Hello everyone and welcome to Roads And Rails Hobbies. I have always been interested in different forms of art. I have a background in graphic art design and photography. During my degree pursuits I was introduced to 3D modeling. This opened a whole new avenue for me to explore artistically. I continued learning about 3D modeling and purchased my first 3D printer. At about the same time my love of model railroading resurfaced and I thought what better way to bring all of my interest in the different art forms than to build my own model railroad layout.
So that brings me to the reason for creating this channel. Model railroading can be an expensive hobby, and I wanted to create my own layout without breaking the bank. I want to share this journey with all of you. Hopefully what I learn will help you in creating your own layout.

Shit it was not just a 1st edition. LOOK FOR FUTURE REFERENCE THE BLUE CARDS WITH THE RED CAR ON IT ARE RARE. 😢 😂❤
That's 👌, the brick wall make it look authentic and I love the Golf coloured internal! Those guys sitting on the roof though, that's definitely an OHS violation 😂
Ah you noticed the Gulf colors. My all time favorite livery. And them dang kids sitting on the roof. Lol.
Looks great the lights really make it pop
Thank you very much...
dude that is some sweet scratch building!
Thank you very much.
❤❤❤❤❤ I love it!!! The one thing I have a question on is it hard to couple the trains together ?
Nope they are super easy to couple. You can even stage a car with open couples and back the train into it and it will couple that way also.
Is the screen wash ready to use or is it a concentrate?
What I am using is ready to use, not concentrate
Hi Paul can you use regular paint thiner
Hey Anthony. If you have regular paint thinner already, I'd say give it a try. I don't know how it will react with acrylic craft paints though. I have used airbrush paint thinner with them, but then again that's made for acrylic airbrush paint. Just keep in mind, regular paint thinner is really nasty stuff and you will be atomizing it so definable wear a respirator and be in a well ventilated area.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies thank you Paul for the information on this subject sincerely Anthony Ciotti
These look like vintage passenger coaches like those used in the steam locomotive era. Stefan locomotives and old style passenger cars like these are still used on tourist railroads.
Looks like another nice tool. You answered my first question about extra sandpaper before I got to ask it. Not immediate need, but sometime could you post how long a power charge lasts. I realize it will vary depending upon what speeds you use as well as how often the handy light is used. As an aside, I own its big brother, a Ryobi plug-in model for woodworking that also uses adhesive sandpapers in coarser grits.
the gears on mine have a screech. any pointers?
Oil. Just a drop. You can either buy slot car oil, or what I do is buy a quart of 100% synthetic motor oil and put it in a little squeeze bottle that has a tiny little metal tip. You can find the bottles in the art supply section of most craft stores like hobby lobby or michaels.
very sweet little device.....well reviewed
60 bucks is not bad for a cordless and illuminated recip sander.
I didn't think it was too bad of a price either. I looked at other sanders of the same type and the price was almost the same as some corded ones.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies You got a new sub and like brother. I could def hang with you have a couple of beers and talk tools. Thanks for the upload, I thought I had every type of sander out there, but gladly, I was wrong!!
You mentioned an airbrush link.
Here ya go: th-cam.com/video/qMsUIR6h-l8/w-d-xo.html
Does that little compressor really work?
It works wonderfully. It's perfect for model painting. Mind you I would buy a full sized air compressor if you planned on airbrushing for hours on end continuously. But for the general hobbiest it's great.
Never done airbrushing your video makes me somewhat less nervous to try. I put this kit in my cart on amazon going to purchased on payday
That's awesome to hear. I have many airbrush videos on my channel for the beginning airbrush user.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies I will be checking more out Thank you
Cool tool
Who is the manufacturer??
It is sold by color peak, but the kit itself is unbranded.
Does it pulse the paint?
It does not pulse the paint. Nice steady flow of continuous pressure.
I wish everyone did reviews like this. I hate when I'm trying to see how loud something is and the video gives no actual context as to how loud it is. The monologue is super helpful!
Thank you. That's exactly why I did it that way. Like you I could never find a real life example of the noise level. Noise meters don't do me a darn good. LOL
You should sell those spray booth kit!
How does this "newer" airbrush compare to let's say a HS Ultra?
I can only compare it to airbrushes the I have used. I have never used a Harder and Steinbeck ultra. But it is very comparable to Iwata Eclipse hp-cs.
Great list of essentials. Yes, the respirator should be first.
8:35 I go to the smoke shop and buy a pack of 10 stainless steel or brass pipe gauze for a dollar and stick one in the paint cup. Strains as I paint and it’s a great hack vs having just one micro mesh funnel. You get so many pipe mesh you can toss a new one in the cup each color change.
Interesting. I never knew such a thing existed.
Good little video
Great Reiew. I'm adding this to my inventory. I have an Iwata Eclipse with a substantial air compressor but after purchasing this I don't think I'll always need to set it all up for small paint jobs. It looks very well made.
Sounds like we have the same setup. I use the kit when I go camping. That way if something happens to it I'm not out much. I use the portable compressor with my eclipse hp-cs when I'm home. It works great.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbiesApparently the folks at Ovaga listened to you. I just unboxed my new Ovaga and they now have a braided hose. I'd send you picture if I could figure out how to do it. -Another Paul
Paul!...brilliant!..retired guy..just bought my first kit, poured a wee dram and enjoyed ..thank ya..and a fellow lefty, well done and appreciated
Thank you for the kind words. I am glad that my video was helpful. Take care.
Those hollow point triggers make a big difference to feel for the better imo ☺️
Thank you Paul, I tried windshield washer fluid today and it worked awesome, I’ve always got a gallon or two on hand! I used it with Folk art Metallic 2964 silver sterling.
Awesome to hear.
For scale models, would this set or the portable set be best??
Either one will work fine. Just depends on whether you need to be completely portable or not. If you will always be working from like say your work bench the this one would be great. Don't worry about the PSI. It's nice to have the higher PSI settings, but I rarely paint above 25 to 30 psi.
Great video, thanks. I'm so glad that you use the term "left-over wood" and not scrap wood like all the other irritating people "build stuff from scap wood"
There is no such thing as scrap... Just items waiting for a new life.
Hi there I live in the UK and have just ordered ..my thoughts though are regarding power supply ..do I need adapter of some kind or will it simply plug into mains ..240v 3 pin plug..hope you don't mind me asking
I honestly don't know how that works. I am assuming you purchased it through the UK Amazon site and not the US one. If that's the case. Let me know when you get it so others can have the answer as well. Oh, and it's never a bother to drop me a message. I love talking to people that have the same interests as myself. Take care.
@RoadsAndRailsHobbies many thanks , I've tried to find contact info for Omaga but can't seem to find any..shall await delivery..worse case I'll need a converter/adaptor which is no big deal ..thanks for sharing your mind of knowledge on TH-cam it's always a pleasure 🙏.
Ovaga I meant lol
I will try this, thank you for sharing this information. 👍👌😇
You are welcome. Thank you for watching....
When masking I usually spray a little clear so it locks those edges in and don’t get that bleed through.
I use Createx paints on all of my model car building. Great paints, lots of color choices, and great in my airbrushes. I started using their 4021 reducer. It reduces tip dry and no shelf life when mixed with their paints.
The 4021 is out now. I saw Createx talking about it awhile ago but I have not been able to find it.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies I had to order it from spraygunner
do you not use a moisture trap on the fortress compressor? i just bought the black widow compressor because i couldn't find the appropriate adapters lol
I actually have one attached to the end of my main airbrush line.
I can't find IT ON the German amazon Site, and all I found on eBay was a used Set ! Any suggestions ??
Candy 2o has no pigment, it's dye based, just fwiw. That aside, glad you're happy with your paint job, congrats !!
Have you ever airbrush any head sculpt, and if you did, are there any videos on it, if not is it something you can show? I AM LOOKING FOR MORE IN FORMATION on skin tones, I have seen many, where they use , kin tone, red, blue and finish with yellow. You videos are to much easier to follow with!!
I don't do flesh tones at all. But I do watch this channel th-cam.com/video/-2SF_ifLB60/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HAWWR3T4d8okPgZX It's groundaffectedstudios. This guy shows how to paint skin tones and it looks relatively easy the way he does it.
That looks sweet… My favorite place to get Createx Paint is SprayGunner, good price and excellent customer service. Great video
Why do you not like siphon fill? I'm a total novice looking to buy my first airbrush. Watching these to help me decide what kind to buy.
I prefer gravity fed. It just seems to work smoother and I don't seem to have as many problems with a gravity fed. But that's not the reason I didn't like that airbrush. It was one of my first airbrushes and it was super cheap and just a complete piece of junk.
I had the same thing happen to me. I bought what was supposed to be a sealed case of Lego minifigs. That was to guarantee me and my friend would each get a complete set. It turned out to be missing two, both the same figure which was the most valuable one.
One detail you didn’t explain was how you kept the chrome rims when painting the wheels. Did you mask them also?
Nope. I painted the whole rim orange then came back with a chrome paint pen and did the rim.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies thank you for the prompt reply! I’m not having much luck with my old Molotow chrome pens. They are coming out more silver lately. What brand are you using?
@jimmyzwheelz I am using the molotow paint pens as well. I'm not having issues yet, but you are not the first person to tell me they were having issues with that brand.
If you check a price tracking addon to your web browser, you will see that within the past 30 days, the price of this airbrush was increased from 69.99 to 89.99. Thank god they're offering a 20$ off coupon. So generous. Common a bait and switch by the seller. No one is getting a discount on the price... I appreciate your review and I don't doubt you've been honest with the info. There's nothing wrong with an inexpensive airbrush! I've got one myself. Price fixing and fake discounts really don't help the cause though. I will be pleasantly surprised by your integrity if my comment is left here.
Well sir. I leave all comments except for rude nasty ones. Which yours is not. Unfortunately I am not a big enough of a channel to get the attention of the big companies like Iawata or Harder and Steinbeck. Which is fine. I am you, the average guy working a nine to five, and when I am approached by these, let's say, lesser known companies offering products that us working folks can actually afford then in most instances I will jump on the chance to review them because I know how hard it is to come up with the extra money for something that we want but don't necessarily need. Especially since it is for a hobby. Sad thing is that when dealing with these unknown companies there is only so much information that can be found out about them. And I do try to do my best to find out as much as possible. For example this particular item when I reviewed it was not as expensive as it is today and there was no bait and switch type of scheme going on, which seems to be the theme with most of these types of companies now a days. I have recently changed my ways of reviewing items. I have actually had several deals fall through because I tell them up front that their product will not be reviewed on my channel until I am fully satisfied with its functionality and I see how they treat their customers as far as if there are any issues with their products and how they respond to those issues. For example my latest review video of the Bucasso Trigger Style Airbrush. I used and abused that airbrush for over three months before I reviewed it. I appreciate your candor and your insight for others to read and learn. I made this channel because I love sharing my hobbies with others and I love helping others. Whether that is to learn a new skill or to simply inspire someone to get out and start creating. Thank you for watching and leaving a great comment. Take care.
@@RoadsAndRailsHobbies I really appreciate your reply and your opinion. My natural inclination is to assume that negative comments will be removed, so I mistakenly figured the same here. You've proven my theory wrong! Thanks for that.
@jefftimothy Keep me honest brother. 👍
@@jefftimothy I mean, to be fair, your comment wasn't really that negative anyway. The only issue you pointed out was how the price has changed in the last 30 days, and this video is about 10 months old so the $20 discount is irrelevant at this point anyway. Not to mention the way the company prices has nothing to do with RRH, so he would have no reason to feel personally attacked by what you said in the first place haha
Great video thank-you!
Thank you for watching.
Does anyone have the file? It looks like it got removed. .
Thanks for the great video. I'm considering buying this combo. Will it spray thicker materials with this tip/needle? I'm spraying leather paint for car touch-ups. The paints are close to enamel viscosity. Any help much appreciated. Thanks again for you work.
This comes with a .4mm needle and nozzle. You would most likely have to thin your medium. You have to thin almost all mediums with most airbrushes, including most airbrush specific paints. I make leather goods and the only medium I don't have to thin is alcohol based stains like Fiebings. Here is another airbrush that I just reviewed that comes with a .8 mm needle and nozzle. You may still have to thin your paint but it's double the size of the one you are looking at. No compressor though. It's just the airbrush. th-cam.com/video/qMsUIR6h-l8/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the recommendation on the AK. Do you think it will connect up to that slick ovagga cordless compressor?
@legocowboys it sure will. I use my Iwata's with it.
I really would have loved to see them included the same selection of paint with this kit as well so you can get started right out of the box with premixed paints…. I only just watched your video yesterday on the battery version and I added it to my cart on Amazon so I can think about it and then this video popped up into my feed and I think for the same price that this one makes more sense to me… I don’t need to be that portable and the improvements on the actual airbrush. Make a great deal of sense….. I had bought one of those little cheap compressor in the hand attached directly to the airbrush kind that you showed in the last video and never was able to get anything approaching usable out of it so fingers crossed if I buy one of these Ovaga kits, I will have better luck
Been there and to that hot wheels dealer
