Great review! I am trying to decide between 7pro and Epix. Mostly trying to figure out whether the display on the Epix is worth the battery life trade off. It was a good review but I still can’t decide!

Have you decided? I am in the same boat...leaning towards amoled

Hey mate. I really appreciate how much effort you've put into reviewing the Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2). But I have to say buddy as someone who made the horrible mistake of wearing my previous watch whilst showering for many months and never taking it off when I got wet. Please take your watch off just for the shower! You can handle not having the data for the 15 minutes shower. Wherever possible try not to wear it whilst your skin is wet (unless swimming). It's so easy for bacteria to mass around the watch and get into your skin this way, but the shower is "especially" bad due to soap and shampoo and it getting stuck around your watch and skin. Give your skin at least 30 minutes to dry off properly before you put the watch back on otherwise you'll end up with an even worse rash than you have now! Mark my words!

The AMOLED screen is not visible outdoors in California. The new backlight makes the MIP display my best choice.

Older OLED and AMOLED no, but the Epix Pro AMOLED is having no issues here in bright sunny (and too dry) southern Alberta!

I have the exact same thoughts to you on OLED versus MIP display. I ended up going with a phoenix seven for those reasons.

I have the epix pro, had it for maybe 2months, only complaint so far is that dang strap the metal clamp dug into my wrist forcing me to remove the watch until a new strap arrived, other than that it's awesome!

I have the fenix 7 47mm solar now and thinking of upgrading to the epix pro. But Im in debate between mips vs amoled...🤔

i have the Polar Vantage 3, which is a new Amoled Display. I love it but the debate here is not the battery as im also thinking of getting the Fenix 7 47mm or the 51mm. Im in Greece so im thinking if the best choise is the MIP or not.

@@Therevolution7 i brought the 965 and ery happy with it. Great big screen in the 47mm case. Battery life is great. Almost simular to the fenix7 solar

Sunlight will always be there outdoors so what happens to the fenix display then?

What’s the yellow strap on Epix2? Looks sharp

The Epix Pro is a great watch other than one thing; The massive black bezel ! The only reason that keeps me away purchasing it. It's unacceptable and a dealbreaker for a 1.100 USD watch. Nearly 15% of the screen is a waste !

It’s a placeholder. Garmin uses mostly the same body makeup for the Epix and Fenix.
On the Fenix Solar, there’d be a charging ring there. My take is it is a lazy hardware engineering approach but I can see why they did it.

@@JasonRaneses Yeah, they just filled the gap of the solar ring with black band. Just because of this i got a Fenix 7X Pro instead of Epix and i’m so happy with my decision. The screen quality of newer Fenix line is better than the previous ones, there is no blue backlight issue and they have deeper blacks. That’s my 3rd Fenix; Fenix 6X Pro -> Fenix 7 -> Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar Titanium.

How do you change to a nylon band for the epix 2 51mm?

    • @bufferino7880
      @bufferino7880 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I bought a few of these bands on Amazon. You just slide it through and velcro it to itself.

Regarding the Garmin pay function. There is a handy alternative, being a small piece of plastic, also known as credit card. Relatively thin and small and definitely fits in every pocket. Lighting at night is best achieved by a head light, providing reliable track illumination in contrast to an inbuilt watch light, moving in all kinds of directions depending on one‘s gait. And finally, don’t depend too much on electronic watch feedback, or you might lose your internal ability to judge your biorhythm.
