This is one of the best directed episodes I've ever seen, ever. Everything about the set up to the payoff was perfectly paced.
Rupa facing racism at the start of the episode was heartbreaking to see. You can tell she's used to it :(
I love how Momoka's former Diamond Dust teammates were still portrayed in a positive light. It may not be what Nina or Momoka wants, but it's not necessarily wrong either. Especially since their livelihood depends on it, since they all dropped out of high school. They have to support themselves.
Finally THAT ending. In the spirit of managing expectations I will warn not to expect a couple or anything this season, but it's still beautifully set up. I'm not sure I can add much to it. This scene is famous in the community

Nina's pleading with Momoka to not give up always gets me. Having the person that essentially saved your life say that the thing they did that inspired you to keep living wasn't good enough has got to be hard to deal with. Momoka's music saved Nina's life, how could it not be good enough?

Nina and momoka fights are both amazingly passionate and scary at the same time. Let's face it. Momoka wouldn't hit Nina anyway but let Nina hit her. That's how much they care for each other

I can't believe I'm a bit late to THE episode!
Anyways, this is probs my most favorite in the whole series. Not just because of the confession, but the overall emotional clash between them. It's obvious that they care for each other and that's why they argue a lot.
Speaking of the confession, I love the placement of it. It's not during Momoka cupping Nina's cheek or when Nina was crying her heart out to Momoka. It's when everything settled down and as they went back home, it's like Nina confirming to herself that she loves Momoka after all (Remember during the first part of the ep, she said that Momoka should punch her to give her a reason to hate her).
It's just the catharsis of Nina feeling like, "Ah, I really love her; flaws and all."
By the way, the writer of the show posted a short epilogue of the episode. The two ate dinner together (and was even implied they do this often. Alone.) And they have matching scars on their forehead (Momoka got hers from a fight)

Is Girls Band Cry a yuri or has hints of yuri? You now have an answer. I think the hints about the yuri are very subtle, which means that you can easily miss them with all the other things going on. Its not until episode 8 that you get the more obvious hint of yuri when Momoka caresses Nina's cheek to turn Nina to face her and keeps her hand there. It's comes as a surprise when you get Nina confessing her feelings right at the end of the episode, especially if you miss the earlier hits.❤ I think Momoka caressing Nina's cheek is a sign that Momoka reciprocates Nina's feelings.
Such an emotional episode with everything that happens!
We get to see Momoka as a cute high schooler, happy with her diamond dust band members and school friends. We now have a better idea as to why Momoka left diamond dust. They chose to become an idol band, and Momoka didn't want that, so left the band.
As far as I can remember, Rupa is mixed race Japanese national. I think her mother was Japanese, and her father was from somewhere in South Asia. That's why she gets ask where she is from and gets called a foreigner. Sounds like she gets other racist comments, too.
Nina's line 'If you want to hit me, go ahead. I'm used to it. In fact, I want you to. It'll finally give me a reason to hate you. Because you'll be just like them.', Nina flinching when Momoka pulled her fist back really hits home just how much the bullying at school has affected her and how and why Momoka's songs are important to her.
Bullying so bad that the bullies put Nina in the hospital. The school deciding that Nina was not being bullied and wanting Nina to forgive and shake hands with the girl who is bullying her. Seeing the girl smile, because she's got away with the bullying, and is most likely plotting to make things worse for Nina, is hard to watch. What a nasty piece of work she is! Can fully understand way Nina ran and chose to leave the school. I wonder if Nina's family accepted the schools version of what was happening rather than their daughters, hence a major factor in the rift between Nina and her family, especially with her father.
Nina fan but also like the other band members.

Has hints, honestly i did a little bit of research for myself and there's a Lot of hints ( i discovered that the VAs in a panel Said something about the episode that can be in interpreted as romance and the official twitter of Gbc likes Momoka x nina fanarts sometimes )
