  • To get started on your countertops, visit www.foxgranitecountertops.com.
Y'all wanted to know what to do to prepare best for the install. So I'm here to tell you.
The first thing you want to do is the day before we're coming or the morning of, is to clear off your countertops. In addition to clearing off your countertops, you'd also want to empty your cabinets, just the lower ones underneath your countertops. You could put a towel or a sheet covering everything, but the reality is you don't empty all of that, you'll probably be taking off every single plate one by one and cleaning it after we leave.
Our process is really, really simple. When we walk into your house and knock on your door and introduce ourselves, the first thing we're going to do (if you have existing countertops) is that we're going to pop them off, disconnect your sink, and haul them away.
After that, we'll bring every single piece in, one by one, and make sure it'll fit right. So we bring a piece in, figure out where he hits the walls, how many gaps you have, how to seam it together, make sure those seams lay really, really smooth when it makes the turn. If everything is all good, we lift the countertop up, we glues it down, we sets it permanently.
If minor adjustments need to be made, we'll take a piece back outside. We'll notch out where he has to notch out. We'll bring it back in and you'll never know the difference.
After that, we're going to set the sink. The sink is usually an under mount. Not to say you have to go with one, it's just more advisable. You can wipe everything directly into your sink. The under mount-- we're going to put underneath the countertop, cut out grooves on the outside of the granite underneath so we can bolt it into place so it'll stay there for life. We'll still put some adhesive and of course, we'll caulk this gap right here so no water gets in between. Following that, depending on what faucet you chose and how many holes you want, we're going to drill the faucet holes for you.
After we get all of these pieces beautifully installed like you see right here to as close as perfection as possible, we're going to clean everything up with acetone. Get all the gunk up and we're going to put our Dupont 15-year Bulletproof seal on. Now, this stuff is the highest rated seal that we could find on the market and the most expensive. We want to give you guys the best possible seal so nothing happens to your countertops.
Of course, at the end of the day, we want you all to see it. Make sure you like the work that we did. Thank us, hopefully, that we did a good job. You love it as much as we love it, too. And then we clean up everything and leave it as clean as we entered your house.

I install granite countertops everyday. If you use harsh chemicals like windex, amonia, bleach. You will have to seal it more often. Soap and water or granite cleaner works just fine.

you couldn't manage to do something about that gd smoke alarm? Why? It would drive my dog crazy. Really he'd be trying to climb on top of my head. Everytime the battery was going dead it would make that noise. But just a few days ago after 15 years he's gone. And moving to a new house and I want an island. I have my granite picked out but don't know where to start.

Shouldn't one double/triple check measurements/pieces before having to bring anything in? Both counters and piece(s), in case of off measurements or unforeseen additions? I don't mean to be rude, but that seems like common sense and a huge time/energy save for the install crew.

Acetone on quartz... 😑 that just calling for burn marks and the countertops should never be lifted to be silicone done for warranty and removal (if necessary) purposes.

Never had acetone do this to me but then again I don't leave anything sitting on the tops. I've heard what it really is, is the fact people use those metal containter id assume reuse as I do and the cans start to rust or collect crud. Sooooo....when people go to pour it it drips down the side and if you leave it sitting on top of quartz it will seep in specifically when you leave the acetone can sitting on the top!!!. I relate it to as if you were to accidentally put wd40 on viscon white or fantasy brown but worse. Keep shit off the tops except a calk gun on occasion and paper towels as you are working. Why have a home owner see you do there kitchen and the first time they see there tops sitting in place its a fucking clutter. I don't know I love and fear acetone. Because it takes off all the stuff that you and the fabricators leave behind such as colors , glue ,calk, and not to mention if you clean your seam before and after using razor blade it will save you from chunking out and not have to apply another coat. Idk I just saw a recommended(didn't watch but might watch for giggles ) video on how to seam granite using silicone . So I don't know what other people are doing lol. But I promise you the quartz I work with as long as you don't leave the damn can sitting in place moist on the bottom from acetone it won't stain . Put a fucking paper towel under it. You probably have fucked up so many customers floors and cabs if you can't respect acetone.

I apply silicone only in front of top . Thin line to seal the deal between cab and top . The weight of stone plus a little bit of silicone more than does the job. And back splash apply white paintable every single tip if you know how to calk ...on already painted walls you just don't smear. Stuff that is gonn have tile and stuff built to it just do it anyways it looks cleaner quality is what to reach for doesn't matter if they're putting in tile close the gap with out leaving excess.

@@kaelinwade4020 I've been installing for 15 years and the one thing I know for a fact after one mistake is to never use acetone on quartz for multiple reasons. The first is that it voids any warranty the quartz may have and I have seen hanstone come out to a job with a black light and swab in toe. The second is that it may not look it to the naked eye but yes you are burning the resins in the stone and third which doesn't relate to acetone is if you have to mix colours you must be using knife grade which is an acrylic type glue meaning you'll stain the quartz that way as well. I've been around long enough and have fixed enough people's problems to know what I'm talking about as an installer and stone restoration professional to know acetone should only ever be used on granite.

I’ve been fabricating for 14 and literally never had this happen. For the last 8 years quartz has been the more popular thing in my area so I’ve done thousands of quartz jobs and never had acetone ruin it. Must be the brand of acetone I guess

And also add in the addition of not warning customers of HOT PANS/POTS/OBJECTS/ETC placed upon them. Quartz doesn't like acidic chemicals or hot objects.
