    I've done with one of them, this video is an excellent tutorial!
    ps: in my case a lots of paint layers were on it, and it would has been hard to remove them with hand and paper ...
    I used flex and sanding disc (80), but be very careful to avoid massive damages.
    Then I used papers 100, 180 and 400.
    And 800 for the primer, before color.
    The result has been very perfect!
    Thank you!
    G.

      @@TechCars I hope as well :) My car is more than 21 years old (from 2003.01), so if keep the current look for the next few years, it will be good, and can say "forever" :)

    Handy tip - raid the kitchen and find a "Lazy Susan" - its a round stand that spins. Place the part on the Lazy Susan and rotate it whilst spraying the part. Saves walking round and gets a nice even coat. Lazy Susan for Lazy Painters like me!

    I did this to my 9-3 Aero 2008 for about 1 year ago. Sandblasted the aluminum part of the mirror, then 2K primer and then 2K 20 shine matt black. About 1 year later and over 4000km still looks like brand new!

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome. 2K is the best. 👌👍

    Very well done . It's nice to know we can do it for our enjoyment and improve different ways of doing the job.

      Thanks. It's much easier letting a real paintshop do it. Removing the old black paint is time consuming. With the right tools this should not take long at all. Thanks for watching!

    Perfekt. Just vad jag letat efter. En väl producerad video, tack. En fråga: vad var skälet till att du valde matt färg, istället för blank?

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hej! Bra fråga. Jag funderade på att behålla det någorlunda "original". Blank kan säkert också se riktigt bra ut. Funderar du på blank?

    • @janmalmstrom7843
      @janmalmstrom7843 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tack för snabbt svar. Nja, nu när jag tittar efter så är ju originalfärgen matt, så det får nog bli det. Jag kommer också gå på din rekommendation om svart färg från Biltema, men ska även laga en del kaross-rost och tänkte där köpa färg från Bilfärg.se istället. Har du några erfarenheter från dem?

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@janmalmstrom7843 Har tyvärr ingen erfarenhet av bilfärg.se. Kollade lite på sidan och de har ett bra sortiment. Tror nog att de är snäppet bättre än biltema. Så här i efterhand hade jag nog även lagt en matt klarlack på det svarta för att få ett dunderbra skydd.

    Hej igen. Har nu skaffat nödvändig spray, men innan jag sätter igång undrar jag om du - när du slipade - endast använda handkraft + sandpapper? Alltså ingen maskin (ex Dremel, slipmaskin etc). Och, var bortmonteringen av båda sidospeglarna gjorda på samma sätt? Jag har sett/hört att det är nån liten skillnad (fästen, skruvar etc).

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Körde endast för hand med slippapper med olika grovlek. Det var ganska jobbigt att göra det för hand bara så du vet. 😳 Demonteringen vad jag minns var lika på bägge sidor.

    I will definitely have to do that on my cars for sure :) any maybe exchange the mirrors between those 2003, 2008 and 2009, as each of those has different functions, which does not match what I want for certain car to have.
    Very good video with all the details needed. Now noone can be afrad of doing it himself.
    P.S.: wonder how polished aluminium with maybe some (darkened?) epoxy clearcoat would do instead of black color, let's say on white / silver / grey / black car? Maybe also with that BLC window trim in chrome.

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Yes it's a good idea to do it. Depending on the level of functionality. A good way of knowing which mirror to look for is to enter the VIN number on this site www.thesaabsite.com/ and see if there's autodimming/memory and so on. Based on that you can go look on the scrapyards for a replacement. Depending on the color of the car it would be interesting to see some other trim configurations. Maybe like the NG9-5 where part of the mirror has a color and the other is black? ;)

    Fan vad fint! Samma bättringsfärg bör väl fungera för listerna som blir gråa med tiden va?

      @TechCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tack. Absolut. Det borde det göra! Än idag ser det lika bra ut faktiskt.

      Glömde skriva det! Använd plastprimer istället om du ska köra den matta färgen på listerna!

    I have two 9-5s, one 2008 and another that's a 2009 and I have also noticed that the glass on the side mirrors are different sizes. The glass on the 2009 are bigger and also seem to hold up better, they still look as new whereas I have already replaced the ones on the 2008.

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes model year 2010 have the better glasses. This applies to the og9-5 as well. It can also use the new frame, cap and glass if it's model year 03-09.

      Primern måste få ordentligt fäste. Annars släpper den. Risken är att om man inte gör rent under så släpper det längre fram. Inte säkert men risken finns..
