Those hollow point triggers make a big difference to feel for the better imo ☺️
If you check a price tracking addon to your web browser, you will see that within the past 30 days, the price of this airbrush was increased from 69.99 to 89.99. Thank god they're offering a 20$ off coupon. So generous. Common a bait and switch by the seller. No one is getting a discount on the price... I appreciate your review and I don't doubt you've been honest with the info. There's nothing wrong with an inexpensive airbrush! I've got one myself. Price fixing and fake discounts really don't help the cause though. I will be pleasantly surprised by your integrity if my comment is left here.
Well sir. I leave all comments except for rude nasty ones. Which yours is not. Unfortunately I am not a big enough of a channel to get the attention of the big companies like Iawata or Harder and Steinbeck. Which is fine. I am you, the average guy working a nine to five, and when I am approached by these, let's say, lesser known companies offering products that us working folks can actually afford then in most instances I will jump on the chance to review them because I know how hard it is to come up with the extra money for something that we want but don't necessarily need. Especially since it is for a hobby. Sad thing is that when dealing with these unknown companies there is only so much information that can be found out about them. And I do try to do my best to find out as much as possible. For example this particular item when I reviewed it was not as expensive as it is today and there was no bait and switch type of scheme going on, which seems to be the theme with most of these types of companies now a days. I have recently changed my ways of reviewing items. I have actually had several deals fall through because I tell them up front that their product will not be reviewed on my channel until I am fully satisfied with its functionality and I see how they treat their customers as far as if there are any issues with their products and how they respond to those issues. For example my latest review video of the Bucasso Trigger Style Airbrush. I used and abused that airbrush for over three months before I reviewed it. I appreciate your candor and your insight for others to read and learn. I made this channel because I love sharing my hobbies with others and I love helping others. Whether that is to learn a new skill or to simply inspire someone to get out and start creating. Thank you for watching and leaving a great comment. Take care.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies I really appreciate your reply and your opinion. My natural inclination is to assume that negative comments will be removed, so I mistakenly figured the same here. You've proven my theory wrong! Thanks for that.
@jefftimothy Keep me honest brother. 👍
@@jefftimothy I mean, to be fair, your comment wasn't really that negative anyway. The only issue you pointed out was how the price has changed in the last 30 days, and this video is about 10 months old so the $20 discount is irrelevant at this point anyway. Not to mention the way the company prices has nothing to do with RRH, so he would have no reason to feel personally attacked by what you said in the first place haha
I'm new to air brush for gundam, just got mine because of your video, its working, and its nice so far, thanks shows us
Hey Eric. I am glad to hear that it is working well for you. It still blows my mind of how nice of an airbrush it is for being an entry level airbrush. Gundams are pretty cool. I've only put together two small ones from Bandai. I didn't paint or weather them though. I bought them with the idea of working them in an N scale model railroad diorama. Either as displays for like a movie theater premiere, or just a stand alone battle scene with destroyed buildings. I'll probably do that latter someday. Too many ideas and not enough time in the day.... Thanks for watching and commenting. I do appreciate it very much. Take care.....
You got me! Gotta try this out…. I’ve been just useing paint markers… thanks for your intell!
Thank you for the video! I have been shopping around for my first ever airbrush setup and this is exactly what I have been looking for. Just bought it, that $20 coupon is hard to pass!
I'm glad I was able to help you in your decision making process. You will not be disappointed with this airbrush kit. I'm in the middle of painting a hot wheel with it and I'm am still blown away at how well it is working. I've already ran a white createx autoborne primer through it, several coats of crearex red spatkle flake through it, and created H20 candy paint. Just waiting on that last coat to cure before I top coat it with createx UVLS 4053 super gloss clear. And so far it is spraying flawlessly..... Thank you for watching and commenting. Take care......
Just ordered one. I'll be happy with it working decent, I got it for my primers only.
Great Reiew.
I'm adding this to my inventory. I have an Iwata Eclipse with a substantial air compressor but after purchasing this I don't think I'll always need to set it all up for small paint jobs. It looks very well made.
Sounds like we have the same setup. I use the kit when I go camping. That way if something happens to it I'm not out much. I use the portable compressor with my eclipse hp-cs when I'm home. It works great.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbiesApparently the folks at Ovaga listened to you. I just unboxed my new Ovaga and they now have a braided hose. I'd send you picture if I could figure out how to do it. -Another Paul
I "pulled the trigger" and bought it. I've been on the fence about getting an airbrush. This video sold me. Thanks Paul! I got the $20 coupon no problem.
That's great Bruce. I am glad that I was able to help you in your decision process. You are going to love it. I am still amazed at how far the quality of these inexpensive aircrushes have come over the years and like I mentioned is the best one I have used.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies
I got the airbrush and started playing with it. I clogged it up because I don't know what the heck I'm doing. Then, during disassembly too close to the sink, I lost the little trigger piece (the fiddly part between the actual trigger and spring) down the drain!
Now I can't find a replacement. I bought something that looked right but of course didn't fit. Any ideas on where/how to find parts? I'm wondering if it might be a knockoff of a more established brand that might be a part share candidate.
So, I'd say to others considering buying this to take into consideration the availability of replacement parts when deciding to buy your first airbrush.
Hey Bruce. That sucks big time. I can't say that I haven't done a very similar thing when i first started out. It was the actual fluid nozzle that i dropped down the sink. I've had several folks tell me that this airbrush is very similar to the GAAHLERI airbrush. I don't know if they sell parts or not.
@@hotwheeleveryday OH MAN, to lose a small piece down the drain, it's almost like losing a ring there. I have a filter so stuff don't go the drain, but I still will NEVER go near that kitchen sink lol. Well, here's my almost loss... TWO times. I lost the fluid nozzle (yes, that very, very small nozzle) of my model on the floor... two times. Fortunately I found them both times with a very bright flash light while on my hands and knees with my face on the floor, almost cursing myself LOL. I did lose the O ring for the nozzle though (the bigger part) for that same model, the Casubaris, but I got lucky. While you can't get extra parts for the Casubaris, the nice thing is it's almost identical to the Master G233, 99%, even down to the fitting size and O rings. Currently, I'm waiting for the extra parts for the Master so I can snag that O ring for the Casubaris lol. Oh and the Master can run with Casubaris' compressor, I'm gonna get a big Master compressor that comes with 3 more guns, and the Casubaris gun can take advantage of it. We all lose things, TINY things lol, I've lost many things, so I always work on a table over a bowl and never move across the kitchen with any of them unless they're put back together. Lesson learned, and I hope your lesson is as forgiving as mine was, but if not, hey, I've been there and I feel for ya!
@@hotwheeleveryday Try Iwata I have a GoCheer airbrush that looks exactly the same as the Ovaga and they look like one of the later Iwata Eclipse airbrushes.
Hello Paul. I just wanted to let you know that I have really been enjoying your videos. I’m also a model railroader. I purchased one of the inexpensive “all-in-one” airbrushes from Amazon back in December. I’ve never airbrushed before and thought it was just ok. I then saw this video that you did and thought this one looked a lot nicer. I was able to return it and purchased this one. Today was the first time I’ve used it and it worked great! So much better than the other! I practiced with water like you suggested in one of your other videos. When I switched to paint it did a wonderful job. Thanks for all your tips and I look forward continuing to learn.
Thank you Michael for the kind words. You and others like you are the reason I do this. Everything thing that I have learned has been for the most part,.learned the hard way. We didn't have youtube when I first started modeling. Therfore I felt the need to share what limited knowledge I have with others. I love helping. And I always tell myself if I can make just one person's modeling experience even a little bit better to where it lights that fire of excitement in them to continue modeling, well then it's all worth it. Thank you again. Take care my friend.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies You are always appreciated. I am new to the airbrushing world, but as an older artist in other areas, I totally feel ya on not having good learning resources to start out. These tutorial videos, and the depth that you go into, are insanely helpful. I had a hard enough time learning sculpting on my own, I can't even imagine how rough it would be to learn airbrushing and such without helpful people like you out here!
@artlove9577 Sounds like we've both gone through the school of hard Knox a few times. LOL.
Thank you so much for converting me.., after watching your video I ve sold my Iwata eclipse, 2024 evolution squidmar black edition and gsi creos ps-771on ebay and ordered one of these as i don't need these expensive ones if i can buy exactly the same quality as you said as eclipse for far less ..., thank you so much again, love your unbiased videos , can't wait to try my new Ovaga
Thanks for the video. You sold me. Been looking for a beginner air brush for scale modeling. Ordered one today. Plus the $20 discount made it hard not too. Thanks 🍻🍻
Hey Brian. I'm glad I was able to help you out in deciding to get into airbrushing. Once you get over the learning curve of using a new tool it's going to take you modeling to a new level. Thanks for watching...
Thanks for the review video, I'll be buying one and hopefully still have the 20.00 off coupon at first of the month.
I think I'll stick to my Badger Anthem 155 with my .5mm needle. I think Badger makes a nozzle and needle kit to get it to 1.5mm and I'll switch if I ever need a finer needle. So far the Badger does everything I want it to do. I love my Badger and use it strictly for acrylic painting. I've got an old Chinese Harbor Freight siphon feed airbrush that I use for lacquer and enamel painting. Harbor Freight has a new gravity feed Chinese airbrush for $26.00 I want to try. It looks exactly like the Ovaga and I've seen a review on the HF one. I still use my old Harbor Freight compressor that came with the Chinese airbrush. I also have an 8 gallon air compressor that I have set up to use with my Badger. So far I haven't really noticed the surge from the little 1/5 HP compressor. When I do I'll switch to the 8 gallon tank. I also am a model railroader in HO and O scales. Cheers from eastern TN
I did it! I needed the small compressor, (using my big garage one is a pita) I have an Iwata brush but after watching your video I thought this is a no brainer! Thanks so much for sharing w us! Oh, and at 59.95 less a 10% discount! Wow....
I agree with you. The no name companies have gotten really good. Honestly airbrush tech has not changed for 30 years and the design is all the same so it is no surprise that no name companies have mastered the tech in a short time.
much needed video, my bday coming up and ive been scrambling to find a budget first-timer airbrush for hobby painting and this is the video i needed!! so excitied to get it
Happy birthday. Mine is coming up as well. I hope you enjoy it. I liked it so much that I am currently creating a video where I'm using it to paint a hot wheel car to show what can be done with an beginner friendly airbrush kit. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care and happy modeling.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbiesnicee! Mine just came in today! Now to get started!!!
Have fun........
Well, I just bought this kit a few minutes ago and reading the comments I realized that it is indeed a great birthday gift (which is coming pretty soon), so I have a great excuse for another trinket in my house! The $20 discount is still valid as of March 2024. Love your videos! I did notice that you don’t use a spray booth. Is that by choice? Have you been spraying without one throughout the years? I am planning on using acrylics for my models and definitely like your approach to painting where less is more somewhere else more important. Thanks for all you do for us!
Thank you so much for watching my videos. And I appreciate the comments. As far as a spray booth goes. I don't have one for a couple of reasons. One is the price. I would definitely like to have a decent sized one and as I'm sure you are aware, they are not cheap. Two to five hundred for a good sized one. Now I could save up for it but my workshop is currently in my basement where I have glass block window's and only one window that us above my work bench has an ity bity window that will open. And there is no way to feasible have a spray booth on my workbench. So I spend my money on other items. Now that may change. I am currently turning a spare bedroom into a workshop, so in the future I will definitely have a spray booth. Just so you know. I do wear a respirator when I am painting. The only time I don't is when I am recording a video and I need to talk. So definitely make sure you at least wear a respirator. Also when I am painting for myself and not for videos I do have that little window open and I have small box fan suspended from the floor joists and it is running to keep air moving. Just be careful. You may think, oh I only paint a little bit here and there, but that little bit can add up over time. Thanks again for watching and reaching out to me. Take care.
As a gundam modeler looking to jump into the airbrushing realm, I really liked your review of this item. I'm gonna jump in and buy it!
That's awesome. Your gonna love airbrushing. It really levels up the looks of your models..
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies So I got the Ovago and did some test runs. Simple enuff to use. Just need to practice on many spoons haha. I have a question about cleaning it. Do you always have to clean it so that it's in its pristine condition? Asking since some spots with color are a little bit hard to reach. I tried dipping it in rubbing alcohol and brushing it. It does a better job, but there always seem to be a little speck remaining. Very thin though. Is that ok?
FYI, I'm using Vallejo Air acrylics and just cleaning with 90% rubbing alcohol. TIA!
You really need to get as clean as possible. That little bit of leftover paint could build up over time and eventually cause you issues. I would suggest getting a purpose made airbrush cleaner. I use createx airbrush cleaner. You can pick it up from Amazon, or if you have a hobby lobby near you. Thats where I buy mine. You could also pick up cheap ultra sonic cleaner off Amazon. That's what my brother uses to clean his airbrush with, and bonus he cleans his wife's jewelry with it as well.
Dude I enjoyed your video, and I'm glad I got to see your channel, and of course I subscribed.
I'm gonna be honest I wasn't gonna watch the full video I've never used and airbrush and I ordered one yesterday and it showing up by 10pm tonight I make custom shoes and have been using brushes not airbrish and you showed me everything I need to know about it your right about just throwing the paint in it I was gonna now I'm confident about this purchase and excited to make a new pair of shoes
I ordered one too. Thanks. Looking forward to playing around with it.
Ordered one and super excited to try it out, thank you sir!
Great review! Thank you. I purchased this today, 5/9/24, on Amazon. Base price $59.99 + 10% off coupon. 1 day delivery, so up and running tomorrow. Again thanks for the thorough review. Happy painting!!
That's awesome. You are going to love it... Have fun.
How is it running for you? Did you get it for miniature painting?
It works ggreat. I don't do miniature painting. At least not yet. I paint hot wheels and stuff for model railroading such as rolling stock and buildings.
I just ordered it thanks to your video. Got the 20.00 savings also
Awesome. I'm glad their still offering the 20 dollars off. It's a great portable airbrush kit..... Have fun with it.
okay I purchased. Now I need to learn how to use it. Thanks
I do have an airbrushing 101 for the complete beginner video on my channel. Go check it out... Thank you for watching and commenting. Take care...
That looks like a really nice kit. The airbrush looks like a rebranded Gaahleri GHAD-39. I have one and it looks identical, down to the 8 channel nozzle which I believe only Gaahleri sells. So the airbrush alone (with different paint cups and needle sizes) sells for $45 on Amazon, and is a fantastic airbrush for that price, so it's surprising to see it with the compressor because as you've seen those packages usually have a cheap throw-in airbrush, but not this one.
Hey John. You may be right about the brand of airbrush. Ovaga didn't tell me if it's a rebranded airbrush or if they are manufacturing it themselves, doubtful. Regardless, it works great. I just painted a hot wheel with it using Createx paints. I used their autoborne sealer, cosmic sparkle, 4030 balancing clear, candy h20, and their uvls 4053 gloss clear. Granted I had to thin the sealer and the clear coats just a bit more than usual, but the fact that I was able to shoot the cosmic sparkle through that .4mm tip set, well color me surprised. I even used their little compressor. I got the same exact results I get when using iwata and a full sized air compressor. Anyhow thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it very much. Take care and happy modeling.
bought one today using your link, and the $20 off coupon still good!
Awesome. Thank you for the update about the coupon and most definitely thanks for using my link. Take care...
I can't find IT ON the German amazon Site, and all I found on eBay was a used Set ! Any suggestions ??

Thank you for watching. I'm glad my video was able to help you find the airbrush for you. I just posted a video today where I showed how to paint a hot wheel using an inexpensive airbrush and I used the Ovaga. It worked great. And thanks for using my link. It is definitely only pennies, but pennies add up..... Take care.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies this will definitely be a learning curve , I have never used one
@lisairv6318. If you need help, I'm here. .
Great video. Do you have a link to a hose you recommend for this kit?
Here is the one I use. amzn.to/47LXFjR
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great video. I'm considering buying this combo. Will it spray thicker materials with this tip/needle? I'm spraying leather paint for car touch-ups. The paints are close to enamel viscosity. Any help much appreciated. Thanks again for you work.
This comes with a .4mm needle and nozzle. You would most likely have to thin your medium. You have to thin almost all mediums with most airbrushes, including most airbrush specific paints. I make leather goods and the only medium I don't have to thin is alcohol based stains like Fiebings. Here is another airbrush that I just reviewed that comes with a .8 mm needle and nozzle. You may still have to thin your paint but it's double the size of the one you are looking at. No compressor though. It's just the airbrush.

Thanks for the recommendation on the AK. Do you think it will connect up to that slick ovagga cordless compressor?
@legocowboys it sure will. I use my Iwata's with it.
Hey, Paul -- Loved your Airbrushing 101 so much I ordered one of these on your recommendation. I looked through the comments here to see if there was anything said about the following question in the Owner's Pamphlet, but couldn't find anything, so...
The Owner's Pamphlet says "As the battery is charging, the LED indicator display screen will display a green light battery charging symbol. The screen will also display 100% whe the battery is fully charged." However, when I plug my compressor in to charge, there's no green light -- just a blue light in the center of the 3 lights, and although the instructions say the battery will charge in 35 minutes, I've had mine plugged in for a few hours, and have yet to see any indication that it is fully charged.
Is this a case where the documentation has not kept up with the actual design/manufacturing of the product?
And yes, I know... you didn't sign up to provide tech support for Ovaga, but after searching online, I haven't been able to find anything like customer support, and figured I'd try asking someone else who owns one of these.
Hey Loren. I am glad to help. That's why I started this channel. Anyhow the compressor lights turn green when fully charged. They are a lightish blue when charging. If yours isn't turning green I would have Amazon send a replacement.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbiesThanks for the speedy reply! Well, the instructions do say the 35 minute charging time is if you have a fast charging adapter... I'm guessing the adapter that came with my Samsung phone doesn't qualify. I do have the light blue light(s), so I guess I'll wait a bit longer and see if the green light appears. I can use that time to locate a fast charging adapter :-)
Love it ordering it tomorrow Have you tested the 26$ airbrush from harbor freight?
Hey Jeff. I have not tested that airbrush. The last time I bought an airbrush from harbor freight was when they first opened in our area, which was eons ago and that airbrush was a plastic handled biggest piece of junk I have ever used. So I have really haven't wanted to buy one from them again.

any idea how long the compressor will run on a charge?@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies
hey there great detailed review. how does it compare to the no name compressor with detachable battry .. its orange n black in colour ... it puts out about 12 psi. I recently got it and loving it.
I have never used that system you are talking about, so I really can't say. Sorry....
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies no worries .. thanks for replying
I keep having problems with mine after I took ot apart. Is there any washers missing around the novel area?
Great review. Thanks for the info. Thanks for sharing. Dave
You are welcome Dave. Thanks for continuing to watch my videos and commenting. I do appreciate it......
Love the video just curious about run time
20 to 30 minutes if you are running it continuously at a low to medium setting. Several days if you are just off and on like painting a small diecast car or using it for weathering. It will run while plugged in and charging. I had a big painting job and had to run it plugged in. I was painting almost continuously for a little over an hour and I did have to stop because it was starting to over heat. But I ran it hard that day. And it is still working just fine.
I wonder how long the compressor will last? I have had a problem with the longevity of inexpensive air compressors. Hopefully it’ll last a decent while.
As do I. I really like this kit, but I don't have a clue as to the longevity of it. I will however be using it quite a bit in the near future so we will see....
Great video. Looks great. Just a quick question. Being new to this airbrush painting i was talking to my local hobby store owner getting paint recommendations and he informed me about the extreme danger of using spray paints, both rattle and airbrush in my basement due to having a gas furnace. Is this real? Never once heard this fact mentioned in any painting video
Your thoughts?
That is a great question. Let me make a big disclaimer here. I am in no way an expert on safety when it come to that question. I definitely would not rattle can paint anything in my basement. I don't know what kind of propellants they use. I can only speak for what I use. I use all water based acrylic craft paints or water based acrylic airbrush paints through my airbrush. I don't use anything that I am aware of that would cause an issue. Again I am not qualified to give you professional advice in this subject. I do airbrush in my basement, but I have a window with an exhaust fan running when I am painting. I would definitely "NOT" paint with any form of enamels or anything of that nature. Again, just to cover my behind. I am not a professional on the makeup and / or volatility of paints. Paint at your own risk. Now that I have completely scared you, thank you for watching and the great question.
@RoadsAndRailsHobbies thanks for getting back. I understand your response and appreciate it.. sobif I understand this setup up, it's portable so I could take it outside on the deck and use ut easily with no issues.. maybe just make your cardboard booth like your other video and be fine.
Thanks. Great channel
The product description says 85 decibels. Does that sound right? About as loud as a blender?
Not To me. Not even close to a blender.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies thanks! I think I'll try it. Google says that's what 85 is similar to. Maybe it meant blending rocks.
Hello, I have this same airbrush, and the manual says something about green lights and a display screen but mine is like yours and does not have a display and my lights are blue. What indicates a full charge? 3 fully lit LEDS ?
You are correct. Once all three light are lit up then the unit is fully charged. Also you can use the airbrush while it is plugged in and charging. It will slow the charging process down a bit while its being used, but that's an option. Thank you for watching and commenting. Take care.
Hi Paul just seen your post very impressed with the Ovaga air brush but hear in GB on Amazon uk it's £ 219.11 so won't be buying one soon 😢
Hey John. That price sucks. I've heard the same thing from other viewers in GB as well as in Canada. I'm wondering if it's some kind of import tax because it's coming from China.
Seems like a good quality airbrush but the compressor seems to be a little bit loud
Hey Lyle. On the contrary. The compressor is pretty quiet. Granted it's not going to be as quiet as a silentaire DR-150. But it's not almost 700 bucks either. Also I use a high quality microphone when recording and I have it set to plus 10 decibels, soooo.... it's still very comfortable to work around.
I got mine today. The compressor is pretty quiet.
Can you do a video on how to reassemble it? There is one little piece behind the trigger that I cant figure out how it goes back in. There isnt anything in the manual either that shows a parts breakdown :(
Hey there. Actually, I showed how to reassemble it in the video. You need to use tweezers. Preferably angled ones.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies oh my. im a dope. I saw the video a month ago and purchased the brush based on the great content. Do love it
I evidently missed that pertinent info lol 😂.
I found your video in my history, and this time I didn't rewatch it Oopsies
🫢
No worries. It was a dagone long video.... Heck I had to skim through it myself just to make sure I did show how to reassemble it. LOL.... 😁
So what if I want to replace needles for this brush. Like the 0.2,0.3,0.5. Can you help me on getting those. I purchased this kit after watching your video
Well I'm not able to help with that. I don't work for Ovaga. I simply reviewed the airbrush system so I have no idea if they offered different sized tip sets. I doubt that they do. I did suggest they offer a kit like that in the future and they did say it was something they were thinking about. Look through the comments on this video. A few folks have thought this airbrush was a clone of a popular one sold on Amazon. I don't remember which one they mentioned, but if you find it, perhaps that brand sells tip sets that may be compatible. Sorry I couldn't be more help..
$20 coupon is still valid at the time of this post. aaaaannnndd I'm taking advantage of it!
Awesome. I'm glad the coupon is still good. You're gonna love it....
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies This hobby has a lot of rabbit holes haha
Does it ever. LOL
Just bought one from ur link but got problem at first try. When I push down the trigger the air come out but when I pull back no ink or air comming out. You have any idea why this happened?
Well that sucks!!! Ok, so the first thing that I would do is to remove the handle, losses up the chucking nut for the needle, pull the needle back a little bit to make sure it moves freely then press the needle all the way foreword until it is seated properly amd then make sure the chucking nut is tightened down. Then move the trigger back and forth to make sure the needle is moving. If it is. I would just put some water in the paint cup and see of it will come out. If the water sprays out without any issues, try your paint again. If the paint still won't sray then most likely the paint has not been thinned down enough or depending on what paint you are using you may be getting clogged up by something in the paint. I don't know your experience level with an airbrush so forgive me if you have already tried this. Let me know of it works or not.
I didn’t notice, but did you mention how long the charge lasts for, on this particular unit?
The directions state that is will last one hour with moderate use and about half an hour of constant use. But the best part is that you can plug it in and it will charge and allow you to continue to use it at the same time.
I just ordered one on EBay 59.99 us plus postage and vat came to £75 total for UK. Can I buy other airbrushes and use the compressor with them? Would you recommend one?
Hey Robert. That's awesome you were able to get one cheaper off ebay. I know they are ridiculously expensive through Amazon for UK residents. And to answer your questions. Yes you can use any airbrush on the market that has a standard air hose hookup which is almost all of them with the portable compressor. As far as my recommendation. I love my Iwata eclipse HP CS. I actually just released and airbrush buying guide if you will video. Go check it out. Thanks for watching and commenting....
Is the compressor connected to the power all the time, or charged? I almost bought it, but I don't think if it's a big enough upgrade to change my portable airbrush I have (the same you showed for a moment, the decent one).
It is rechargeable just like the one you have. It also will still work if plugged in and charging. As far as upgrades go, I like this compressor better. Other than being able to change the psi, and granted it's not perfect control like you would have on a shop style air compressor, but it's better than the "handle" style. At least for me. But the airbrush alone makes this kit worth the upgrade from the one that I showed. I'm like you though. Don't make a rash decision. I like to look at all the angles before I spend any money. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it. Take care...
Currently returning mine, no clue what was wrong but it just never worked out of the box. Don’t know if I need to set it up or anything but I thought it’d work out the box. Thing sucks.
Sorry to hear that it didn't work. It's odd that it didn't work this companies products are very good for their price point. Still I hate to hear that something doesn't work, especially since I said it is a good product. Thank you for letting me know though that way if I hear more issues from viewers like yourself, then I will most certainly not work with a company again to review their products. Take care.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies based off all the good reviews I decided to do the return for a replacement option. So hopefully the replacement works?? If it doesn’t then yea it truly is a bad product in my eyes. I’m still hopeful. There isn’t anything you need to do to get going though correct? Just pour the paint in the cup and start spraying? I tried that and no paint would come out, but I could feel the air. Very interesting.
Question. Are you using airbrush specific paints and are you thinning the paint that you are using. If you are using craft paints like Apple Barrel, etc. right out of the bottle, they are too thick to go through an airbrush.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies my good sir, I followed u and only used the paint that came with lol.
I lost my nozzle trying to clean the airbrush. Any ideas which one I would use for a replacement?
Bryan. Sorry to hear. These airbrushes are made by the same company that make the Gaahleri branded airbrushes. Here is a link to what may fit. They also have upgrade packages. Which is a whole nozzle and needle set up if you want to change the size. Again. This is a might fit. Your best bet would be to contact Ovaga and ask them if they have parts for sale. Sorry I can't be of more help. www.gaahleri.com/products/gaahleri-airbrush-0-38mm-nozzle-of-quick-self-centering-structure-for-cs-36-ghad-68
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies thanks for taking the time to reply. I will try my luck! If you have any chance to give some feedback recommend replacement parts! Over all it's been a great starter set for me.
Update: Sadly I have continued to have problems after some beginners luck. I have moved on from the compressor and now I have to move on from the brush.
Does that little compressor really work?
It works wonderfully. It's perfect for model painting. Mind you I would buy a full sized air compressor if you planned on airbrushing for hours on end continuously. But for the general hobbiest it's great.
Any idea if there are any other nozzle/needle sizes that will work on this?
Hey Devin. Not sure. I do know their made by the same company that makes Gaahleri airbrushes.
Does anyone know where i can but a replacement nozzle for this airbrush? I bought a 04mm nozzle from amazon and now it wont work
I can see this being a good deal for a hobbiest but i wouldn't use it if you're painting realistic portraits.
Probably decent for some tee shirt work too.
But get a decent compressor
I agree 100%. That's what it is marketed as on the Amazon listing. But it is great for what it is.
Maaaan... i was about to buy it from this review but i looked at the less than 4 star average rating on Amazon and checked out a lot of bad reviews, i don't know about buying it now
That's sad to hear. Mine is still working great.
@RoadsAndRailsHobbies I'm still very tempted to buy
It's important to know exactly which airbrush this is because eventually you will need to buy replacement parts. What you have looks like a Gaahleri GHAC-98, not the cheaper GHAD-39. The GHAC sells for $69, although the price may be going down now that Gaahleri is pushing their Mobius line. Parts are cheap. Is the actual maker Fengda? I dunno. Chinese capitalism is unfathomable, with the same products bearing multiple brand names.
They do sell the paint separately -- 24 colors for 30 bucks.
I'm really curious about these newfangled mini-compressors: I've never used one. Where's the air intake? Does it get hot?
If your compressor vibrates, place it on a cushion or a folded-up blanket. I once had a bulky loud compressor that was about 10 db quieter when I suspended it in mid-air with ropes.
New one on the other site goes up to 40 psi USB c rechargeable with digital output screen looks pretty well made definitely temped at 50 bucks

Thanks!
Thank you so much for the super. I would love to see some of your work sometime.
I got this and it doesn’t work?? I filled it with paint and hooked it all up and nothing comes out????
ive had a problem with the paint comin out after my first few paints is their away to fix that
Coming out? Spraying from the nozzle. Are you shooting multiple colors, one after another. If this is the case then you should try doing a quick rinse and clean with airbrush cleaner in between color changes. And definitely filter your paints. And are you thinning them to the right consistency. I'm just guessing here. I don't have enough information to be more accurate. Sorry.
im using the paint that came with the airbrush but i deped cleaned it and it still wont spray paint but it sprays air@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies
There £275 on Amazon in the UK Just Checked. Much cheaper to buy an Iwata
I keep hearing how much more expensive it is from folks in both the UK and in Canada. I don't get it.
i'm finding the .4 is too small and doesn't move enough paint. I emailed ovaga if they sell a .6. also sure wished the floating pice was attach. a real pia to reassemble imo :(
I agree about the trigger part being a real bear. I believe Ovaga is changing that. As far as the .4 being too small, may I ask what type of paint you are using that you are having issues with. I've ran everything from super thin airbrush paint to thick craft paints through it. Mind you I am thinning the paints accordingly to work with the .4 needle.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies hi, im using their paint as well as other ready to spray acrylic.
From day 1 it seems to hardly move the paint. Trigger wide open. Air pump on / full power doesn't matter. Can spray ok for a few minutes then it peters out and clogs. Paint is new and not viscous.
The pump will often pulse on/off. Ive cleaned the heck out of it.
Ovaga said they were working on a new version for the trigger and did indeed admit customers were having difficulty.
I ordered a new pen kit that includes .3/.5/.8 needle . This one is not working out unfortunately.
I would clean it and return it then. Sounds like possibly a problem with the air pump.
Did you ever say what the "magic button" actually does? Is it the high pressure setting?
I believe I did. But if I didn't. It is the button that allows you to change the pressure settings on the air compressor.
£217 on Amazon UK. Unavailable on the USA one. Doesn't seem available on Aliexpress neither. Nop!
I just get why it is sooo much more expensive in the UK.
What is the magic button?
It's the PSI adjustment button. This is the first I inexpensive portable airbrush compressor that I have used that allowed you to change the air pressure. And in my humble opinion, that's pretty awesome.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies how many inexpensive compressors do you have or have had?
Hey there. Well I have had 5. Two were thankless diaphragm compressors that the only way to turn them on and off were to plug and unplug them. They were obnoxiously loud and over heated relatively quickly. I have had a one gallon compressor that was ok, but again super loud. It wasn't as loud as the first two, but since it had a tank it would turn on unexpectedly when I was airbrushing and it always made me jump. I messed up quite a few paint jobs because of it. And finally I have had two of the small rechargeable airbrush compressor such as the one you see here. Thanks for watching and asking a great question. Take care...
It looks like that box has been passed around from reviewer to reviewer through Pony Express lol
Nope. It was sent directly to me from Amazon. Just how Amazon handles packages.
Sadly, in the UK the price is £276. That's about $350. Oh well.
Holy smokes. That is crazy. I was talking with a gentleman from Canada and he said pretty much the same thing. It was over 250 for him. I'm guessing its mostly taxes?
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies I honestly have no idea! I didn't expect to be able to use the voucher, and did expect it to cost more, but...
I know you said it wasn't a biased review. But none else has a review on this airbrush and after day one it never worked the same again. I can't do any small details without it shutting clogging and not working. I've taken ot completely apart over and over again cleaning it. I've thinned my paint and I've also not thinned my paint. I do not recommend this airbrush to anyone as it will only make you frustrated.
I have one question for you. Have you filtered your paints before loading them into the airbrush? If you are having serious problems then I would definitely contact Ovaga through their Amazon page. They should make it right.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies That's the only thing I haven't done. But they are airbrush paints. And im not even upset with you I'm just reaching out trying to figure it out before I accept my losses and throw it out.
@markeldamgaard don't throw it out. I hate to see anyone lose money. Send it back or contact them and have it made right.
great price on American Amazon... over $250 on Canadian Amazon... dang
Whoa. That's crazy. Why so much more. Does Canada have VAT taxes and such?
So, my third time using it, and the compressor is sputtering and won't give a steady stream of air anymore.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I would definitely send it back to Amazon if you still can. If not you will need to contact Ovaga. I'm sure they will make it right. It must be a dud. Mine is still working great and I have abused the heck out of it.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies thankfully it turns out it was just user error.
When I took the tip apart, it had full air flow again, so I figure there was a tiny bit of paint trapped causing the air to taper. Even after soaking the tip in cleaner it still kept doing it, but after priming a few models it began giving a steady air flow again.
Don't take my comment as criticism though.
I'm brand new to this and just trying to struggle through the learning process.
I love this airbrush and the little air compressor, and I found your video to be incredibly informative and helpful.
I look forward to using it quite a bit.
Cheers!
Mine was doing this but it wasn't the compressor's fault (I could tell that because if I removed the nozzle, the flow from the unit was continuous like it should be). Turns out, the bit in this video about the fluid nozzle being three distinct parts is key. Clean them all. Mine had dried paint caked so badly It took a soak just to get the tip unscrewed.
Anyone try this with WH 40k minis???
Currently unavailable. on Amazon
Wow.....It is a great bit of kit. I'm sure they will get more in stock soon.
At 5:57 you mention that Ovaga "put the proper 'O' ring on the paint cup".
Can you please show a photo of the 'O' ring that you mentioned.
My understanding is that the cap is a press fit on the cup to prevent it from falling off.
I have never seen an 'O' ring on the paint cup or the cap.
Maybe I've been looking at the wrong airbrushes.
At 6:34 you mention the 'pre-set knob'.
At 7:05 you say it's a "really nice feature on this airbrush'.
Most dual-action airbrushes in the market these days have this 'nice feature'.
So the Ovaga is just following the trend.
Nothing new.
There are little rubber seals or O rings on the cap of of the paint cup on many airbrushes that help give that nice tight fit. And just remember this is all my opinion as far as "nice" features go. My favorite airbrush is an iwata eclipse hp-cs. It's a relatively expensive airbrush and it does not have a preset handle on it. I also have an iwata eclipse Kustom that does have the preset handle, but that airbrush is really expensive. So for me to see a quality entry level airbrush offering that, well I think it is a nice feature.
Thanks for the info.
At that price it better be the best lol over $200?
Hey Penny. I take it you reside outside of the US. I have talked to several folks that live in Canada and the UK and they say the same thing about the price being so much higher.
Out of stock already.
Algorythims
this is 3 star on amazon. while it might be the best of its type. its still not worth buying.
Perhaps not. But if you are on a very limited budget and want to get started airbrushing, this kit is pretty darn hard to bear. It has everything you need to get started. Granted it will never replace my Iwata's. Thanks for watching and commenting...
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies You've used it, I haven't. I was too quick to judge.
It's all good. I go by the ratings myself. When this was sent to me they had just listed it on Amazon and there were no ratings at that time. I have been in contact with the company and they are aware that there have been a few problems with some of their units, but they were remedying those issues. I know my airbrush kit they sent me came from my local Amazon warehouse. I received it in two days after they agreed to send me one and it was dropped off by an Amazon driver. So I'm sure mine wasn't hand picked to be a perfect one. I am certainly hoping that the issues they have had are flukes. But the fact they informed me about them means a lot. I won't back someone that is selling junk. Time will tell if I continue to work with them. They did mention that they have more products coming that they would like to partner with me over. A couple of the products were suggestions I made to them. But I will always say. Buy the best you can afford. If you can afford an Iwata HP CS or something along that line and a nice quiet air compressor then do it. I know that I would.. Thanks for chatting with me. It has been a pleasure
