    They are saturating the market with 30 different models to see which one becomes the next A7iii. All of them are missing one feature that would make it perfect, again on purpose. I welcome the competition, but they raised the camera prices, so even at a discount they are still pricy. For example, blackmagic , they discounted their FF model $1,000 dollars, and its my believe that its cause it was overpriced to begin with.

      Honestly I am not mad at Blackmagic though because their cameras are still relatively cheap compared to the market and what it can do. But the sudden 1000$ discount was indeed weird.

    The one "feature" I wish Fuji specifically would quit price gating is weather resistance. I prefer a smaller camera like the X-S20 or X-T50, and don't need 2 card slots but I do need at least one WR body for when I want to shoot in the rain so I'm forced to have a body from the flagship line because I like to shoot in the rain and don't want to buy new lenses to switch to another brand since I've already built up my X-Mount lens collection.

      Totally agree. Especially when their kit lens comes with WR…

    I think Panasonic Lumix usually do a good thing, by just putting most features in most bodies. That said the new S9 is such a weird flawed thing and seems like an attempt to emulate Sony.
    Also waiting nearly 6 years for an upgrade to the S1H has been bizarre.

    I think I fall into this trap too. I bought 5 cameras on last two year,
    felt satisfied at first, but then felt a lot pressure because i didn't even use those gears

    Totally agree!
    I bought a X-E2 10years ago,
    and a bunch of lens from auto to full manual growing over the years.
    now, I bought a new Q3 and will keep this old Fuji as well. They serve different purposes.
    For a normal photo enthusiastic, I am happy I didn't follow all of the hype out there.
    Specifically, Fuji, a slightly different in price and spec, you got a new model to consider.
    X-T5 out run X-E2 in every aspect, but not the build quality.
    X-T5 feels like a toy in my hand. with small play here and there. Very disappointed!
    It is the reason I shifted totally different track to Q3.

    and how do you want them to survive without making more camera models, especially when you already have a complete lens ecosystem? remember these camera companies are public, the board of investors usually call the shots and all they want is quick cash....sad but true.

      By making more cameras that make sense imo. Just putting out cameras that do the same thing does not really help to have a clear product line and just confuse people most of the time

    To claim that too many cameras are released hardly makes sense. Each manufacturer releases only a handful of cameras, if any. Many cameras have not been updated in ages, such as the compact cameras of Sony and Canon

    • @quentin6233
      @quentin6233 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed. It literally makes no sense at all. I swear people only think of cameras that suit them and are so narrow-minded when there are many different people who want different things, sizes, features, colors...etc. when I was in college the different types of cameras each student had and the different way they used them was so broad.

    • @ThierryGibralta
      @ThierryGibralta  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I only thought about the cameras that suit me I would not think that there are too many cameras released. Most cameras nowadays do the same thing but slightly differently. Basically a minor repackaging. Even among the same manufacturer. Agree for Canon but Sony has been over releasing cameras...

    I believe that variety is ultimately beneficial to the customer, even though the prices are exaggerated
    In it, no one is forced to upgrade their current camera if they are not satisfied with the new features. I think the company is targeting new customers with what it has been doing recently. I am not an expert in marketing, but this seems clear to me.

      I disagree with that. The problem is that they kind of force you to do so when they discontinue your camera or don’t release anymore firmware for it. If you use it for work that’s a big risk.

    Problem is that the camera market is around 8 million unit a year with the following manufacturer Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic, OM Systems, Pentax, Leica, Ricoh, Hasselblad, Phase One, Blackmagic, RED, ARRI and Z Cam.
    If you analyze the products the manufacturer introduce you see that the specialize or focus on certain users. For instance Canon mirrorless cameras does not All I and Open Gate as the see this features as Cinema features, as such their mirrorless cameras are photo related. If you need Open Gate and All I buy the Cinema Line. At the other side Panasonic focus more on video features in their mirrorless. They sit at another side at the spectrum then Canon.
    Regarding the different models in Fuji, sits between Canon and Panasonic, as they cater to both still and video user hence they have 2 lines in the same pricepoint. The XT line does not have a flippy screen and is more geared to still where the XS and XH are geared to more video oriented user.
    Sony sits on the same position in the spectrum as Fuji so between Canon, which is more stills oriented, and Panasonic, which is more video oriented. Hence Sony need a ZV line for vlogging, FX line for more professional videographers and the A7 line for the still user. An example is A7IV which exhibit high rolling shutter which is bad for video, but the have the FX3 that has another sensor more suitable for video.
    The issue is that photographers hate flippy screen and fans where videographers hate microHDMI, recording limits and wants a flippy screen.

    I have tried a few brands. Personally, I feel that Lumix is the least cynical brand who give you pretty much everything they can or is technically feasible. Gatekeeping is not a problem in that case. Most cameras these days are very good general purpose all rounders and overengineered for the draw audience.

      Not sure if that is still the case after the S9.
