Lol good vid as always. Those cams should really wake up the B16A. We picked up a solid 17whp and 9wtq with a set of those and a ported P73 intake manifold over stock B16a2 cams and Pr3 manifold. After tuning ofcourse. Would also recommend going to a BKR7E if you are currently running the 6. The new cam really liked the colder plug and bigger gap (47-53). The BKR7E @ 48 gap made 4whp over BKR6E @ 43 gap consistently and every little bit helps! The car was a 93 Si hatch so a bit heavy (2480lbs no driver) but it went 14.70s consistently with a B16a2/AEM V2 Intake, RMF Narrow 2.5" header, 2.5" test pipe/Bpipe to Vibrant muffler, RC310s, tuned on Crome. After the cams/P73 Intake and retune he was running 14.30s with a best of 14.26 and trapping over 100 every pass. We didn't dyno before the cams but after it made 176whp/117wtq. Not bad at all for a mostly stock B16.
Mark, I just tried to torque my JDM B18C Type-R head cams to 20 ft lbs and one of the bolts snapped off in the head. I just ordered all new 8mm and 6mm bolts from Honda and I'm going to try again. I'm running a built B18B1 block with a JDM B18C TYPE-R head with a Turbonetics 60-1. Every time I try to torque the 8mm bolts to 20 ft lbs it feels like they're stretching and about to snap and the cams sound like they're loose.
hey man. love watching your videos. I'm a fan of your channel. but I was wondering, is it really necessary to do a valve adjustment after installing those cams on?
why does the check engine light come on at high rpm is it a shift light lol btw love your vids I'd love to do an h22 swap in my 98 accord but not sure of how to do it any suggestions
Oh Lord, I hate torqueing down camshaft cap bolts. I've had the bolts snap off before and it always scares me. I'm in the middle of replacing my B series valve stem seals right now because every time I hit boost and let off I get a small puff of smoke.
+That Ford Guy You have to be really careful when torqueing down the camshaft cap bolts. For my B18B1 the torque spec is only 7 ft/lbs and unless you have a really high quality torque wrench, it's really hard to tell when you're at 7 ft/lbs (at least it is with my torque wrench).
I took that head to a machine shop and they told me that it was going to cost me a couple of hundred dollars to have what was left of that bolt removed and since my engine is just a LS and not a B16 or B18C, I just bought another head for $50 and installed it.
Hey guys love your channel. I'm running a high comp b20vtec tuned on neptune 198whp with b16b style pistions and a ported b16 head with gsr cams and valve. My question is , if I put type r cams in would it be worth it ? I have a set laying around but don't want to retune it . Could the cams be a good upgrade without a tune ?
Hi, I just swapped my Ej9 from a D14 to a B16 (which came complete with harness from an EG), I would like to know if it's possible to main the harnesses from the D14 and add a vtec wire to it? Thanks
will them.green hoses fit b18c4 im doin a head swap on my b18c4 got bc stage 2 cams and bc springs and vavles but im goin turbo soon got to do arp head bolt and cosmci gasket
Say I did this same exact process to a b16a2, wouldn't I need to tune the car? I see they used a modified type r map, so I'm guessing I couldn't just drop new cams in leave it at that?
does anyone know if i need to degree the tuner 2 cams before i can drive the car to the tuner shop? i’m scared about installing them and slapping the valves
I sent you a message on IG with some more detail, but is it necessary to run a FPR with these cams? The paperwork says +3-5%, I just don't know if that is a significant enough difference to justify the expense. In seems like the car runs rich from the factory, especially in VTEC. B16A2, stock internals, stock ecu/tune, with bolt ons, if anyone cares to throw in their two cents.
I'm actually in the same boat as you. Usdm b16a2 99si. Aem cai, toda rep header, 2.5 test, 2.5 exhaust, fpr. Just installed skunk2 tuner stage 1 cams, alpha valvetrain, lmas. Old tune: vtec set to 5k (I know it's low), rev limit at 8500. As of now, the car runs great with these cams. Just like mark said, makes the b16 feel more like a b18c. But.......I wont rev past 8k until i get a proper tune. Pretty excited to see. Gonna see what the dyno plot shows to better choose a vtec engagement point. Most likely 5,800 or 6k. We'll see. Will chime in after done.
I gotta question I have a 1994 Honda prelude Si 5speed I wanna know will my engine and transmission go right in a 1997 Honda prelude it was a 5speed but the ppl are selling the shell ??
If it's the same body style you shouldn't have a problem other than the vehicle being obd2. So you may have some sensor or wiring differences. If it's a different body style the worst scenario is different motor mounts or engine brackets and wiring.
i love what you guys do!!! any chance you guys would be interested in having a subscriber like my self bring an ek sedan to work on for the show? i love my Honda and have a nice car crew were i live i just wish i had the knowledge that you guys have!
+SI RICKO the car performs better. Are we getting every bit of performance out of it? No. If we were to take the car and have it dyno tuned. It would definitely be necessary. But it's more about having fun for a couple hundred bucks. But we may go stage 2 with springs and retainers then we'll put cam gears and degree them and dyno tune it.
with a stage 1 yes. you can tune your car to get more HP out of it but you don't really need to do it with a stage 1 because the car can self adjust to it, you just won't get as much of a gain without tuning; but stage 2 and higher you need to tune it
@@SepticMonkey42 you need a tune to get and real gains the ECU is going to try n make it as close to the base map as it can that's why u want to retune it for a better basemap 🤷♂️

What was your vtec engagement point on this tune?
I was gonna sell my ek coupe because everything is messed up but you guys changed my mind! I'm gonna keep my single cammer jammer
damn, that 2nd gear pull looks impressive
damn I need Honda techs like y'all in north central Florida..
"one single cammer jammer" haha
dude you alls work is on point . from how it looks to how it hooks . xD
you guys rock! keep it coming!! I like the Corona luv while doing the burn out LMFAO!
nice stuff, keep those videos coming.

same thing happened to me. luckily I was able to extract the bolt at home. Harbor Freight for the lose.
Very nice! This is what my gsr needs 😃😃😃
nice. you guys drive wrecking it at high rpm all the time?

great video. keep up the content. those cams and base map made a big difference. r they tuner or pro sereis cams?
Tuner
+Johnny Feliciano
Why would anyone want to run an engine with a basemap? Have it tuned.
Honda Street Garage Wats the techno song called it goes well with this video
how did you tighten the cam gears without the cam spinning and whats the cam gear torque spec
The white civic in the intro used to be the B20/vtec swapped civic?
When you go to change the camshafts to the old cam gears will they allign back how the same position as the old camshafts
Nice!!! Keep up the videos!!!
Hey man what rims were in that hatch, I want to buy those white rims but can’t find them
Hey man did you have to degree the cams? Skunk2 is saying they need to be degreed but you seemed to just drop them in.
will them.green hoses fit b18c4 im doin a head swap on my b18c4 got bc stage 2 cams and bc springs and vavles but im goin turbo soon got to do arp head bolt and cosmci gasket
Hi Mark,
Can you please tell which basemap are you using ? EK9 TYPE R or Integra one ?
Thanks
What brand and viscosity oils do you guys use in you vehicles???
Did the b16 have all stock valve train ?
No assembly line for the new cams?
Say I did this same exact process to a b16a2, wouldn't I need to tune the car? I see they used a modified type r map, so I'm guessing I couldn't just drop new cams in leave it at that?
It's a drop in cam but would work best if tuned or modified map in this case. Pretty much add more fuel at higher RPM etc...
hey, what happen . you guys fired that Jay layknow dude or did he quit
does anyone know if i need to degree the tuner 2 cams before i can drive the car to the tuner shop? i’m scared about installing them and slapping the valves
When installing the cams does it matter how you place the lobe
nice. obx twin loop?
me alegraron el día
do you really need to tune the car when you add new cams?
can you make a video of b20 with ls head and how to do it properly? please
The ls and b20 heads are exactly the same the intake manifolds are different but bolt right up.
i wonder how those stage one cams be in a gsr
can y'all do a h22/h23 swap soon there beastly n/a
Do i need to upgrade my springs retainers etc on my jdm itr b18c head for my skunk2 stg 2 tuner cams?
love the video, what are those wheels called on the red ek
96 spec Type R rims

What brand torque wrench are you using?
You like dem spinnin tires do ya
Hey buddy, is the injection map original?
Dope as videos
when u say stage 1 follow under pro 1 or tunner 1s?
Can i used this camshaft on the b18ctyper head stock?
??
@HondaStreetGarage Wats the name that techno song it goes well with this video
If I do on my integra GSR. Do i have to change the valve spring when i swap skunk2 camshaft or i don’t need too
It's recommended but not necessary with tuner stage 1.
But I did any way for peace of mind.
Can you feel the difference? I wanna switch my stock b16 cams to gsr

how many pounds for the cam gears when tightening?
Do you have a B20 vtec conversion
ok cool thanks im wanting to start working on my car soon is a realy clean one owner

Anybody knows where i can find a cam gear install video? Or any tips???
This camshaft they work good for a stock itr type r head?is save?need son help with tht inf..
??
Speedo on car is like 30-40mph off lol
A torque wrench that big is not accurate at such a low “ft lbs” any have problems ?
Are you reving to 9k with stock valve springs? Do you think i can do that with gsr valvetrain with these cams?
The B16A (not A2) has stronger valve springs. Gsr is good till about 8700. The B16A will do 9200 in my experience.
Which gen is this b16a? 10.4 compression or 10.2?
are this Skunk2 Stage 2 camshafts good and reliable
Why not boost the ek an daily it
How much horse power dide?
why do u guys run air boxs
could you guys do a vtec set up video? lsvtec.
We have one. Titled "how to b20vtec in the summer" it's the same as an ls.
My bad. I'll check it out now. Great channel btw.
where can I get them green hoses
what band is the intro music?
how much did you guys pay for them?
I recognize that post lol sextons muffler shop is the shit
awesome keep it up guys
intro song?
ok im new to the honda seen. i have a 1998 honda accord ex it have 4cylinder with vtec how can i find out what motor it is?
Should be an F22 or F23 I believe.
+Honda Street Garage is this motor a good starting point for a good sleeper car. i know it moves pretty good for being stock
There's a stamp engraved on the block, near where your transmission mates up to the block. By the exhaust manifold.
+Justin Sams it is however most people might want to swap in an H22. Very affordable swap and I believe you can use your transmission. Bolt in 200 hp.
found out I got a D14z2 it goes well with traffic but its quite an uninspiring block.
is it b16a sir2 170hp or b16a 150hp?
Would this work on a b16a2? I'm trying to get some advice on what would be some good mods for my del slo.
Did you end up doing it?
@@davidluna1116 no I didn’t still have the del Sol with the b16a2 but it’s completely stock. Got another project going atm.
Lmao! That burnout/dance
hi guys how hard it's to do the LMA
Y yall didn't degree the cams?
That would require cam gears. Since they're stage 1's and in a DD we weren't worried.
***** Ok but any cams that's not degreed is useless can the reason yall changed them for better performance, right =/ ? lol
+SI RICKO the car performs better. Are we getting every bit of performance out of it? No. If we were to take the car and have it dyno tuned. It would definitely be necessary. But it's more about having fun for a couple hundred bucks. But we may go stage 2 with springs and retainers then we'll put cam gears and degree them and dyno tune it.
how much power did those cams give u bro
Roughly 15-20 hp about 10 tq
why put all that work into a b16 when you can buy a b18 for the price of those cams?
B16a is a lot more free revving and has the best rod ratio after the b16b
IS this with stock valve springs?
Yes
dang bro you're going 9000 rpm on stock valve springs.
+electric feel the factory tachometers are always off by a little the rev limiter is set at 8700. The 97 spec can take it all day.
Don't you need cam gears for Tuner Stage 1s?
Pulls good
that car pulls good, thanks for the videos👏
was that stock valve train in the head
so with a stage 1 cam, can it be driven on a stock ecu? even just to go to a tuner?
