Thanks Jason. This little gem saved me about $350 net and I learned something in the process. Thanks as well to your son the cameraman for his fine, fine job as well.
The passenger side window on my 2004 Odyssey failed. This video was an excellent resource to help me replace the actuator and motor assembly. Some key tips in the comments section that helped; tape the window (duct tape) in the fully closed position, and don't remove the speaker. You may need to remove the 2 bolts connecting the window to the actuator arm in order to tape the window closed. While you do not need to remove the speaker, there are 3 screws under the speaker cover that you DO need to remove in order to take the panel off. Once you get the panel off you are left holding the panel in one hand and trying to disconnect the speaker power connector with the other. It wouldn't hurt to have a 2nd set of hands at that point or something to balance the panel on to avoid letting the weight of the panel fall on the rather thin speaker wires. I found the hardest aspect of the job was getting the panel back on! Fitting it in at the top while accommodating the door lock at the same time was tricky, but patience prevailed. Excellent instructional video and THANK YOU.
A big THANK YOU for taking the time to post this video! Great step-by-step instructions. Just had my passenger side window on my 2002 Odyssey fall into the door and had to replace the regulator/motor unit - so, without fail, I went to my trusted source for auto mechanics - youtube - and found your video. Saved me money, made my day. Thanks so much. I really appreciate it!
Thanks a ton for posting this video! I have an '04 and I followed this video for the drivers side window and it was easy to follow, even for me. This happened 2 years ago to the passenger side window. I took it to the dealer and it cost me $300. I bought the new part for $50, installed it myself (with help from this video) and saved $250!! Thanks again.
Jason - Thanks a ton for this video. Paid $350+ in December to have driver's door done. Just did passenger door with your video and $73 part from Advance Auto parts. Only thing I did differently was leave window in and taped it fully closed. Thanks again!!
Thanks for posting this detailed video. You saved me $250! It took me about 2 hours. I was also able to leave the window in and tape it up using painters tape while I installed the new assembly. I was not as lucky as you, my window was stuck in the full down position. By removing the 4 regulator bolts, I was able to get enough room to remove the 2 window bolts and push the glass up. Thanks again!
Jason I doubt you will see this but little over 6 years after you posted this video it is still at work. Passager window is broken, poket book is short, so this video just saved me $80.00 .....thx for yours & the camera ladys efforts they are truly appreciated....👍
Jason Shrout It sure did....two things I had to do different were...the black sticky, whatever, that held the plastic sheet on, work too well. So I replaced it with a pease cut from a bag you would put over a pallet, then shrink it with a propane torch ever heavier duty....it was handy..:) 3M two sided tape worked very well to hold it on. The other was, I had to remove that corner peace, small black triangle. It's just held on with two clips that are brittle so it should be removed after the door panel, so you can pry it straight out, side to side. I broke the bottom clip but the door panel & top clip hold it pretty tight....really thank you again......👍 Have a happy forth...!!!!!
I did the replacement. The Plastic tabs of plate moving with glass broke & the strip was free so the glass stays down. Replaced the'Regulator'.Dorman $50. Repaired the old one , works fine , it probably broke as it was dry, no grease. Good job SGT, keep posting.
Just wanted to give you a big Mahalo (Hawaiian for Thank you) for posting this video. You saved me $400+ dollars. Instructions were easy to follow. You're doing a great public service for the do-it-yourselfers!
Thanks. This was very very helpful. I paid $39 for the regulator and spent about one hour installing. Saved me a little over $500. Very easy to follow. thanks again.
Thank you so much, man. I'm going to help out a foreign student to fix their widow thing. They don't have any money, so I doing my part to help them out and you certainly did your part to help them out. Thank yo and may God bless you richly.
This video was great! It took me a few views but I just wanted to post my gratitude! Without guys like you posting super knowledge, we wouldn't have a chance!
Thanks for the video. My wife said the window went bang and fell down today. I was determined to avoid taking it to the dealer and spending $500... Your video convinced me I could take the door apart without breaking all the clips and plastic. After a quick parts run I had it fixed in a few hours and a couple of beers. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this awesome video. Wife called my Friday, said she came out of work and the window was down in door. Bought the part for $70, used your video and changed it out in less than an hour with NO issues. I'm not a car guy by any means but this was a pretty easy fix that saved me over $200
Thank you Jason. You saved me a few hundred bucks! I did the driver's side & my window was stuck in the UP position. This made it more difficult to remove the window bolts, but I was able to remove the left one, then pivot the metal regulator "arm", which lowered the window enough for me to see the other bolt. I then taped the window up rather than remove it. I also left the white barrier attached along the bottom of the door, folding it under the door and out of the way. Cost: $50 from Amazon.
So, mine lasted 11 years. The motor fell apart somehow one day. I paid $44 for the part online and did the work in 1 hr 45 minutes (I struggled a bit with getting the window back in). Saved me $400. Thanks for the help!
Thank you, thank you , and thank god for people like yourself. Had my passenger window fall into door and went into a panic because we can't afford right now the 3-400 dollar quotes we were getting to fix it at a shop. 70 bucks for the window regulator and done in 2 hours with the help of your video. Again, thank you much!
Thank you for the time and effort to put this video together. I was able to complete the repair by myself and save much needed cash for Christmas shopping. I would have never been confident enough to do it on my own otherwise.
Laughed at the last comment because I watched it on my phone and it looked just fine. Jason, appreciate the time you took to do this video. Saved me several hundred dollars from the dealership today!
Thank you very much! Please add my name to the list of those whom this video helped tremendously! This happened to us on a weekend and thankfully Autozone carried the part, so I was able to fix it on my wife's van the same day.
This video worked perfectly for my 2004 Honda Odyssey. Thanks for the video! I finished mine in 40 minutes. The dealership wanted to charge me $104 just to "diagnose" the problem. Who knows how much it would have been after parts and labor. Got my part at a local auto parts store for $70. Awesome!
Thank you thank you thank you! My daughters 2001 Odyssey passenger window collapsed this morning and my husband left for a business trip. I watched the video, tracked down the part and the window is working. Unfortunately it didn't take me 24 minutes like yours did but $57 in parts and a few hours of my time....done! Anne for California :)
Great help. For those embarking on this little project pay attention to which connectors you are re-connecting your switches to. I made the mistake of connecting the blue power connector to my power window switch and I short circuited the sucker. Just ordered a replacement from Ebay Motors for $19. At least it short circuited in the closed position.
Thanks for your video! B/c of this I was able to do the same on the driver's side and save myself about $300. It was some hard work though, putting the panel back on was quite a struggle, esp when I was working from 8pm to 11pm in the dark with a headlamp! Thanks again!
Excellent Video Sgtjasonshrout. Saved me at least 80 bucks!! Thank you for such a detailed video. Took me start to finish about an hour with no experience whatsoever. God Bless!
Thanks for this helped refresh my memory on the steps -- had replaced driver side 2 years ago, New part on Amazon = $52. Do not need to take glass completely out -- can raise it and tape to door frame while changing regulator. thanx again.
nice work. took me about 2 hrs including driving to get the part. and i didn't need to take the speaker out or remove the window... just raised it and taped it up. thanks
Thanks for the well instructed video. I had gotten stuck at the part where you remove the window. Now I can finish the job. I also ordered the regulator from Amazon for $50. I wasn't sure what the problem with the window was, but thanks for clearing all that up for me. Great video.
Thanks alot Sgt Jason (and your helper) for putting this video together; it was a great help in doing this repair in a quick and efficient way. I appreciate it a lot!
Thank You for posting this on-line. It was a big help for me to change mine over. Of course it didn't take 25 minutes, more like 2 hours.......but that my fault. Thank You again for a great helpful video.
Excellent video. Saved my couple hundred dollars. Thanks for all your hard work in filming this. I was able to do similar work on my driver side 2004 Odyssey.
Good instructional video to get the job done. It's called a window regulator because it regulates the height of the window to your liking or regulate it to the open or closed position.
Thanks Jason. You just saved me some money. It was like connecting the dots. I greatly appreciate the post and kudos to the cinematographer. Keep'em coming. I wasn't sure whether or not to pay extra for the dealer part. I ended up doing that but I'd be interested in people's opinions about Honda parts versus knockoffs. Baton Rouge, LA
Nice video. Thanks. I hate trying to figure out where all the tabs and such are and usually end up breaking one. :( Anyhow, here's a little tip that I used while working on my Impala. You don't have to take the window all the way out. Put a few (3 or more) long pieces of painters tape over the top of the door. Leave it hang loose. Disconnect the window and push it straight up. Press the tape against it and the window will stay up.
first time I did it, Ray. Took me about 3 hours... would have been less than half that time, but I kept referring back to the video during the removal and installation. Plus, my new part had a shorter cord, so I kept removing it to try to get everything connected properly.
Hi, I just come here to find exactly this kind of video I had this problem with my oddyssey I ask today morning how much I have to pay for this work and they say 250.00 aprox. but after watch this video I did it myself and thank you for help me to save 150.00 thank you very much for share this amazing video is too clear explained.god bless you.
thanks for the video it helped me not mess anything up. I did find out a couple things you can tape the window in the up position and dont have to remove it, Also you dont have to remove the speaker just unplug it after you pull the door cover off,I also did not remove the plastic sheet from around the speakerI bunched it together and pushed inside the speaker hole. Any way many thanks for posting 2 thumbs up!!
ThankX Great Video, worked on an 04, the one problem was I could not remove the glass, window was stuck in the door. Hard getting the screws out. It went in easy and works great.
Great helpful video. Although I have come across a problem where after installation, glass has gone or slid up but now wouldn't go down. What have I done wrong?
BTW, better to not take the window out. You'll risk scratching tint or breaking it. Just push window all the way to the top in closed position and use black tape to hold it up there. Put the tape about midway up the window on outside to the top all the way around the top window frame and back down again on other side, inside of widow. Two or three strips like that holds the window in place real nice while you install the regulator. Again, great vid!
I really needed this so thank you. For future reference, the cameraperson shaking the camera constantly was intensely annoying. Perhaps you might invest in a camera stand or auto-stabilized camera ... or even a camera app for a phone that has stabilization included... because you're really good at this kind of video. If the video were of higher quality and stabilized, it would not have been headache-inducing. Still... I got the information I needed.
You don't HAVE to remove the speaker, the weatherstripping nor the window. Leave the window in the up position and hold it with masking tape, or a suction cup and hanger. The speaker can stay in the trim panel, just remove the wire when removing. My biggest problem was with the new part, the motor wire wasn't as long as what was removed. (couldn't reuse old one, just had to 'make it work. It's also a good idea to make sure ALL your pieces parts are back together BEFORE puttting back on the trim panel. NOTHING sucks as much as getting everything back together, then finding a plastic clip laying on the floormat. .
Thanks, great instructional video. My 2003 odyssey winow fell down today and I replaced it using your video. I have one glitch. When I first connected the window control I was able to raise the window but not lower it. After fully reassembled I can operate only from drivers side. Any clue what happened? is there some child safety lock or did control go bad?
wasn't sure if tape would hold. i pulled the glass all the way up, used a few pieces of stiff styrofoam vertically and wedged it in between the horizontal pole in the middle of the door and bottom of the window and it held up pretty nicely. also used tape just in case
Thanks for the video as I did this job for my first time and was successful. I would recommend not removing the window and just move it to the top and tape it.
Thanks, I needed to get mine done ASAP so I could leave it parked outside. Plus with winter coming I was wondering how I was going to get the kids to school with the window down and not get those judging stares from the teachers.
Great info. Helped me with my '04. Just be careful pulling the panel out. Or have some spare clips handy. And be 100% sure the child safety lock switch is off before testing whether it works or not.
G8 job sgtJasonshrout: In my case motor works but probably regulator broke down.Glass wont come up. do we have to replace complete unit? I guess after mkt regulator should be OK& how much should it cost approx.
Very best presentation You don't HAVE to remove the speaker, the weatherstripping nor the window. Leave the window in the up position and hold it with masking tape, or a suction cup and hanger. The speaker can stay in the trim panel, just remove the wire when removing. What is the part # ?
fixed it. Had trouble getting panel back on door & ended up breaking the small black piece in the front corner. Panel would not slide under that piece no matter how we tried.
Great info because I have to do this, but maybe you'd consider turning your phone sideways if you make another video. Imagine sitting down in the theater to watch a movie that was filmed like that.
Thanks Jason. I followed most of what you said and except for a few sheet metal slash cuts to my hand, everything works ! I'm in Canada and it's winter, so all the plastic needed some extra attention. How long will it take for my wife's hearing to return ? Did I mention I'm in Canada and it's winter. Of course the regulator decided to let go when we were 150 miles away from home. Is there any other time for a part to fail ? :)
thanks for posting instructions..saved me some bank at the dealer...$75 at napa auto for motor and regulator..gonna go spend the $ i sdaved on some good beers!!! woohoo
@Taken804 Try this again...replacement part on the internet...$60, video on TH-cam....free. Screwing the Honda dealership out several hundred dollars...priceless. Great video and thanks for the tutorial. What seemed like real bitch of a fix turns out to be a piece of cake. Thanks!
After several attempts I got it installed. The video was good but it could have helped more if the camera showed a larger view rather than being focused on a particular spot. The fact that the view was very narrow in the overall picture, it limited our view.
There is no need to take the glass out just tape it up with come duct tape over the top of the door and glue to outside and inside of glass best to tape on two spots so it doesn't fall - one towards back and another towards the front on highest part of window.
Thanks Jason. This little gem saved me about $350 net and I learned something in the process. Thanks as well to your son the cameraman for his fine, fine job as well.
Great job even 12 years later, still helping others, thanks Jason for sharing.

I really appreciate your video! Replaced bad regulator with a new one on an 01' Odyssey in a half hour! Regulator was $98+ tax, Original OEM.Thanks!
I'm really glad this has helped so many people. The next video that I'm working on is the TPS that is causing some bad transmission malfunctions.

An excellent job, thank you I couldn’t done without your detail work.
Thanks so much - this video made it considerably easier to do it myself. It took about an hour as I went slowly and followed the video step by step.
Perfect!
$50 amazon prime part
1hr give or take and our window now works. Well done!

Thank you!!!! Very much!!! Very helpful. Just did my 2004. God bless you.
Thanks, your straightforward step by step explanation and video was very helpful and got the job done. You saved me a lot of money on this repair!

ThankX Great Video, worked on an 04, the one problem was I could not remove the glass, window was stuck in the door. Hard getting the screws out. It went in easy and works great.
The glass is stuck on something at the bottom of the door on my 04, how did you free and raise it?
@@janeharg8411 That is the same problem I have. The window is stuck down and I can't access the bolts to get it up all the way.
Thank you for the video. I was able to replace the driver side window regulator.
Great helpful video. Although I have come across a problem where after installation, glass has gone or slid up but now wouldn't go down. What have I done wrong?

Thank you for posting this! Huge help today!
Thanks a bunch Jason this saved me lots of money! Subscribed~

$ 33.00 part on amazon
Thanks Jason. This worked awesome!
THANK YOU!!!! 03 Honda van owner. Mahalo.
Thank you so much men you video tech me how to save money you explaine step by step so easy thank you again
Great info. Helped me with my '04. Just be careful pulling the panel out. Or have some spare clips handy. And be 100% sure the child safety lock switch is off before testing whether it works or not.
Thanks so much! We saved ≈$350 because of this!
G8 job sgtJasonshrout: In my case motor works but probably regulator broke down.Glass wont come up. do we have to replace complete unit? I guess after mkt regulator should be OK& how much should it cost approx.
Thanks so much. Great help, fixed mine using your vid.
Very best presentation You don't HAVE to remove the speaker, the weatherstripping nor the window. Leave the window in the up position and hold it with masking tape, or a suction cup and hanger. The speaker can stay in the trim panel, just remove the wire when removing. What is the part # ?
Do you have any videos for replacing sliding door windows motor for Honda Odyssey 2006? My both winodws need replacing . Thanks
fixed it. Had trouble getting panel back on door & ended up breaking the small black piece in the front corner. Panel would not slide under that piece no matter how we tried.
Thank you very much, you the best!
Thanks for sharing. Very informative.
Thanks for the letcion Was very easy after aver watched the video and especially the few dollars safe thanks one more time
Thanks very much, very useful your video, I will try to do myself when I got it time, Do you had any problem with power seat motor?
Great info because I have to do this, but maybe you'd consider turning your phone sideways if you make another video. Imagine sitting down in the theater to watch a movie that was filmed like that.
Thanks a bunch man! This really helped
I’m still having trouble adjusting the window I put the screws in the right place and still it bearly goes up
Thanks Jason.
thanks for posting instructions..saved me some bank at the dealer...$75 at napa auto for motor and regulator..gonna go spend the $ i sdaved on some good beers!!! woohoo
Thank you. Good info.
Thx Just the right amount of info to get the job done!
$$ :)
Thank you now I just have to get it going
Thanks helped out tremendously ;-)
Thanks. Helpful.
Super info!!!
Nice video
