    Good morning from Georgia USA! I have a Jeep Sahara that only has 16000 miles and it's plagued with electronic issues. Radio changes channels constantly.......... Clock wants reset constantly............ Air and heat controls run wild. Dealer says it's delamination of the face plate on the radio........They also say it's common on Jeeps and they are well aware of it but you're on your own to fix it. $2,000 to fix what should be a recall.......... After 16,000 miles............. JUST SAY NO TO ANY MORE JEEPS!

      The touch screen is likely broken due to the touch screen window failing. Had this on a GM, which is common, replaced it myself for $120 and some major dash disassembly and it works perfectly. Bought a 3rd party part too since the OEM was shit.

      Well the radio is a dodge problem. Affects dodge across the board on certain years. The delaminating isn’t from a mileage but a time frame. So if you only have 16k it’s under warranty unless you hardly drive it then the low mileage doesn’t change anything it’s several years old.

    In this one you excellently covered so many issues, some close to home for me, some I already heard of but not experienced (yet, that's it for '21 JLU) and some, good-to-know-are-coming... 😀

    Dino, I've watched 1000's of videos created by 100's of TH-cam channels. Fancy cinematography is nice, but documented, usable information (as in your video and the links) is priceless. You provided truly useful information both in the video and by posting the links to Recalls and TSBs. Based on the links I will be saving over $1000.00 dollars by having my steering box replaced before the warranty expires. For that reason, you are my first subscribed channel ever. Now I'm off to look for a cool new bumper with the money I saved. Anyway, well done!

    Excellent review. As a new Wrangler owner, I appreciate the information you have provided. So far I am pleased with our Jeep, and recently returned from a 1400 mile trip where it ran great and returned 22 mpg driving mostly on interstate. The only negative has been a severe case of steering wheel shake, or death wobble, that we first experienced when hitting a rough spot in the road on a very cold day this winter. I had it in for an oil change at 6000 miles and the dealership made some adjustments, and it has done much better over rough spots, but still shakes a little sometimes. I know the solid front axle is part of the problem. Thanks again for the excellent input.

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Gilbert,
      Thanks for the feedback on the video. The shouldn’t be any shake at all. Make sure the dealer covers the repair under warranty completely. There shouldn’t be any wiggle. Mine tracked fairly well but I never had any death wobble and nor should anyone who bought a JL. Good luck.

    Great video, very informative for existing owners and someones that`s looking to buy a Jeep. Regarding the fuel efficiency, I travel to Sauble Beach quite often especially in the summer. For my recent trip I decided to take my Toyota Camery 4 cylinder to save on gas and for comparison. The savings amounted to $10-15 and I`d prefer to drive the Jeep anytime, the camery is a great car. City driving might be different. This has been the case when I was purchasing my first car V6 Camaro vs Mazda Protege (friend was panicking about fuel prices), early 2000s. After few years when I sold the camaro and got a civic, it wasn`t the same I might have saved on gas but the joy of driving was gone. Jeep filled the void and more as I can enjoy it all year round, love 4x4. Cheers

    Great presentation. My JL is 3 1/2 years with 56,000 miles. Similar electric gremlins like you experienced. My outside mirror on the passenger side won't go up or down, only side to side. Tried a new mirror and switch and returned them as it did not fix it. The window switch for the drivers window is terribly worn. The proximity door handle stopped working. A new handle fixed that. for about $100. I think Jeep needs to repair the corrosion issues even if out of warrantee. I do my own service, but even if I took it to my dealer, they don't charge as much as they do in Canada.

    Great stuff! I can't learn enough about my new (to me) 2019 JL and your channel is one of the best! As for the steering box the first owner did not have the upgrade done, but I noticed the issue right away. I kicked up a stink with the (non Jeep) dealership I bought it from within 30 days, saying it is a safety issue when travelling on the freeway on warmer days (the "slack" feel is accentuated) and they will help pay for it. I was quoted around $1600-1700 for parts and labour.

      @@CheaperJeeperTV Yes it was a month beyond warranty. Initially Chrysler Canada were considering some goodwill financial help with expenses, but through my dealer I heard it was more for original owners. When you contemplated doing yours did you just back off when you were told you were no longer under warranty or did you call Chrysler Canada (Customer Care) and lodge a case? Especially since you are the original owner? I'm not the type of person to kick up a fuss in life but on my 2DR, with a shorter wheelbase and inherent twitchiness it was important to push for it. I take it in on Monday! Ciao!

    Excellent video! I have a 2019 JLU Sahara. Love it! The paint issue in all the spots you mentioned is a problem and know issue. The dealer sent out mine and was approved but will take 2 weeks and won’t provide a loaner so haven’t done it yet. They told me they had one customer who had it painted 5 times and still comes back. Something to do with aluminum reacting with steel especially in the hinges.

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Darrell, The leading edges of the doors, and the hood just have aluminum in those areas as far as I am aware, so I don't see how it can be attributed to galvanic corrosion in those areas. There is a link in the description section of the video that addresses the class action law suit launched in the states regarding this issue, if interested. Cheers.

      @@TheDdacosta Darrel, I believe on the JL, the hinges are aluminum. The bolt passing through the aluminum hinges and body panels are steel. Perhaps they're coated?
      Anyway, before your warranty is up, I'd be checking over every square inch of the Jeeps aluminum panels, and have them fixed. I chose to do mine immediately, so that if there was ANY reoccurrence, WHICH THERE WAS, it would get repaired again while I still have the warranty. Good luck.

    Jeep did well in going from the JK to the JL. There are some items which were not so great:
    • License plate mounting location moved to bumper!
    • D-ring style door latch release handle - not good compared to the large lever style on the JK which are very easy to use even with heavy winter mits on!!
    • Based on all the issues reported by owners, you'd think this is the first time FCA/Stellantis has made this vehicle! Build quality is just marginal at best. Too many minor glitches for a modern vehicle!
    • Interior lighting - did Jeep remove the lights under the rearview mirror that's on the JK? And this is on the LED light group which is e tra cost I believe!!!

      There are a lot of them out there-particularly for the Ram with the same transmission since it's been out longer. It's a pretty simple procedure. You have to drop the cross member/brace, open the side fill, and drop the pan, replace the filter. When you fill it up, you put in as much as it will take, then there's a procedure to shift through the gears to move the fluid and heat up the transmission (The JL has a temperature gauge to monitor it). Then you top it off and put everything back together. It's not difficult, and other than a lack of a dipstick it's not really any different than most other automatics.

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Fantastic fuel mileage (29 mpg at 65mph on the highway in stock form) along with outstanding performance and acceleration! Downside: FCA watched several other OEMs (Toyota, Lexus, BMW, etc.) fail by trying direct injected-only engines that were plagued with carbon build-up on the back of the intake valves. Despite that, they went ahead and made their own engine just like the others. I fully expect I will be needing to clean the backs of the intake valves later down the road. Until then I will enjoy the up-sides.

    Rear gate is magnesium not aluminum

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Hector, Thanks for messaging.
      In the video, I mentioned that the rear tailgate is "skinned in aluminum." But you are correct, in that the internal metal structure of the tailgate is Magnesium. If you look at the hole where the latch is, you'll see the thin outer skin of aluminum clad over the internal magnesium structure. Thanks. Cheers.

      Hey جمعه الكعبي,
      Ah yes, the manual transmission is a different thing all together. I'd follow whatever the owner manual says. It would definitely be an easier job.

      Hey Rjeepster,
      Mine only had minor glitches with the electronics. It's the paint bubbling off the body panels, due to the aluminum prematurely corroding that ticks me off!

      Even with all the things rated good about the Jeep in the video, it still is an expensive vehicle...even used. I gather all the vehicles in this class are expensive.

    I work on school buses for a living,on newer buses the entry doors are made of aluminum and always corrode,imo aluminum should not be used for major body panels,hoods,doors
