I am making the buns now, with fresh milled wheat. And Strong's concordance is my second favorite book.

Great video, thank you!!! I’ve been milling my own flour for less than a year, and I haven’t found any other videos on making hamburger buns! I didn’t want to have to buy another pan just for making buns, so this technique is awesome! Tried them & they were a hit with my family! ❤

Thank you for making this video. I recently purchased a grain mill and learning all I can. Your basic bread recipe is very good. The techniques for making hamburger buns absolutely works! We have enjoyed them several times!

Thank you so much!!! I already use that same recipe for bread AND I always slice my bread with an electric knife! Ha! I’m so excited to try this with hamburger buns tonight. Thanks for making it less daunting! 🥳

Hi, I saw your link in the whole grain milling FB group, and wanted to see.... I was so suprised with those large, heavy books, that they still rose so well! That was amazing... I'm vegan so wouldn't use the egg, and I always swap out oils and use ground flax and egg, so I'll try your recipe too. Thanks for a good demonstration!

Yes, it's crazy how it still works! Sometimes for a plain bun I don't even egg wash so that will be fine. :)

Ok…the electric knife so you don’t smash or tear apart the bread is genius!

I've never tried freezing my buns so I cant say. From what I've seen others say it should be ok.

How long does your second rise take?

I made the buns today but they were dry what did I do wrong with the dough?

    • @freshmilledmama

Maybe they needed a little more liquid? Difference in wheat berries, altitude, etc. can affect the outcome.

Tried this method and adding too much weight in the rise flattens them out too much for my liking. If you want a dome, go without the books on the pan, only let them sit for 5 to 15 min depending on the temp in your home. Then let them rise upwards for min 25 min or so. I do it this way religiously, and the shape (width and hight) come out like buns. Wow do they taste amazing even with hard red wheat ( hard white is my normal go to). Not sure how much yeast she puts in her basic bread recipe at first to get them to inflate well.
