    Is there no need to use any sort of adhesive to secure the granite over those cabinets. Is that little amount of silicone on the edges enough to keep it from moving?

    • @diygranitequartz3014
      @diygranitequartz3014  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, the bead of silicone around the edges is enough to hold large countertops in place. If you have a small piece, you may want to apply a couple of dots of silicone on the top of the cabinet and set the countertop on top .

    Standard overhang off the front face of cabinets is actually 1.5”. Peninsula and island overhangs should always be supported over 10” for granite and 12” for Quartz. Quartzite and marble can often only be 8” without support depending on the specific stone.
    You should also always use a two part knife grade epoxy (with colors) instead of the liquid two part used in the video. I’d also recommend a more permanent sink mounting method such as a never fall sink kit instead of stone plugs and clips which always fail over time.
    This video is very generalized, and somewhat bad, information. Pros also laser or material template the job. Not just measure.
    If you’ve followed this video and your excessive unsupported overhang broke, your sink fell, or you seam has come apart then call The Stone Saver to get it repaired correctly.

    Pro never measure his job but do templates and seam most likely must be on the center of the sink ,so you got tiny seem !!!

    • @wow8416
      @wow8416 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never put the seam in the middle of an under mounted sink. Too tricky to blend the joins in, and even then once the sink is there you don’t want to be going near it with a grinder!

  • @wow8416
    @wow8416 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Beading round the front is not the way to do it with a hand painted kitchen. You should lift the worktops and put little dabs of silicone at the fronts before doing any seams
    DIY granite installs should not be done. If done incorrectly you will end up with broken worktops, quartz is a lot more forgiving. Better to pay a pro to install than replace the stone at your cost down the line!
