That scene of Arthur talking shit to micah and Dutch hit me so hard. Arthur as a character felt like a character I could really relate to and him dieing hurt like losing a family member
I like how Arthur told everyone that he would like to die facing towards the west and watching sunset, instead he died facing towards the east and watching sun rise. This symbolises who Arthur was and what he has become now, totally opposite.

Then the agents come and rip it away, and John has to realize that he can't run from his mistakes and that his family won't be safe unless he's gone, so he accepts his fate and walks out the barn
This ending, this is the ending that gets me more than rdr 1. It hits you thrice in the feels 1. You loose your horse 2. Dutch is a completely lost cause 3. Arthur dies because Micah beat the last of the life out of him Between these three things, the people you've seen die, the time you spent customising Arthur, just for him to be killed by a snake.....it hurts everytime
In my opinion if your cried during this moment, you truly experienced this game to its fullest, you laughed with the gang, you fought with them, all to watch it unravel. This was one of the most beautifully written moments ever
To people who think Arthur lost, he didn't. Arthur won. He fought Micah as a distraction. He knew as long as John got out, that's all it would take to win. The ending was sad, but it wasn't a "Bad ending". It was hopeful, perfectly filling in the pieces for RDR1.

I love how the High Honor version is basically saying “You had a chance to redeem yourself. And you took the opportunity to make yourself a better man. Enjoy heaven, you earned it.” While the Low Honor version is saying “You had a chance to redeem yourself. To become a better man. You thought you were too good for that life. You thought you could outlive it. You don’t deserve to rest. Welcome to hell.”
Two things I noticed: -The high honor version lasts longer than the low honor version -The high honor version has another singer in there singing at a higher octave, but the low honor version either doesn't have that singer, or that singer is singing at a lower octave.
High Honor: Singing alongside the people who loved and respected you, and being remembered despite the robbing and killing that transpired in the passing of time. Low Honor: Singing alone, and watching as the people you rode with proceed onwards with their lives, and seek to forget the past; including you, and the heinous acts you committed.
It‘s details like this that make RDR2 the game of the generation. Everything was crafted masterfully. Thank you Rockstar, although your money milking with GTA V is truly annoying. It‘s like Dutch took over the company and keeps yelling „wE nEeD oNe mOrE sCoRe!“

I keep playing as John, doing my farm chores, exploring every corner of the map, finishing all of the challenges, etc. As long as John lives and Abigail and Jack are happy, Arthur's death wasn't in vain. Somehow I feel the responsibility to carry on that legacy. What a game!
*Arthur:* "Hosea?" *Hosea:* "Nice to see you again my boy." *Arthur:* "I haven't been a good man Hosea, since I saw you last." *Hosea:* "No, you haven't been a good man Arthur...you were the best."
It’s kinda canon. Arthur saw Hosea as more of a father figure than Dutch. And besides, Hosea would’ve obviously never supported Dutch’s actions throughout Chapters 5 and 6. The only reason he kept doing these horrific things was because Micah supported him no matter what he did.
Erik Allen if Hosea had survived the Saint Denis Disaster and lived a normal life, Dutch would have mastered Hosea’s ways and eventually kick or kill Micah from the gang.
He realized it far too late after everyone who mattered was dead, gone straight, or hated him. Killing Micah was a combination of that realization either to avenge the gang or for his own revenge. Had the Blackwater money, but nobody to share it with. Dutch shooting Micah did repair some damage in John’s eyes, going from he was a devil in plain view to a sad idealist in his perception.
Like most "leaders" he wanted everyone to be as loyal to him as he was to himself. He was too narcissistic to even consider being loyal to anyone but himself.
i really like the honour system in this game, it defines Arthurs character by how YOU play him, and it shows you who you really are, if YOU are honourable or dishonourable… and i love that

Strauss was so incredibly expendable that when you kick him out of the gang and tell him to never come back nobody actually disagrees with you. Arthur fucked up and he wasn't a good person until the end when he did everything he could to right his wrongs but he still had a hand in the murder of more than a handful of innocent people and ruined the lives of many since bank money for example wasn't federally insured back then. He got his redemption but there's no good ending for someone that hurt so many people and surrounded themselves by people that refused to change for the better.

high honor sounds like a choir of angels welcoming you to heaven while low honor sounds like your guardian angel singing somberly for you, failing in his mission
GTA V is a good game. I had fun with it, beat it twice, totaled about 160 hours. I remember some of the activities and a couple quests. The protagonists were pretty great. I have fond memories of playing it. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece. I had so much fun playing it, but it also genuinely made me think, it made me laugh and it made me cry. It taught me important lessons and it broke my heart. I beat RDR2 three times, and just started my fourth after 1.5 years off. I have almost 1000 hours logged (story mode only.) RDR2 changed the way I think of some things. It affected who I am as a person in some pretty fundamental ways. So much of this game and its characters and how they made me feel and what they made me think is indelibly etched into my mind in ways that are no less real than the memories I have of high school. After my first playthrough I was left emotionally shaken for months. Sadness, regret, joy, disbelief, pride, so many emotions. Even though I know what's coming, it still breaks me a little every time, and it always will. That's a good thing. Rockstar likes to think GTA V is their crowning achievement because they're most concerned with money. However, the true fact of the matter is that RDR2 is undeniably their magnum opus, whether they like it or not. Few games have had half the emotional impact on me that this game provided. RDR2 is on the same level as The Last of Us in that regard. It breaks my heart that Rockstar has abandoned this game. It feels like the most tragic kind of oversight. This game will always be special to its core fan base, and I just have one thing to say to Rockstar about it: "Be loyal to what matters." -Arthur Morgan.
I bought this game a few years ago, I slowly played the campaign, a little bit before the ending, my dad passed I was really sad, and some how barely had enough for the high honor ending, and I couldn't help but think of my dad, because he used to be a cowboy, growing up we go to the horse corral, I would wear his roping buckles to school thinking I was so cool, I just lost it when this song started playing. I miss that man, I miss my friend

"I did." Those were the last words I heard Arthur Morgan say in my game. And it actually was the best way I think to go. Because those words mean so much. Because he did. He worked hard for the gang, and when Dutch gave in and became who he really was, he worked hard to save those he cared about and even saved his best friend John, knowing that possible riches were near him, and helping John escape from Micah and Dutch mere minutes before his death. And that really just hits home to me. So yes Arthur, you did. And I am so happy I got to see you do all that you did
He says that because Dutch tells him to have faith throughout the game. The entire time, Dutch thought Arthur didn’t believe in him. But he did. He just slowly started seeing the truth in Chapter 6. Dutch is an idiot.

I can’t actually describe how this song makes me feel. Rockstar, this is a masterpiece of a game. The story telling, the landscape, the soundtrack, the true story of a real hero. My only sadness is that it’s over.

high honour ending is superior because SPOILER ALERT: charles talks about arthur saying he was a good man and he helped people in need in epilogue part 1 and if you have low honour you see a wolf which is just gritty and bad compared to the calm deer/doe and charles talks about arthur saying he wasnt a good man but he did what he had to do and his grave text also changes based on the ending
I completed the game just about an hour ago. It was amazing. I took care of Arthur and because I went into the game blind with out knowing anything... A lot of deaths really hit me ;-; I also had the same horse from the begging but when I heard that song I knew.. it was the end and I had full honor.
Came to listen to this, been going through some stuff. I remember getting this game at a midnight release the day it came out my dad went with me. Played it all night, was during the winter so my dad wasn't working as much as he did of the summer. He never cared for video games much, other than getting them for me. I was in college at the time so i stayed at home when I wasn't on campus, he was a huge fan of westerns and when he saw me playing the opening valentine sections he got hooked. I restarted for him and we played through that whole game during the winter. I'd play and he'd comment and watch, he loved that it was basically an interactable western movie. That became our thing, we played through the entire game every winter. My dad passed away from brain cancer this year and I haven't had the heart to even look at the game, but I heard this song the other day and it brought back all the happy memories. Im gonna be replaying this masterpiece every winter from now on.

"I just don't want any more folks to die, Dutch." -Hosea Matthews This one stuck for me ever since Chapter 1 and hearing it again in Chapter 6, after Hosea himself had died, was the most memerable moment of the entire game, really reminding the player of how wrong everything went and how it was foreshadowed from the start, right before it all came crashing down for good.

I was so hyped to finally play RDR2 after avoiding all the trailers and reviews, I wanted to go in knowing nothing. Imagine my surprise when the prologue starts and I see Dutch and the rest of the gang. "It's a prequel! Oh...it's a prequel" that kind of disappointed me a little because no matter what happens certain characters will need to be in a certain place for RDR1 to happen. Despite knowing the eventual outcome I played what has to be one of my favorite video game experiences bar none. In the end despite my expectations to the contrary, it turns out I had fun.
I had the same experience except I never even played rdr1. All I knew was that John Marston was the protagonist in that game and I didn't know his fate so I didn't know rdr2 was actually a prequel.....and I'm glad because not knowing the events of rdr1 made me enjoy rdr2 so much more
I will never ever regret taking a literal month on chapter 3-4 with other completing a majority of challenges cause I wanted to enjoy every moment in the game. So, so glad I did cause when I got to chapter 5 I was starting sniff onions. Goddamn beautiful creation, can’t call it a game. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness." "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." "Blessed are those who seek redemption, for redemption is the hardest trial a man can face."
This is what I like about a game. Instead of being evil and reckless, those who choose to do the good in every situation instead of consistent robbery and trickery for money. Even at the end of the main campaign you start out with little money. Basically teaching you that instead of being a ruthless money giant, be good, and you will get rewarded with true Red Dead Redemption...
The vocals in this version have a wider range, and puts more emphasis on the fiddle/violin/stringed instrument than the low honor version, which conversely makes use of an organ that this doesn't have. Also, and I'm not sure if this is due to the volume you recorded at, but the bass in the low honor recording sounds stronger. This sounds more choral, overall.
I'm currently in ch 4 of my second playthrough. The first time, my honor never went below half, so I wanted to play a bad honor version. Despite trying, I never got to max dishonor, and now I'm working on building it back up anyway. Arthur shouldn't have bad honor, it just isn't right. ...and yeah, I'm not looking forward to the end, I'm trying to accomplish EVERYTHING I can before that... even finding all of the special hats and completing the entire compendium.
This scene alone with this music and John saying "I guess we're about done my friend." Made having had to go through chasing cougars, woodpeckers, robins, the gambler challenges and the exotics 100% worth it.
After everything that's happened, all the highs and lows the game went through, with content that will take days to fully complete, all the experiences that Arthur went through, with us in tow, he wasn't just another throw away character, he felt like a real human being, and, he was our friend
I played this level on my birthday a couple years ago, got my first truck and was having a nice party later and everything, then when I played this I was emotional for the rest of the day, didn’t feel like hangin with anyone. I really want this song played at funeral.

Even though Arthur was a bad man in the beginning we the player gave him the chance to turn it all around and be the best man and the fact that we lost all our friends throughout the game (spoiler alert I WARNED YOU) We lost Lenny, Hosea, Kieran and Sean. Was rewarding cause we saw most of them in the upper land but if we wanted to be the bad person then we could’ve kept on the bad ending and just ended up not being rewarded

In the low honer version it gives you an unsteady feeling and it doesn't seem like you cant hear Hosea in the low honor version but in the high Version if you listen closely it sounds like Hosea is singing and also during the saint denis heist if you look at the suits they symbolize like what the honor is and Hosea was high honor and another detail is May I unshaken low sounds like Lenny sings it and if you're wondering how you get this is it the music that plays if you have high or low honor going back for the money and you see in the saint denis bank robbery he was wearing a red suit indicating he had low honer and so it really fits both characters

Sorry im just now getting to this, in my gameplay im sad to inform you but I think gavins friend, the guy who was always yelling gavin, yes a Pinkerton spy. My reasoning for this, is that he appeared everywhere you wen. One time, i took a step out of camp and there he was. So in short, maybe he did or didnt fond gavin, but i think gavin doesnt exist.
My favourite line from Arthur; "I'm afraid" I grew such a bond with this protagonist unlike any other game that when he said that, I teared and felt it too.

This ending, this is the ending that gets me more than rdr 1. It hits you thrice in the feels
1. You loose your horse
2. Dutch is a completely lost cause
3. Arthur dies because Micah beat the last of the life out of him
Between these three things, the people you've seen die, the time you spent customising Arthur, just for him to be killed by a snake.....it hurts everytime
if arthur didn't have TB he would've beat the life out of micah and basically destroy him

To people who think Arthur lost, he didn't. Arthur won. He fought Micah as a distraction. He knew as long as John got out, that's all it would take to win. The ending was sad, but it wasn't a "Bad ending". It was hopeful, perfectly filling in the pieces for RDR1.

Two things I noticed:
-The high honor version lasts longer than the low honor version
-The high honor version has another singer in there singing at a higher octave, but the low honor version either doesn't have that singer, or that singer is singing at a lower octave.

I keep playing as John, doing my farm chores, exploring every corner of the map, finishing all of the challenges, etc. As long as John lives and Abigail and Jack are happy, Arthur's death wasn't in vain. Somehow I feel the responsibility to carry on that legacy. What a game!

Wish it is canon, tho. In the journal, Arthur saw Hosea as his father more than Dutch. Same for John, in a way.
It’s kinda canon. Arthur saw Hosea as more of a father figure than Dutch. And besides, Hosea would’ve obviously never supported Dutch’s actions throughout Chapters 5 and 6. The only reason he kept doing these horrific things was because Micah supported him no matter what he did.
Erik Allen if Hosea had survived the Saint Denis Disaster and lived a normal life, Dutch would have mastered Hosea’s ways and eventually kick or kill Micah from the gang.

Loyalty meant everything to Dutch. But when loyalty mattered the most, he threw it away.
Yup. Demanded loyalty, but refused/was incapable of giving it in return. A parasite.
He realized it far too late after everyone who mattered was dead, gone straight, or hated him. Killing Micah was a combination of that realization either to avenge the gang or for his own revenge. Had the Blackwater money, but nobody to share it with. Dutch shooting Micah did repair some damage in John’s eyes, going from he was a devil in plain view to a sad idealist in his perception.

Like most "leaders" he wanted everyone to be as loyal to him as he was to himself. He was too narcissistic to even consider being loyal to anyone but himself.
i really like the honour system in this game, it defines Arthurs character by how YOU play him, and it shows you who you really are, if YOU are honourable or dishonourable… and i love that

He definitely made that choice. Nobody forced Arthur to do it. Strauss was so incredibly expendable that when you kick him out of the gang and tell him to never come back nobody actually disagrees with you.
Arthur fucked up and he wasn't a good person until the end when he did everything he could to right his wrongs but he still had a hand in the murder of more than a handful of innocent people and ruined the lives of many since bank money for example wasn't federally insured back then.
He got his redemption but there's no good ending for someone that hurt so many people and surrounded themselves by people that refused to change for the better.

GTA V is a good game. I had fun with it, beat it twice, totaled about 160 hours. I remember some of the activities and a couple quests. The protagonists were pretty great. I have fond memories of playing it.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece. I had so much fun playing it, but it also genuinely made me think, it made me laugh and it made me cry. It taught me important lessons and it broke my heart. I beat RDR2 three times, and just started my fourth after 1.5 years off. I have almost 1000 hours logged (story mode only.) RDR2 changed the way I think of some things. It affected who I am as a person in some pretty fundamental ways. So much of this game and its characters and how they made me feel and what they made me think is indelibly etched into my mind in ways that are no less real than the memories I have of high school. After my first playthrough I was left emotionally shaken for months. Sadness, regret, joy, disbelief, pride, so many emotions. Even though I know what's coming, it still breaks me a little every time, and it always will. That's a good thing.
Rockstar likes to think GTA V is their crowning achievement because they're most concerned with money. However, the true fact of the matter is that RDR2 is undeniably their magnum opus, whether they like it or not. Few games have had half the emotional impact on me that this game provided. RDR2 is on the same level as The Last of Us in that regard.
It breaks my heart that Rockstar has abandoned this game. It feels like the most tragic kind of oversight. This game will always be special to its core fan base, and I just have one thing to say to Rockstar about it:
"Be loyal to what matters."

I bought this game a few years ago, I slowly played the campaign, a little bit before the ending, my dad passed I was really sad, and some how barely had enough for the high honor ending, and I couldn't help but think of my dad, because he used to be a cowboy, growing up we go to the horse corral, I would wear his roping buckles to school thinking I was so cool, I just lost it when this song started playing.

He worked hard for the gang, and when Dutch gave in and became who he really was, he worked hard to save those he cared about and even saved his best friend John, knowing that possible riches were near him, and helping John escape from Micah and Dutch mere minutes before his death. And that really just hits home to me. So yes Arthur, you did. And I am so happy I got to see you do all that you did
He says that because Dutch tells him to have faith throughout the game. The entire time, Dutch thought Arthur didn’t believe in him. But he did. He just slowly started seeing the truth in Chapter 6. Dutch is an idiot.

Every time i hear this beautiful song, i would constantly get in tears and rethink of all the things i've done as arthur.

I completed the game just about an hour ago. It was amazing. I took care of Arthur and because I went into the game blind with out knowing anything... A lot of deaths really hit me ;-;
I also had the same horse from the begging but when I heard that song I knew.. it was the end and I had full honor.
Came to listen to this, been going through some stuff. I remember getting this game at a midnight release the day it came out my dad went with me. Played it all night, was during the winter so my dad wasn't working as much as he did of the summer. He never cared for video games much, other than getting them for me. I was in college at the time so i stayed at home when I wasn't on campus, he was a huge fan of westerns and when he saw me playing the opening valentine sections he got hooked. I restarted for him and we played through that whole game during the winter. I'd play and he'd comment and watch, he loved that it was basically an interactable western movie. That became our thing, we played through the entire game every winter. My dad passed away from brain cancer this year and I haven't had the heart to even look at the game, but I heard this song the other day and it brought back all the happy memories. Im gonna be replaying this masterpiece every winter from now on.

This one stuck for me ever since Chapter 1 and hearing it again in Chapter 6, after Hosea himself had died, was the most memerable moment of the entire game, really reminding the player of how wrong everything went and how it was foreshadowed from the start, right before it all came crashing down for good.

I was so hyped to finally play RDR2 after avoiding all the trailers and reviews, I wanted to go in knowing nothing. Imagine my surprise when the prologue starts and I see Dutch and the rest of the gang. "It's a prequel! Oh...it's a prequel" that kind of disappointed me a little because no matter what happens certain characters will need to be in a certain place for RDR1 to happen. Despite knowing the eventual outcome I played what has to be one of my favorite video game experiences bar none. In the end despite my expectations to the contrary, it turns out I had fun.
I had the same experience except I never even played rdr1. All I knew was that John Marston was the protagonist in that game and I didn't know his fate so I didn't know rdr2 was actually a prequel.....and I'm glad because not knowing the events of rdr1 made me enjoy rdr2 so much more

I will never ever regret taking a literal month on chapter 3-4 with other completing a majority of challenges cause I wanted to enjoy every moment in the game. So, so glad I did cause when I got to chapter 5 I was starting sniff onions. Goddamn beautiful creation, can’t call it a game. Absolute work of art, I don’t think we’ll get anything like this ever again boys and girls…. And I’m kinda okay with that 😌

Losing Arthur was like losing myself. I literally felt how I would if I died.

Arthur: "Why, thank you, but I wasn't a good man, I don't know why I'm here"
Hosea: "You helped people that needed helping, fed them when they needed feeding, and shot them when they needed shooting, there's no better a man than that"
Arthur: "I- I suppose I tried to change when we left Blackwater, I truly did, maybe despite my best efforts, I did"
Sean and Kieran approach Arthur
Arthur: "Sean you bastard! I could've sworn we'd be burning in hell together after all we did"
Sean: "Oh trust me Arthur, if i had to listen to you blabber for eternity I wouldn't need the burning, that'd be torture enough"
Arthur: "Is Colm here? What about Susan?"
Hosea: "Colm certainly isnt here, and Susan is resting, but there are others you should know"
The crowd parts for Arthur to see his wife and kid.

This is what I like about a game. Instead of being evil and reckless, those who choose to do the good in every situation instead of consistent robbery and trickery for money. Even at the end of the main campaign you start out with little money. Basically teaching you that instead of being a ruthless money giant, be good, and you will get rewarded with true Red Dead Redemption...
What an absolutely phenomenal game. I tip my cowboy hat humbly to the entire team and cast of Red Dead Redemption 2.
The vocals in this version have a wider range, and puts more emphasis on the fiddle/violin/stringed instrument than the low honor version, which conversely makes use of an organ that this doesn't have. Also, and I'm not sure if this is due to the volume you recorded at, but the bass in the low honor recording sounds stronger.
This sounds more choral, overall.

Cynical Aspie The low honor version has more bass and has the lower voices more pronounced than in the high honor, so it sounds somber and sad.

This was the only game i could not do a second playthrough to, i couldnt bare to see Arthur pass away twice
I'm currently in ch 4 of my second playthrough. The first time, my honor never went below half, so I wanted to play a bad honor version. Despite trying, I never got to max dishonor, and now I'm working on building it back up anyway. Arthur shouldn't have bad honor, it just isn't right. ...and yeah, I'm not looking forward to the end, I'm trying to accomplish EVERYTHING I can before that... even finding all of the special hats and completing the entire compendium.
This scene alone with this music and John saying "I guess we're about done my friend." Made having had to go through chasing cougars, woodpeckers, robins, the gambler challenges and the exotics 100% worth it.
The Honer is high but our moods are low
After everything that's happened, all the highs and lows the game went through, with content that will take days to fully complete, all the experiences that Arthur went through, with us in tow, he wasn't just another throw away character, he felt like a real human being, and, he was our friend
I truly love how the game has included the fact that in the end, there is a pitch difference depending on honor levels.
The way he fights to the end then crawls to the rock then this song starts gets me every time, Rockstar truly created a masterpiece with this game
I’ve beaten “red dead 2” 11 times and every time I think of this song and Arthur I go back and play it again, it’s that good of a game.

I played this level on my birthday a couple years ago, got my first truck and was having a nice party later and everything, then when I played this I was emotional for the rest of the day, didn’t feel like hangin with anyone. I really want this song played at funeral.

man just hearing this soundtrack is enough to make me cry. the first playthrough hit me like a train. i wanted to play as john after i finished rdr1, but now in rdr2 i finally get to play as john.. at the cost of everything.

Even though Arthur was a bad man in the beginning we the player gave him the chance to turn it all around and be the best man and the fact that we lost all our friends throughout the game (spoiler alert I WARNED YOU)
We lost Lenny, Hosea, Kieran and Sean. Was rewarding cause we saw most of them in the upper land but if we wanted to be the bad person then we could’ve kept on the bad ending and just ended up not being rewarded

I just finished playing as Arthur a little while ago and now I just feel dead inside.
By far the best protagonist I've played as.
I just got rid of a actual PTSD situation that I've been running from and.. God this song has so much weight at the moment. God bless anyone that's in pain or suffering.. I'm finally free from it all thank the lord I'm free from it all

This song always gets me in tears
In the low honer version it gives you an unsteady feeling and it doesn't seem like you cant hear Hosea in the low honor version but in the high Version if you listen closely it sounds like Hosea is singing and also during the saint denis heist if you look at the suits they symbolize like what the honor is and Hosea was high honor and another detail is May I unshaken low sounds like Lenny sings it and if you're wondering how you get this is it the music that plays if you have high or low honor going back for the money and you see in the saint denis bank robbery he was wearing a red suit indicating he had low honer and so it really fits both characters

Sorry im just now getting to this, in my gameplay im sad to inform you but I think gavins friend, the guy who was always yelling gavin, yes a Pinkerton spy. My reasoning for this, is that he appeared everywhere you wen. One time, i took a step out of camp and there he was. So in short, maybe he did or didnt fond gavin, but i think gavin doesnt exist.
