    Used to fish around here years ago, wasn't too bad and always a few bites. But then the engineering works started dragging in beach to stop storm damage and all the sand bars ruined, with the cost if bait and lack of fish gave up fishing here. You have rekindled my thoughts on giving it a go again

      A number of venues I have fished have changed through coastal defence 'improvements' - have to adapt to those changes and just catch what's there - hopefully something, some of the time! Thanks for watching and commenting Alan.

    Really enjoyed watching this. I now live and fish on NZ's South Island east coast, but grew up in England fishing the East Anglian shingle beaches

      Hello from sunny Suffolk 😁still the same old shingle beach's but with the lack of cod 😳

    • @iangraham3018
      @iangraham3018 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keithpowell1357 that's pretty much what I'd heard too. I used to catch Whiting in October from Minsmere, then Cod from Felixstowe, Shingle Street or Aldeburgh in December

    • @keithpowell1357
      @keithpowell1357 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iangraham3018 cod from Felixstowe you'd be lucky now a days. But there has been an increase of skate and smooth hounds from the east coast beach's. Oh how I wish you could still fish of Felixstowe pier. Wsf east coast catch reports will keep you up to date not that you will need it 🙂. Tight lines 👍

      @rodsangleuk6283  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that Andy. I'm sure they're there somewhere - probably out of my casting range!

    • @andycollings4302
      @andycollings4302 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, as for out of range I would say. Not necessarily. My local beach (Preston Weymouth) is far shallower and lacking in tide than the beaches you fish, if you could see the size of the plaice a young seal has been catching in the last few weeks between the dip and sand bar, you wouldn't believe.. You will get the big one.

    I follow many of the other TH-cam shore anglers and i cant believe i never stumbled across this channel before. A few of the other guys could learn some tips from here. The narrative is great, nice calm and relaxing, giving enough of a gap to take in the audio of the surrounding area giving you more of a feeling of being there. The camera work and angles are superb allowing plenty of views of the area. And the fishing being great from a personal point of view. I love to catch variety of fish when i go out rather than target one species. Thumbs up, bell and Subbed. I look forward to watching your next video.

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that Russ. With 20lb braid I normally use a shock leader of about 30lb, with a double uni knot. If of any use - I show how I tie this in the White Horses ...Mixed Catch video.

    How is the finger Rod? did you try the Garrison Shoeburyness? nephew took a nice Smoothie on Ragworm on night tide last week and I lost one as it took me round the breakwater and snagged up =(

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Much better thanks mrwintski - overdid the digging and joint pain in my fingers put me out for a week! So glad you've connected with some decent fish off our stretch of coastline - well done! I've had one more try early morning but no joy. Had a decent schoolie on but it came off as I was playing around with a camera! If I wasn't trying to film the session, I would of just avoided a blank! Weed was an issue - I'll be back though!

  • @kenhenley7599

    Another excellent video and 2 good sessions - well they would be good for me anyway! I actually like dog fish, especially at night when their eyes seems to glow in the light of a head torch and they often prevent a blank. Lovely smooth hound. Bet that gave a good account for itself. Can anyone please explain why, when there's plenty of beach space about, boaters, kayakers, swimmers, picnickers and dog walkers seem to gravitate towards anglers? You were lucky with the weather during that second session...some mean looking clouds appeared and I was certain that rain would show. By the way, been meaning to ask this for ages...what tripod do you use? Looking forward to your next video. Keep safe, keep healthy and keep sane. Cheers. Ken

      @annabeltheunicorn9374 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So very true fellow Ken people with dogs get my goat. They let them off the lead aand they dive straight in amongst your gear, that or they throw a effing stick in the water to fetch right next to your rods. Ki always shout out look out loose hooks mind his paws. Oh that and swans on freshwater lol

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting again Ken. Yes I don't mind lesser-spotted cat sharks, as long as they are adding to a catch, rather thsn replacing what you are fishing for and if they behave themselves and don't take too much skin off the back of my hand!
      The tripod is a Leeda Icon version. I have a couple and interchange parts.
      Its just Sod's Law about other shore users. Yesterday there was only one windsurfer at Studland Bay all the time I was there, but you can guess where he fell off twice!

    Another enjoyable video, like the quality of your videos, do you have someone actually filming you or are you constantly repositioning your camera, also what type of camera do you use and any tips on how to make a good quality video like yours?

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Graham - I am constantly moving action cameras about (use a variety). Tips - do your own thing, develop your own style, be yourself, spend a lot of time playing around with various cameras until you find what works for you, focus on catching the fish rather than capturing the shot, spend hours editing!
