Can A 60 Volt eBike Provide Worthwhile Distance? Wired Freedom

- Today we'll take the Freedom out for my longest run. Let's see how the range holds up to moderate-fast riding.
Plan on seeing dead ducks, June bug terror, discussing the mythical Wired Liberty, and more. I'm sure it'll be overall weird.
We are trying to establish MPV (miles per volt) in mixed-use riding.
Enjoy and thanks for watching.

just a heads up guys, the dual battery has a 45 vs 40amp controller, 4 piston calipers up front vs 2 and bigger rotors. i believe it also puts out about 12 more nm's of torque. incremental upgrades with every new model but they add up nicely :)
What an awesome bike path!!
It is a good one! Thanks for watching, Jeff! RUGER
You gave it a hellacious ride thanks
Thanks for watching 👍👈. RUGER
I didn't know that the throttle was like a on / off switch. Thanks for the info.
Gunna be more sweet with the dual batts- Mines on order -- June cant come quick enough
Hey Ruger! There's a guy on YT that made a Wired Freedom into 72V. It's pretty wild, bro. lol. Keep taking us with you on your rides, I'm one of the three watching! HEHE
I'll have to look into that 72 volter. Sounds like it's right up my ally. Sure, we'll continue the path here and thanks for watching 👍 RUGER
Nice ride brother.
Thanks ✌
AN e-bike is most useful when it become ETILITY; An e-bike that is able to do a multitude of things in one's daily life....Benno's Bikes do such a thing. I found a few others that are useful/purposeful toward what I desire to do with an e-bike.
I have been riding bikes since the age of 2 and becoming more involved in the knowledge of cycling in my high School days. These are what are important in developing a quality bicycle; Frame Design, Quality of Components, Load Capacity in reference to the USE of the consumer.
I perceive the Wired Freedom e-bike as a bike that can go FAST; Simply a Fun Riding/Cruising bike.
The limited range is my biggest complaint about these high-powered e-bikes. The faster they go, the farther I want to ride. I ride 30-50 miles every day on my 250-watt, 36-volt Bosch mid-drive e-bikes. I would love to have a faster option for days when I'm tired, or just have a need for speed. I need a dual battery, long-range version of one of these bikes.
The e-cell 5 star is better bike cheaper with the upgrade option to dual battery's!
E-Cells Five Star, waiting on my delivery
Im between the two, hate the battery on e- cells , looks exposed and wonky. But specs are all great. What made u pick ecells over wired?
OK there we go! Thanks for the correction. I hope you absolutely love that rig, Mike 👍👍 Competiton is needed to push the limits. RUGER
@@marcusmobley5411 , all top notch components including 203mm brake rotors, the potted controller, Hentach motor, the option for a 19” frame at no extra charge also $100 off with a discount code and free shipping. They have been making e-bikes for 5 years and the owner has been building bikes for 25 years.
@@marcusmobley5411 I also ordered an E-Cell 5 star the 24 inch wheel option I'm only 5'8.
@@marcusmobley5411 Im not him, but Im in the same boat. Waiting on my ecells. Im like you in that I dont like the battery, but i guess its whatever. The big difference for me was being able to get a torque sensor. It seems like the freedom, most people just ghost pedal or barely use real energy. I want a workout - Im that weirdo that loves to push myself, but this will allow me to go further and not worry about running out of energy like I do when I hike extreme distances. Just throttle home, lol. I also upgraded to dual crown fork and the rear suspension. Im pretty sure these upgrades were wayyy overpriced, but I guess I dont have to install them myself. I watched a video of a guy that rode the freedom and said the suspension was lacking (but wired does sell a seat suspension on their page - i may get that too, but hopefully my upgrades do the trick and dont need it). I personally dont think you cant go wrong with either(judging from just watching videos), but if you want torque, ecells is your only bet. Also paying tax (i dont live in NV) + 250 shipping + 75 shipping insurance was a HUGE turnoff for the freedom. I got good upgrades (both suspensions upgraded and torque sensor) and still came out around 60 dollars cheaper than freedom base model (also use tailhappy discount code for 100 off the ecells on his ecells vid)
Nice Vid! With your aggressive style riding...i predicted you'd probably top out max at 30 miles....i was right! lol
Thanks! Yeah, could probably go further if willing to make it a snooze cruise 😎 RUGER
Heading to State Farm Stadium today for the Final Four. I’ll pass on $18 beer but will probably get a few $11 waters. Taking the wired freedom of cars up there. My model y lady mobile 😂
Ha Ha right on have a good time 👍 RUGER
Hi is the wired freedom available in the UK? Many thanks for your help and kind regards Martin
Not sure on that. You can try to order one and see if they send you one. I know the UK has some draconian ebike laws tho! RUGER
GO CARDINALS!!! ,but I watch from home with my own beer and whatever I want to eat 😆
That's a very financially prudent approach 🏁 RUGER
My Philodo H8 came with Sine Wave controllers
Sine Wave controller is the only way 2 go 😊
Hi Ruger 👋
I want Power and Range.
How far are you getting at an average 20MPH ?
Hey there! I go about 35-40 miles before range anxiety completely sets in. Probably could go more but, by that time I'm tired of riding. 👍👍 RUGER
Where in Arizona is this riding trail/road?
This trail stretches across Phoenix, Glendale, and Peoria. RUGER
Were you going for speed?
Were you all alone in your time of need?
Mixed riding, about 1/2 was speedy for sure. Yeah, alone is how I roll 😎 RUGER

I was hoping you'd get the reference off your video heading :)
@@iwastoldtherewouldbenomath6869 Ha ha ok, yeah I was in the middle of Costco! RUGER
I ordered one. I hope it hauls my gelatinous ass around at 285lbs 6'2"
Hope you enjoy that bike! RUGER
@@RugersLastResort I'm already eyeballing citizens awd and that other lunatics 72v setup lol.
@@sonofevil77 Those have to be a handful of fun 🏁🏁 RUGER
What mirror is that, bud?
That is a "Hafney" bar end mirror from Amazon. About $14. Good mirror for sure. RUGER
@@RugersLastResortThank you.
all throttles are 5 volt 3 wire. Buy a different twist throttle because they should all have a variable resister... 0.8v to 4v.
Wiring the new throttle is simple: Pos. Neg. and signal. 5v will not hurt your system even if you mistake wiring.
I also own this bike. The throttle is most definitely variable speed. Now it is a bit touchy but you can feather it.
Should have bought the E-Cells bike & saved the shipping cost also it's built in the USA!! but hay you got the 2nd best though.
Ha ha for sure! RUGER
so you want a $4000 ecells bike instead of 1999 bike smart
@@alexher-fedup Doof
Ecells are built in China, shipped to Nevada and then reshipped to the customer. He's just a middle man. They're all essentially the same bike. Anybody can buy the same cheap bike directly from the Chinese manufacturers for less money, you just won't get the support.
@@randallhack4477 You are full of Shit and a lying simp for the Gypsy girl, go eat a turd!
I'd rather have a 20" wheel version
What 'ya waitin' for? Get one! RUGER
It will do a little over 80 miles if you stay in assist 1 and 2 and pedal. Don’t use the throttle at all. Average weight rider.
What's an average weight rider? I'm 170 pounds.
