I met him in person in the 1980's and he was such a sweet man. He was very humble, and I will never forget how nice he was to me and the rest of his fans! They don't make them like Davy anymore. ♥♥♥
I met Davey in 1995 with Mickey Peter they were here in Nashville Tennessee doing a reunion concert Mike wasn't with them , God bless Davey 🙏 Peter 🙏 Mike 🙏
@Mary - That is such a correct and powerful statement. Fractured families from divorce, infidelity and having both parents (if not divorced) working being absent from home are the results we see today. Shameful! Everyone seems deceived thinking it's Greener on the other side.
I was his bodyguard for him during a show he performed in New York City 15 months before his passing. Even then he was extremely kind with a great sense of humor.
Wisecrack: "cute, wrong size!" I've been reading from Marvel Comics 'Excalibur' first issue. It's what caused me to fling this wisecrack, honest to God truth.
He was 21 in 1966 when the Monkees premiered, not 18...do the math...I remember it well as he was 7 years older than me. I met him when I was 17...what a blessed memory!!! He was as charming and sweet as I'd ever dreamed he'd be. Met him again 25 years later and he was such an angel...I am blessed to have conversed briefly with him twice before he left this world. Long live Davy Jones.
Yes, he was born 1945, same as my husband, so he was 20 in 1965 when he was cast for The Monkees. I'm glad he didn't become a jockey because we wouldn't have been blessed to see and hear him perform.
This is a very nice tribute piece. It seems kinda weird to choke up and get teary over an actor/singer, buts that's the way you felt about Davy, like he was your friend even though you'd never met. What a talented yet genuine and humble man. Gone way to soon, but with a legacy of music that will span generations. Thanks for the fun Davy. You are missed.
Such a humble & happy human being was DAVY, he brought colour ,hope and hapiness to this grey world, I saw a picture of Bernardette and she is Davy's portrait, THANK YOU DAVY JONES 4 ALL
he is just precious. He was truly loved by his parents. Anybody else reading this have a precious son? I do. Such a precious relationship/ Davy & his mother, then him & his father, and he passed it on to his family. God love him.
There are people who are in the entertainment business and they are talented , but they have their five minutes of fame and that is it. Davy Jones was that rare and special breed that appealed to so many for five decades. There will never be another performer like him again. They just don't exist anymore...
He was genuine; you can see it. He seems kind and intelligent; a person with a heart. May he be Resting in Peace, until the day Jesus brings us home to be with Him.
Davyyyyyy! So dreamy. My sister and I had our bedroom walls plastered with all those beautiful Tiger Beat centerfolds. I fell in love with Davy when I was 10 years old. ..... My first love! And would fall asleep every night with my Tiger Beat Magazine under my pillow! Rest In Peace beautiful Artful Dodger! And thank you for being a wonderful and joyful part of my childhood! Rest In Peace
That was FANTASTIC! Davy was always so talented and what a cutie he's always been! I was one of the million girls in love with him as a Monkee and was very shocked by his sudden death. I am playing his songs and can't seem to get him off of my mind! I LOVE HIM! Thank you so much for sharing this! R.I.P. David Thomas Jones! You will forever be in our hearts!
Wonderful footage that I'd not seen before. It broke my heart and made me feel suddenly old when I heard Davey had died. My younger years were spent watching the Monkees on Saturday morning TV .. oh what happy times !
I was fortunate enough to have been Davy’s neighbor in Hollywood FL. He was truly a class act and so generous with his energy. His Wife Jessica, also such a dear Soul.
Todos tenemos un recuerdo hermoso de él; pero estuve viendo un video del doctor Phil; invitado con su esposa Jesica; quede horrorizada von los comentarios en contra de ella. Él se llevó el secreto a la tumba.
Nice vid, he was a very talented lad/guy! I remember he was in America when the Beatles were here, also. Such a handsome & all-round special person he was. RIP Davy - - - 🙏💜
That was lovely. Never seen him being the artful Dodger before. I grew up watching the Monkees and love them: I thought they were more famous than the Beatles as they were on TV every Saturday while the Beatles only had the occasional film.
I love you Davy! You were such a wonderful man! Talented, & good looking & beautiful singing voice A gentle human being! No one will ever take his place!
David was a lovely person who was generous with his talents. My husband knew him (as a child) and his family from his Manchester days. When our school needed a star to open the school summer fete he gave his time freely, mixed with the locals and was a great success.
+monkeegirl76 Davy4ever They're just jerks - pay them no mind. Or, it might also be that they're sad that he's gone. It made me sad to watch this tribute - even though it is beautifully done.

I had the fortune to see him reprise the Artful Dodger role many years later on stage in San Jose, California. He was of course much too old for the role at that point, but makeup and suspension of disbelief can do wonders. I was thrilled to see my childhood idol in person! I’m not sure I realized at the time that he had essentially originated that role. RIP Davey. You gave joy and happiness to so many in your life. I’m kind of glad you didn’t end up being a jockey!
What an absolute treasure this is! A lot of footage I've not seen before and ALL of this is GOLDEN. Thank you so very much for posting and sharing and keeping Davy's memory alive! 💜🌹🍀
I met Davy Jones when I got my copy of his book, "They Made A Monkee Out Of Me" signed by him back in the late 1980s. I had one thing in common with him I had to sing songs from Oliver Twist and other British musicals from the Sound Of Music and Mary Poppins for my school assembly when I was a kid in the fifth grade in the 1960s. Watch The Monkees TV Show when it first premiered in the 1960s. RIP Davy Jones 😔

Funny you'd mention Japan. My Japanese cousin Sanae was a huge fan too. I used to listen to her records whenever we visited my aunt and uncle in Hino. ^_^
I remember back in the 60s or 70s looking at used albums and finding a Davy Jones album sing the hits hair slicked back singing early 60 numbers wow should have bought it
What a cutie Davy had always been! And undeniably talented ... nominated for a Tony at such a young age ... that's no small feat! May he rest in peace. He is dearly missed!
As a pre teen in the early 60's I was able to see Oliver, at the Fischer Theatre in Detroit. Davy Jones played The Artful Dodger. It was a magical preformance💛 Then came the Monkees. Saw them at the Olympia stadium in Detroit several years later. Great memories.

Wow, this is just so beautiful! There's no doubt that Davy would've loved this! I find myself very unfortunate that I couldn't have grew up in the 50s-70s, when the music, the people, and just about everything was at it's best! I always liked The Monkees, I played my mom's records and had some of their songs, but after Davy's passing, it drawn me to being even a bigger fan after hearing and reading about him! That’s wild. I had no idea that his show business career was THAT successful before the Monkees came along. And the fact that he performed on the very same Ed Sullivan Show as the Beatles on that cold February evening in 1964 boggles the mind. Was there any interaction? Anyway, it’s no wonder his mother encouraged him to get into acting. Besides his good looks, Davy as a young man simply exuded charisma. Talk about a natural.

This is what is created when a child is loved. He’s so trusting and even when insulted, he laughs. He just can’t believe that they would be cruel.
