (from character pov) but now I can really understand why she would! Go viv go!

At 16:21; I have a feeling the two butterflies in the scene foreshadow Vivian and Jackson and how they will slowly grow apart from each other in the future. This is just a theory I have though; I also love your videos too, they are always so well put together and so beautiful. Keep up the amazing work!

First, I love Apollo's new design. He's so small and soft looking, I just want to pick him up and hug him. Jackson looks so big and fluffy, and Lunis' new design is just... chef's kiss. The stripes are beautiful on her.
I like that we're getting a lot of focus on Jackson and Vivian's bond, too! I always felt like it didn't get as much focus as it could have in the original despite how it was said they used to be close. I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the reboot plays out from here.
THE IMPROVEMENT OH LORDS??? I love how this story goes sooo much!! Lem, this is just so good! Thank you so much for rebooting TSH into this, the old story is so nostalgic, but this is a whole new level and I absolutely love where this reboot is going, this is a great episode 1, a powerful beginning and sign me up for the whole ride, I can't wait to see how this will play out!

Is it just me or is there a sort of pattern between Jackson and Vivian in this episode? I know calling shots on the first episode is a little early but I wanted to theorize a bit about their behavior.
I think Jackson is an enabler type for Vivian due to his submissive nature. Not that he's doing it on purpose; I doubt he even knows he's doing it, and he absolutely has the best intentions, but he unintentionally harms her. In the episode, when they get to talking about their mom (a topic that's clearly repressed, from the way Vivian reacted), Jackson quickly shuts down the topic as soon as Vivian starts opening up about it and expressing her deeply held thoughts and emotions. I get that they couldn't have kept talking about it anyway even if they wanted to, because of training starting in 10 minutes, but the fact that apparently it happened years ago and Vivian still hasn't opened up about it indicates that Jackson has been letting Vivian keep it bottled up inside of herself for literal ages. It's impossible that the topic didn't come up before, and since it wasn't addressed as evidenced by this scene, it had to be dismissed. And Jackson didn't assert himself to force Vivian to confront it in any situation. Again, he'd clearly never hurt her on purpose, and maybe it has no bearing on where we know Vivian will end up, but that sort of thing can definitely harm someone's emotional intelligence.
We also see Jackson's submissive behavior opening him up to bullying from the relentless Thorn cats, and he has to be rescued twice in this one episode. This would also stunt Vivian's emotional growth. While Jackson is clearly already empathetic and emotional and openminded, Vivian is stuck viewing Thorn cats as "the cats who I keep having to protect my brother from" and therefore, as an extension, "the cats who are awful and all hate us and who I don't belong with." She helps her brother to her own detriment, and Jackson of course doesn't realize this is happening and that it's bad.
His submissive nature also prevents him from confronting her on when those flaws (that are exacerbated from the things I just talked about) come out and harm others. Like when she made fun of Lunis and Apollo and he ran after her. Initially he did the right thing and interrogated her on what she'd just done, but instead of talk with her about why it was bad or inquire deeper into why she felt the need to do that, he just offers to reward her behavior by eating with her alone. And she ends up rejecting this, but he still lets her go off on her own without confronting the situation or him.
Come to think of it, this all might've also given her a minor superiority complex; by having to be the one to defend her brother so often, and having that brother never make her confront her own misdeeds or emotional burden, she could have begun to give herself a little bit of an ego. That would explain why she doesn't like it when Lunis defends Jackson and starts befriending him. It SHOULD be a dream come true to Vivian, since her brother seems to finally be happy and getting a friend, but in her eyes, it's HER job and only SHE can do it, because she's perfect, and Jackson always affirms this perfection, and since he's the only one who loves or cares about her he MUST be right. A bit of this ego can also be seen when she's met with Vixy. She recognizes Vixy as the second-in-command of the Cursed Empire, which I can only assume at this point to be a rival to the Kingdom of Thorns if not their full-brown war enemies. But instead of being like "Hey! How on Earth did the literal vice president of this nation we're rivals with/at war with get here, and why are they here?" Vivian instead says "MORE IMPORTANTLY, how do you know my name?" and doesn't give the whole "second-in-command of rival empire" another thought. This extreme ego, combined with the mistreatment from Thorn cats, opens her up to manipulation, as we can see by Vixy stoking it and providing it with compliments we can only assume she never gets except from her brother. This would make her trust the wrong cats much easier.
Again I don't think that Jackson's doing it out of any malice. He genuinely thinks he just needs to be soft on his sister. But all of these traits point to him enabling Vivian by accident by not stepping up and guiding her when she needs it. Or maybe I'm just completely wrong and this is all a coincidence.

@@galemtido Of course! :D I really love looking at characters' behavior in-depth and I was honestly relieved there's so much more to these characters rather than just "edgy sister doesn't trust people because sad story and the soft brother is a perfect uwu boy." You gave them a wonderful dynamic, where both are victims (sometimes of each other by accident) but neither are abusers (at least yet; we all know what road Vivian goes down). Fantastic writing, keep up the phenomenal work!
Heya, I know this is an older comment but I wanted to throw in my own 2 cents, particularly when it comes to terminology. I hesitate a bit when it comes to labeling Jackson as an enabler this early in the series, for a few reasons. Firstly, as a sibling of the same age, grappling with the same trauma, Jackson isn’t really in a position to stop Vivian’s behavior; or at least, he shouldn’t have to be, that’s a parent’s job. They’re both adolescents/young adults, I believe, and expecting one teenager to be responsible for the mental well being of another teenager is… bad. Secondly, I think the term “appeaser” fits better, as Jackson _does_ call out Vivian on her more toxic tendencies, several times, but he backpedals HARD when she gives an aggressive reaction. As someone with a sibling who has an unpredictable temper, this behavior is sadly very familiar to me. Jackson _desperately_ wants to be on Vivian’s good side, and I imagine the fear of losing her (in an emotional sense) like they lost their mom is a contributing factor. She’s the only stable amicable relationship he’s had for years, so of course he wants to keep it as smooth and problem free as possible.
However, I can easily see Jackson shifting from appeaser to enabler as he and Vivian train with their father. Desperate to remain on good terms with her, I can see him making excuses for her, ignoring warning signs, taking on more than his fair share of responsibilities and so on, until Vivian’s behavior finally comes to a head, and their relationship fractures.
We can see that Jackson is acting with the best of intentions and is trying to help her open up about their shared trauma. (See: “why are you so eager to force it out of me?!” Implying Jackson has inquired about this before) But Jackson is also just a kid himself, and he’s in waaay over his head. They BOTH need trauma counseling, and neither is equipped to be the other’s therapist.
There’s also a certain level of codependency between these two, I think, and that just further complicates things.

@@404_NotFound-q8l Oh yeah, I guess “enabler” wasn’t the best term to use. Because enablers make excuses for behavior and Jackson just doesn’t know how to deal with the behavior. I’m not saying Jackson SHOULD be responsible for Vivian’s mental well-being - as you already said, he’s juggling the same trauma as her - probably just that unfortunately it’s not the best personality pairing, but you can’t force either to change. I guess we’ll see further on in the series whether or not he turns into a straight-up enabler type, or if he continues with mild appeasement.

I love how this is like a parallel universe where Iris kept Jackson and Vivian. And I also love how Vivian as so much depth to why she turned against her brother, and we also see where she really started her journey as the antagonist.
I LOVE the touch in the scene where Jackson is consoling Vivian, the butterflies mirror the characters situation. At least, I think that’s what’s happening!

I think it’s because she’s desperate for things to get better. She’s sick of the constant bullying from the Thorn cats, so when a stranger (who happens to be second in command of an EMPIRE who’s ruled by her father and saw her when she was a baby) offers to make things better, Vivian is inclined to at least take that walk with her and see if she’s up for it

I was admittedly a little distracted by chat during the premier so this is after my second watch but legit I am so stoked to get to be along for this journey for a second time! I am super stoked to be able to play Vixy again, I'm excited to see where she and everyone else go in this new direction, thank you so much for allowing me back! Jackson's and Viv's relationship is already SO strong from episode one and it's so easy to see how much you've grown as both a storyteller and as an artist. Of course massive shout-outs to the whole crew for managing to make one cohesive as heck looking treat for the eyes! Also also also, my fellow cast? Knocked it out of the fuckin' park!

Vivian changed to evil right as Jackson made friends with Lunis and Apollo. It kills me to see what the difference is from how Vivian treated Jackson before that and after.
One thing i like about Vivian's symbolism to the thumb nails is that slowly as the episodes go by you can see she's clearly not ok in her mind before even Jackson notices, especially with her just wanting to blame others without any evidence or any reason to blame the thorn royals
Or easily trust a stranger without a question ( Vixie )
Or how shes in her own world mistakes normal polite conversation as cruel and mockery towards her and thinks abuse and violence from Aries is normal or tough love
Not to mention how hypocritical and delusionally judgmental she is towards Lunis and Apolo just because theyre royal when Vivian is litterally a princess to the cursed empire and should've acknowledged it by now
Or how easily ok she is with hurting others or consider murder and even thinks theres nothing wrong with it and you can
See her considering it multiple times even tho Jackson just sees it as her being angry
And not taking it seriously until its too late
Or just how she clearly cant see whats right and whats wrong from the start and doesn't see how she's throwing away everything good in her life and making her life worse
Just to get the approval she's so obsessed with from her father or thinks Jackson replaced her and cant stand seeing him happy with someone else then her
But also points back to how hypocritical she is when Jackson pointed out the truth ( your just trying to fill the hole in your heart )
It shows how her mom's death is what broke her mind in the first place
And is trying so desperately to keep her "family" together
And even tho i have pity she just makes me infuriated alot but i geuss thats also supposed to be the point but over all gives a good plot for a villian
I do like the transition from Ares being a guy that was only doing the horrible actions he was doing in the previous one with some regret to the ares now that does not give a shit what he does regardless if he is influenced by the curse or not lol

I love how the story is more about Vivian and Jackson, I like the new take to the story, it makes more sense that they would be more of the main characters rather the secondary characters.

Having only discovered your original series about a year ago I'm so excited to see where this goes. I always love seeing artists I follow improve and change. There's already such a world of difference between this reboot and its predecessor. And not sure how to describe it, but I felt such a deep sadness watching Vivian make her decision near the end knowing what I know from the original series. Already have a feeling this series is gonna be a real tear-jerker.

First of all, WOW???? This REALLY blew my socks off. Everything in this episode was just done so beautifully. The characters, the acting, the art, it’s all amazing!! I love everything, the new designs (LITERALLY THEY ARE SO GREAT I LOVE THEM), the dynamic between Jackson and Vivian, the way the story is playing out, and the art, which is immaculate!! All of the artists did so well, the backgrounds, shading, characters, expressions, atmosphere in each scenes, and everything was done so beautifully! The voice actors also did an incredible job!! I love each of the characters' voices so much! They were so clear and expressive, showing each characters' personality perfectly. Amazing job everyone!! I am so excited about this series!

Holy wow!! :0 This turned out amazing!!! Huge props to everyone who worked on this, gosh the artwork is so pretty and I love the color palettes here!! (I especially love the character designs, they’re all so unique from each other!) Great sound design and the voice actors are so good! The writing is very nicely done too, dialogue and story-wise! The episode released right as i went on vacation, glad i am finally able to get to it. The art, the music, the camera shots, the voice acting all fits so well to create an amazing first episode! Im very exited to see how the rest will be put together and watch as the story unravels between the two siblings ^^

coming back to this ep after the latest one is literally heartbreaking .. jack and viv love eachother so much and seeing their rift is so sad
I LOVE THIS THIS!!!!!!! The Voice actors, the Story, the Art the characters!!!! I love Jackson's and Vivian's relationship and I can't wait to see what happens next!!! Also Apollo is so funny!!! I can't wait to see baby boy Atticus!!!
IT IS HERE AT LAST! Everyone did such an amazing job putting this thing together! Watching it gave me lots of serotonin and I loved every second of it! The reboot is going to be so amazing and I can't wait to see how the rest of the series goes!

I am very interested in this direction that the reboot is taking, and I like the sibling dynamic between Jackson and Vivian, and the friendly interactions with Lunis, Apollo and Jackson. Apollo is a cute round boi, I do love his design. All of the VAs did a very good job!

This is one of the very very very few successful animation series on TH-cam! Many others have seemingly flopped, or the animators no longer update it. I’m very happy this is being rebooted, it’s so interesting and there had been so much improvement since the older version. Don’t get me wrong, the older version is very nice, but this one probably will be better! No, *definitely* be better! I’m so excited :)
I love the new bond between Jackson and Vivian! Apollo and Lunis are cute and the new colors on each character is awesome!

Apollo and Lunis are such great characters as well, honestly being the only ones who are nice to them. I’m super excited to find out what happens next. You guys are amazing! ❤️

This was absolutely amazing! Your style in art, character design and story telling is so advanced! It is nice to see the difference between the first series and the reboot, you have improved so much! I really loved the scene and the performance that voice actors gave the character, I no lie got Chills during the opening scene and the ending scene (I don't want to say the scene exactly because of spoilers lol). I loved the characters interaction they were really well written, especially the relationship between Jackson and Vivian. Really out did yourself! Can't wait to see how epic this series gets!
I like the shift in point of view. I loved Lunis and her story in the original, I mean long lost royalty, having to ascend to the throne early due to her mother going insane, powers being corrupted. It was an incredible story, but I feel as if this change in POV is really nice! There was so much potential for this sibling duo in the original imagine this one! Also I appreciate the fact that you tried giving the cats coats that aligned with what their parents coats were. It’s a nice detail! I like the redesigned Lunis as well she seems more natural.
I CANT BELIEVE ITS OUT! this is def one of my fav animated series on yt, i miss this so much, the nostalgia! ur characters always make me feel a pang of sadness in my heart when i realize they arent real, they are so welll developed and unique 🥺

OH MY GOODNESS! I saw it on patreon but seeing it actually on youtube?!?!?! Alex you have improved SO much! With every drawing and backround, you can see the effort! The sound design is incredible and everyone did beautiful at their voice acting! The expressions are so powerful and the way the tweening is used is amazing! All of these amazing things come together to make one beautiful episode! You and the other people who are part of this project are talented!

VIVAN AND JACKSON'S INTERACTIONS IS EXACTLY WHAT I CRAVE FOR! THE PURR- I-
OKOK- The fact that the original series started with the royal siblings and now the reboot is starting with the cursed siblings is just PERFECT! We get to see things from their perspective and I'm fucking HYPED FOR IT!!! I do have to say that Vixy and Vivan were a bit quiet in the last segment of the episode. I had to turn my volume all the way up to hear them properly. Maybe turn down the sounds of the crickets or turn up the vocals a bit for a better listening experience. Other than that, everyone did amazing!! I'm so pumped to see the next episode!!
When i look at the original episode 1 after this, i think to myself: Wow, its improved so much! The story and the animation too! Well done gaLEMtido!
Plus, going back to the story change, it's become more focused on jackson and vivian. Like their life behind the scenes from the older episodes.

This episode was absolutely phenomenal. The lighting and the shading are so detailed and the scenes are so well written, especially each cat’s personality. It’s absolutely amazing. I cannot wait for the second episode. It’s going to be awesome. Keep up the good work 😊
