  • Yeah, that big glass "sunsphere" is cool...but there are also 18 miles of trails and greenways that crisscross Knox-Vegas! And we're going to visit most of them in this episode of Joyful Trails. K-Town has a lot going on for cyclists - bridges, art, railroad history, World's Fair Park, the University of Tennessee campus, great views of the Tennessee River, and much more. Join me for a ride around Knoxville!
    I'm Scott. I explore, review and rate bike trails on this channel...and hopefully find a little joy in the journey. Thanks for watching!

    You did a beautiful job of artistically capturing the beauty of this trail and history of Knoxville. Makes me want to ride there!

      Thanks! It really is a nice place to visit. And there are several trails in the immediate Knoxville area as well as surrounding the town, on the outskirts.

    Learned a lot about Knoxville, Tennessee in this video! Been there once but not downtown or on the trails. Even learned the real lyrics to Rocky top…. except for the last word of the song. How dare you just walk out the door and leave us wondering LOL. Still watching all your videos in Kingsport, TN. 👍

    Great video. Back in May of 2019, I was on a road trip to Texas and rode trails on the way. Sadly I was behind schedule and skipped Knoxville, what a fool I was.

    Nice video. I think all that stuff is new since I lived in Knoxville in 1990. There's another greenway that runs 2 miles west of downtown starting at Tyson Park that I used to use every day.
    PS. I live near Clemson too. At least we both have orange, lol. But I like Alabama whenever they're not playing my Vols. 🙂

      I had never heard the words until now. What a weird song! And the second verse is all about corn whiskey and moonshine. And that’s their football team’s fight song! You can’t make this stuff up. 😂

    After watching your (Murvul), Maryville Greenway trail video, I decided to check out the Knoxville one. Again, great job! You know, with "Open Carry" here, you were talking a chance riding around Knoxville with an Alabama hoody on, Ha! Keep 'em coming.

    Good one. I was at that world’s fair back then. I was raised in Bristol Tennessee and been to many games at Neyland and matter of fact my first game my dad took me to see them play Alabama and there was wooden bleachers in the end zone. Yep I am that old 😂. You are 30 minutes from Clemson, I am 2 miles from Death Valley 😏. You play some great music with your vlogs. Always well done and a great sense f humor makes them always enjoyable. We have only done Swamp Rabbit and Doodle. If you had one trail that is as good as Swamp Rabbit what would you suggest. Thanks again.

    • @joyfultrails
      @joyfultrails  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the encouragement. I’ve never actually been to a game at Neyland. My son is wanting us to go see them play Alabama there one year. College football games have gotten so expensive. You have to pick and choose your spots carefully. At least I do! A good trail to me that is similar to the swamp rabbit trail would be the thermal belt rail trail in Forest City North Carolina and also the Little Sugar Creek Greenway in downtown Charlotte. Of course, Virginia Creeper is in a league of its own but it’s an unpaved nature trail.

    Hey Scott! Another great video and thanks for featuring our city. Enjoy your quirky sense of humor, and we won't hold it against you for being a Bama fan as long as you don't mention Lane Kiffin. Come on back sometime and we can sing Rocky Top as a duo.

    Looks like an interesting place for certain.
    So I have a couple of questions, when you travel, how do you keep your bike safe when in a restaurant or in the hotel and secondly, what kind of bike do you enjoy riding?

    • @joyfultrails
      @joyfultrails  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      These look like good questions for the responding to comments segment on a future video… 😬 as for restaurants, I just try to sit where I can keep an eye on the car. Sometimes, if you back your car into a parking place, you can sort of pin the bike up against a wall. And sometimes I have actually used my combination lock to link the bike up to the bike carrier. That way if somebody tried to steal it, it would really be a hassle and they would probably give up and move on. As for hotels… I’ve started calling ahead now and getting a verbal commitment from them that it’s OK for me to keep the bike in my room. I would never consider leaving it outside overnight. It’s a Townie men’s 7-D step-over. And I love it!

    And another absolutely gorgeous video. You have an amazing eye for composing your shots. What settings are you running on your X3?

    • @joyfultrails
      @joyfultrails  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! I’m gonna be honest with you… I’m not a tech head. I’m more about the creative aspect of shot composition than I am about specs and technical settings. So when I got that camera, I just watched TH-cam videos and set it up like whatever guys were recommending on TH-cam … but mostly I just run it in auto. Because I only use it in daylight and usually in good weather so I don’t have to worry about changing it for low light situations. I think I shoot in 5.7 K/30 frames per second.

    Regarding the memories of eating out as a child has everything to do with your loss of sensitivity of your taste buds. I recall the same foods that used to be so tasty, now just don't have the same impact as before.

      @@joyfultrails I recall vividly the first time I ate raw onions inside a BK burger. It was such a strong taste that I hated it. I was about 11. Later on as an adult I devoured Whoppers with no problem and actually enjoyed the taste.Also you find yourself adding more seasonings cause foods taste more bland as you age.

      Shoney's got its start in good old Charleston, WVa just like me. I was born there in 1961. Shoney's started in 1947. I remember eating there with my family too. The burgers had a special sauce in those days. Today our Shoney's is open late into the night to attract after hours customers. People still enjoy the breakfast buffet. I haven't had a hot fudge cake in years. I hope yours was good.
