I’m glad you mentioned the YB cam pulley alignment, I had someone question why I felt the need to run adjustable pulleys with standard cams, but as you mentioned, soon as you take a skim of the head and deck the block they standard marks are miles out.
we have all recommended LRTIME for all things Land rover. No finer man to learn from than Christian who knows nothing about Toyota. The level of detail and competence shown by Christian and Vera would certainly be a big plus for Barum .
Lee, Cam timing along with ignition timing are super critical for efficient engine operation & making maximum power. This is why you have keyless engines with locking tools/pins so you get everything spot on. Marking pulleys with tip-ex or a sharpie is absolutely no help with a keyless engine set-up. The Renault F4r n/a engine is a classic example, many a local garage have failed to change the cambelt successfully (& the odd main dealer newbie).... If your Cosworths have had so much chopped of the heads & blocks then start fitting offset woodruff keys or recommend vernier pulleys, even if only to get the standard timing marks to line up...this is still not perfect cam timing but better than being half a tooth off...lol. The amount you charge should reflect the quality of the job, half a tooth out cam timing does not really cut it in my book...it's all about standards.
There’s definitely a ‘trick’ to timing the LR V6…. there is a peg behind the starter motor that will make sure the correct teeth line up… especially when the trigger wheel is fitted.
I don't think they read the comments or are too proud to pay attention to 'amateurs' ? People have been advising them for weeks to have a look at LR time, but here they are still guessing and debating.
@@gregculverwell I was one of those that recommended LR TIME, an extremely competent couple that do not resort to guesswork. I know which I would rather trust...
Lucky you’ve got subs that know what they talking about, personally I had no idea. I don’t no why they don’t have a small ring gap grinder in the shop, walking in and out would drive me mad. The guy’s that picked up your mistake give them some merch

H'mm marking the pre-stripping timing with 'tippex'....your are, of course, assuming it is correct!!. over 60 years ago my dad got a 'factory rebuilt' 'A' series BMC engine...wouldn't start, many hours of checking later, found the problem the 'Factory' had managed to get the distributor back in 180 degree out😂
LR 3.0 looking from the front there is a plug hole which is where a crank stop pin is to be inserted. This is used in conjunction with the flywheel timing hole. Both should be lined up
I got the Sealey Units, mine differ from yours a bit. Have been really happy with them. I went for the stainless work surfaces as well. I have peg board at the back though. Thousands of pounds spent and they don't supply a single peg would you believe it? 🙂
If you want to see how to time up the Landrover engine maybe you want to watch "LR time", they have completely rebuilt and installed a new engine into there recently purchased LR that had a failed engine.
I know a few people have said about LR time Watch the first 2 mins of this one it’s shows the slack on flywheel bolts could make a difference to the timing th-cam.com/video/qFfLJRCSgcc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Z8u2Shk0NyneOfR6
Many people have referred them to LR Time. I'm getting the impression they're ignoring it as it would mean admitting an amateur (in the true sense of the word) knows more than they do.
I’ve seen so many people mention LR time with not so much as a mention of them or thanks for all your recommendations but we would like to follow the LR assembly guidelines rather than follow someone for TH-cam I agree Lee may know a lot but can’t knock experience from someone that’s done a few and knows his stuff
Pinto ? Pet hate its a ford SOHC . A PINTO is a ford USA engine . Care to share the differences between our SOHC ford and the USA ford pinto? Please ? I can start with one the SOHC uk 3 cam bearings over to you
You're getting too much wrong, these days, Lee, as I'm sure many on here agree. I really do not understand how you can spend (waste) so much of your AND ISAAC'S(!) time in your videos casually chatting about how little you know about LR engines when all the World and his Dog have been telling you to swallow your pride and to learn something from Vera and Christian at LR Time. You will also enjoy their fun and humour in all that they do. Do not be too proud to learn or to accept that advice offered here may actually be helpful. Every day is a skool day - and don't forget that Isaac is still very much "at skool" and will benefit greatly from looking at LR Time. I hope you do already, Isaac). And they are VERY funny. Your frequency of posting videos here is disproportionate to the level of interest they stimulate. 2 a week, maybe longer, definitely more concentrated with less waffle, would be PLENTY. Also, I cannot stand your larky, dismissive, couldn't care less about the person on the other end of the phone, just joking about not answering the call, saying you can't be bothered. Pretty disrespectful of those who pay for all your toys, of which you boast so much, all the while neglecting to upgrade your machinery and workshop equipment and also, neglecting to employ someone to look after your work areas - yes, get it clean and KEEP it clean. Checkout equivalent U.S. YT workshops.(For equipment and cleanliness). BTW, what ever did happen about that shipload of free machinery on it's way from the USA which ws going to be the answer to all your prayers.....? We haven't had an answer/explanation yet. The click-bait titles are getting too tired, tedious and transparent. Tone them down.

John reminds me of Cpt Mainwarings wife! We heard her walk across a bedroom floor, spoken to on the phone - but never saw her!!

@Vera_and_Christian of LR Time have excellent TDV6 rebuild videos. Well worth a watch if your doing a few of these engines.

I put this in a comment weeks ago and my comment got removed
It's odd they haven't taken our advice about LRTime it's not as if it wouldn't bring in a ton of work be specialists in SDV6 rebuilds
However much hassle you must answer the phone. You won't always be flat out

You guys should have watched LR time Christian goes into this in great depth . It’s easy to get this wrong
I like John's style, 'keep it normal' ; respect.

You need to watch LR live Christian will show you so. Called engine experts a lesson or two😂😂
I think you'll find when you build the Kseries engine, when the locking tools are in place the crank is 90 degrees BTDC
Isaac - recently swapped the coil packs in my DIL's Impreza - not too difficult a job, just a bit restricted for space.
Have you actually watched the LR Time videos on rebuilding this engine that so many people have told you to?

You really really need to go look up LR TIME he has built 3of those !!!!

Love to see the crank grinding
Didn't know George Clooney rebuilt engines.

Had a Camry with ticking and weird idle.. Was shorting tube onto head!!. Electric tape one wind fault gone!
What happened to Paul?
Lee explained a few months back that Paul now has his own garage and doesn't need the top-up work anymore
@@stephenscholes4758 Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
Issac I'm planning to watch the whole Legacy saga in one hit when I'm on holl next month, once there's a resolution
What river did that cossie motor get found in? Gonna be a treat to see just how factory you guys get it

But that would mean admitting an amateur knows more than they do.
Bring on the merchandise 👍
What is the 2nd channel for Isac ?
Now you bring it to mind. That Cosworth head behind you does look to be sitting noticeably lower on the block. Or is that just camera angles?

Still doing the clickbait headings I see.
👍👍
Wouldn't it be funny if it turned out that the new Bugatti V16 was just 4 oversize Cosworth 200 blocks stitched together?
Sad to see that you choose to do a video instead of answering the phone which is your business
