    I bought this as my only lens when I bought my A7IV about 30 months ago. Couldn’t have been happier and has covered me well for multiple trips since then. I’ve only recently added the tamron 28-200 and the Sony 50mm f/1.8.
    Can I just give a round of applause for the video that Dunna made?! What a lovely intro to his part of the world and a testament to the lens.

    So would you rather buy the sigma 24-70 or the tamron 28-75?

    Hello ! I have the G2 for 2 weeks now and before it I had the G1 for about 1 year. The G2 focuses faster and more accurate, the eye af is much more sticky on my RIII . Also the corner sharpness is improves and the bokeh, indeed. The build quality is a little better and the programable button is a plus. Overall the new lens is GREAT , I love it ! Is the ideal leans on the Sony mount. I wish they made new G2 versions of the 17-28 and 70-180 too ! I already have the 70-180 and I really, really want the changes of the liitle guy on the big guy ! Especially the Af, on the G2 is much more dependable than on the old lens and the 70-180.

    Yeah this lens is great. I tried the Sigma 24-70 and while it's an amazing lens the Tamron is so much more convenient for hiking and walking around. This thing is unbelievably light and small. You might lose 4mm on the wide end but the tradeoff is worth it. Not to mention that the styling of the G2 is much better than the first gen. Lenses like these are why I chose the Sony ecosystem.

      i disagree i really missed the 4mm landscapes look so much better and so many times when shooting events that extra 4mm saves you having to switch to a wide angle.

    • @NiqHowie
      @NiqHowie ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the old styling look better, but it is much more ergonomically efficient. The customization is insane. But I can’t justify upgrading. I still LOVE my first gen. I’ll probably buy their 17mm first before upgrading

      There is a lot nice things about sel24105: focal length range, OSS, 20/30fps for A9/A1, sharpness, magnification ratio…
      I think that also resell value is higher for Sony G and GM lenses ;-)

    • @WilliamAbbate
      @WilliamAbbate 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My Sony 24-105 is indispensable! It is by far the most versatile lens I have ever owned. It is on my A7iii more than any other lens, and will soon be on my A7iv. It is also one sharp lens with great bokeh zoomed out. Who needs a faster lens with the abilities of current full frame sensors! No way I could go back to a 28-70, or even a 24-70 regardless of their max aperture.

    • @steviegbcool
      @steviegbcool 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @nothingtoseeheremovealong...
      @nothingtoseeheremovealong... ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea the 24-105 is pretty soft compared with the G2 anyway, especially in the corners. So even if you have more range, you have less quality. Not a great tradeoff.

      @@dunnadidit : Just want to tell you I enjoy your format when it comes to photography. Tests on pictures a wall are great to weed out bad lens, but getting out in the world and seeing what it can do is far more important to me. When I shot photos back beginning in the 1970, I didn't care about how good the lens were, I wanted to capture images for my job and my adventures in the Air Force for the base newspaper. I was lucky to take my Nikon F2a into North Korea at the DMZ. All my cameras were fantastic, from the screw lens mount Pentax cameras, to the breach mount Canon FTB, and to my love, the F2A. Because I was using Tri-X and Kodachrome 64 most of the time, razor sharp photos wasn't a goal, it was getting the image. Cameras are time machines, never letting the past die. I feel your job is to bring excitement and joy into photography, not try to argue when is better. Is Sony the best, or is it Nikon. How about Canon or Panasonic? Who cares if you can't take a picture worth keeping.

    After testing the new version of the Tamron i sent my copy back. I could see little difference between my two year old older version of the lens. The only place it was better was in the far corners and that was very close. I usually crop in some so they were even in the final result.

    Great video! Not sure if you still have this lens, but, wondering if you have/had similar problems. When stopping down to F10 and above (F10 - F22), a noise comes from the lens (maybe the motor). When pressing the "focus hold" button, the sound stops--but restarts after releasing. I'm using two Sony FX3s (this happens on both of them).
    Lastly, I sent it to Tamron for warranty repair, and they stated their lens is not guaranteed to work on Cinema cameras, including the Sony FX3. Ironically, I tried it on the Sony A7SIII as well--same issues. Again, like to know if you're having similar problems with your lens while using the Sony FX3.

      @All Matt Racing I bought 3 sony 24-105 for the new inhouse studio, for the handheld stability, size and weight, plus the little more range with the zoom as I didn't know how far the cameras will be. I already used the same lens quite a while with my previous job and I felt while 2.8 would be amazing, this lens would full fill more gaps for my situation.
