I owned the EF 400mm IS Mark I, and it was a fantastic lens. Heavy. I moved to 400mm f4 DO II and that was a fantastic lens. Now I shoot the 200-400mm f4. And I own a 600mm f4 IS II. But I still look longingly for another 400mm f2.8. An RF version would be nice...
Thanks for the comment. I ended up buying the iShoot Tripod Mount Ring Base Support. As this was right for my particular set up. There are several others available just depends on how you want to mount the lens to a tripod or monopod. It's working ok so far just need to check the tightness of the screws before use.
Is it just YT compression, or does this lens have some noticeable CA? I had the EF 500mkii lens back in the day and literally never saw CA appearing even in very challenging circumstances. I guess you would buy this lens more for the bright aperture than extreme pinpoint sharpness.

If you make your living as a photo pro this isn’t much different than Uber driver leasing a car (and cheaper than a car). For me and you? Just dreaming lol

This lens looks like crap wide open, you need to stop down to F4 to get rid of some of that extreme CA.
Thanks for the comment.
What’s the Sony 400 F2.8 like? Is it just as good?
Yes it's probably just as good. I've seen a few people with the Sony 400mm producing great imagery.
Where did you purchase your neoprene covers from?
outdoor photography gear

I own the canon RF 400mm 2.8 L IS USM lens and am looking for a hard shell case. Could you recommend one? Thanks!
Yes, definitely. I bought the Nanuk 960 waterproof case. That seems to be working well so far. But the Pelican cases are also very good.
Cause you are rich 😅

Careful with lenses that are old as Canon support is unlikely. Do your research
