Thank you! Yup, you're absolutely right! New layer > Shift+option+command+E Just wanted to go through step by step and made sure everything was easy to follow :)
I've done this a lot of times in the past and I can reassure viewers, it's an excellent Photoshop technique. Also, if you want a more advanced dreamy effect, look up Orton Effect. Basically it's like this video, except you combine two extra duplicate layers, one with a blending mode of Screen and the third with Multiply. Simple tutorial, and the results are beautiful.
I have always been trying to figure out how Florabella actions make this dreamy photo effect. Thanks to you I tried your tutorial in one of my photos and result was amazing.I love it
Excellent tutorial, thank you. As a total newbie to photoshop I found this very informative, however i was wondering whether you would consider posting the steps needed somewhere- this would really help newbies like me. However, thank you again for such a well explained and interesting tutorial
Thanks so much!!! Your video inspired me to try my own different techniques....although the music was a little distracting I thought your tut was fantastic!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Wow! I really liked the tutorial... Thanks for sharing... I really wanna learn photoshop. Are there any other options aswell for lightening effects? Or just the ones you used? Thanks
I think you were right in demonstrating this video using the Eraser tool. As you pointed out it is easier for Beginners to understand this concept in obtaining the required result with ease.
I think the original, unretouched pic achieved the look already with shallow depth of field, location and lighting, needing little or no added effects - IMHO. I want to see this applied to an image that really needs help: harsh edges, contrasty and too much background in focus (with no music lol). Still a lovely, helpful video. Thanks.
Very nice, have been looking for this. Only because people learned "Layer mask" I think you do the right thing to erase instead, much more easy to explain to beginners.
Great tutorial. thanks a lot. I have a question. The picture you used here was a soft picture to start with. I do wedding photography, mostly at night. So I get a lot of dark areas in such pictures. They look quite harsh and hard to me. Can we make such a picture softer and dreamy too ? Will wait for your response. Regards
Your voice is very nice and some of your technique are great. I have the following comments to help you with future videos. 1. Use a mic which does not produce the hissing 2. Get rid of the background music 3. Use Mask filled with black instead of the eraser to hide and show the effect. Paint with black and white to hide or show. This will allow you to go back and make edits to the mask later. I hope you will understand that my intention is to help and not be critical. Thanks for creating and sharing this video. If you have questions and using mask please add a comment and I will help.
Thank you! I've done all three in my latest video - filming with a laptop mic can be a bit of a pain and also I didn't want to confuse beginners by using masks, hope that explains why I did what I did!
I m a fan of emily soto's work and i loved your tutorial ;-) ... maybe you know it but there is a good shortcut to 'apply image' : shift+option+command+E :-)
Wow Glad I found your Tutorial --- Wow fussy people it seems on tutorials -- sound -- mic -- your process of your techniques .... Well Ignore all that........I think It's great you do it to not be confusing to "Beginners" KUDOS and Much thanks
Good video and very informative. I have just one criticism though. You have such a lovely voice which is clear and easy to understand, but it is sadly overshadowed by the background music which occasionally makes it difficult to concentrate. Apart from that, perfect! Thank you.
Hi, it would be amazing if you had a written steps to follow. I'm new to photoshop and I'm still getting the hang of it and so what may seem easy to you and other people is complicated for newbs like me:) Thank you!
Hey there, I know what you mean, good question! I thought this would be a good way to do it because after you put on the desaturation layer, you will be lowering the opacity for some of that blur to show through. So that way you're not losing the blur! However you can always do the blurring step a bit later in your editing process! :) Hope that answers your question!
Maybe next time you should put a link to download the picture that you have been editing..because it will be very helpful..& this video helps a lot keep up the work...
I've just made a new tutorial introducing and using masks - I just thought the eraser tool would just be much easier to follow especially for beginners! :)
I used the "Stamp Image Layer" term in the directions which is different than the video instruction ( on a Mac- hold these 4 keys down together) shift + Ctrl + option + e
Question, on the first part, you went BLUR>>eraser to bring out the focal>>then made a copy of the background layer and desaturated it OVER the BLUR layer, won't that desaturate layer just cover your blur layer? You erased a part of the focal only to put on a desature layer that is a duplicate of the background...Hope this was clear...
Sooo unlike everyone else, I actually like the background music. What's the song and artist you're listening to? I'd like to add them to my collection of music I like :)
You should really learn layer mask, super easy and it's really the right way to go, the pro PS group I'm in even put "Don't touch the eraser tool" in their banner cuz it's that bad..lol
Thank you! Yup, you're absolutely right! New layer > Shift+option+command+E Just wanted to go through step by step and made sure everything was easy to follow :)
I love Emily Soto's works and I found your tutorial fantastic! That's what I have been looking for! Thank you very much and please keep going!

Im in love with your voice...
Sorry but why dont y use the level mask instead of the erase tool?? would be more simple and faster as well !! Any way nice video
I've just made a new tutorial introducing and using masks - I just thought the eraser tool would just be much easier to follow especially for beginners! :)
Try sharpening pics using high pass. You'll love it.
brilliant
nice tutorial ;) easy to understand for a german boy :D
General consensus says: lose the background music. I have to agree, otherwise this is a lovely video, it was very easy to follow. :)
great! Thanks!
I used the "Stamp Image Layer" term in the directions which is different than the video instruction ( on a Mac- hold these 4 keys down together) shift + Ctrl + option + e
awesomee...........
nice video. thanks .
funny ending :)
Thank you! :)
Just checked Camilla Akrans and her work is fantastic - beautifully dramatic!
Thnk you so much!!!
Is there a reason that you erase the layers instead of applying masks, which would let you alter them much easier?
Question, on the first part, you went BLUR>>eraser to bring out the focal>>then made a copy of the background layer and desaturated it OVER the BLUR layer, won't that desaturate layer just cover your blur layer? You erased a part of the focal only to put on a desature layer that is a duplicate of the background...Hope this was clear...
Nice
nice!
Great.
Yay.
thank you
i think you should use masking tool rather than the eraser more. thou i like how you did here.. thanks

You should really learn layer mask, super easy and it's really the right way to go, the pro PS group I'm in even put "Don't touch the eraser tool" in their banner cuz it's that bad..lol
