Don’t overthink it. If it’s what Filipinos normally eat, then it’s traditional. It doesn’t matter if it’s a chain or not. And there’s almost never going to be one specific traditional recipe. We’re 7,000 islands with 180 different ethnic groups. Adobo, for example, varies all over the country
Here's the unusual thing about Tapa King. It's ACTUALLY traditional food that just became a chain. Usually, a chain becomes a chain with fusion food, something that's universal around the world. For example, Jollibee is a franchise true and through because fried chicken was not invented by Jollibee or Filipinos; it's universal. But Tapa King serves traditional tapsilog the way it's cooked traditionally. Hope that explains it for our "bisitas."

Hey hey hey you're on your way ;) Good one!! I'm feeling as excited as you two, champs. You'd get traditional tapsilog at Tapa King. The only difference is that you'd have it at a fastfood chain, and as any other fastfood chain they give unique names to their products, so instead of simple tapsilog they'd give a trademark name to it🤣
Welcome to our country! If you want to experience our beautiful beaches here i would suggest these provinces for you to visit, Boracay which is common for tourists foriegners, but my favorite is Coron Palawan, El Nido Palawan and you can also go to Siargiao province. finally a foreign vlogger found my favorite eatery Tapa King👍🤩 btw you are correct that its a reataurant chain that have a humble stat, it is safe and clean The eateries you want are called Carinderia (every day food) or Ihawan(bbq /Grilled) or Bulalohan( Soup based)
Buses are not allowed in the airport, sorry for that.but you can use GRAB. Always use OR INSIST on METERED TAXIS. Yes, Tapa King is the correct place to go for tapsilog although in the Makati Poblacion for more local dishes.
Famous street foods BALUT - Duck embryo. There is 16 and 18 days old BANANA CUE - Plantain on stick, fried in oil with caramelized sugar Kwek kwek - Hard boiled egg or quail egg on stick with orange batter
You know it's true love when Ilona is willing to go anywhere with you, Chai.😉 Enjoy your time in the Philippines, but come back to Thailand soon. Be safe & have fun.
Tapa is dried or cured beef, pork, mutton, venison or horse meat, although other meat or even fish may be used. Filipinos prepare tapa by using thin slices of meat and curing these with salt and spices as a preservation method. Tapa is often cooked fried or grilled. In TAPA KING they used beef.
ha ha I was thinking more like 100K new Filipino champs awesome!! Lets go Lets go Lets go fellow champs!! The people are so engaging (so many speak excellent English) and love to have their country promoted. Very proud and so they should be. Wonderful country.
Stayed in Makati, Manila is very different than Bangkok, a great day trip is Corregidor Island, one of the most important battles of WWII, easy day trip. Tagaytay is a good day trip, Antonios Garden is a great restaurant there. Some great beaches like Palawan, to me there is no comparison between Manila and Thailand. Stayed at the Fairmont, Makati, some nice places around for a drink, good mall with restaurants near. No easy public transportation so more difficult to get around versus Bangkok.

Tapa is one of the traditional Filipino food introduced by Spain during their 300 years colonization, Bro if you want a Western-style environment try BGC
that's a pretty traditional breakfast actually. they just put some glitzy marketing spin on it that's why it seems a bit westernized and a bit more pricey. manila can be quite jarring at first, but like the proverbial mysterious lady of the night, once you get comfy w/ her, you'll get to enjoy her company more and more.
Welcome to the Philippines. And always safe where ever you go ..
You can use "po" (can be used for both male and female) to replace "krub" or "ka". For example, a more polite version of "salamat" (thank you) is "salamat po". A good start, plus it's good you tried tapsilog. No worries, you can experience a more traditional "food for the masses" through the carinderia. Welcome to the Philippines!
Just say 'salamat po'(thank you), to all young, old, and in between. You'll be fine. If the food is good, say 'masarap.' And don't let them hear you compare the other countries' stuff to the Filipinos' stuff too much. They are very proud of their own things. Happy travels!😉
In the first place its really quite rude to compare one country to another, right? Coz no 2 countries are alike. When you visit a country just try to be polite enough to appreciate what they can offer and dont look for something which they dont have. Besides, the Philippines got almost everything a normal person would need. Just ssying...

Hey hey hey you're on your way ;) Good one!! I'm feeling as excited as you two, champs. Yes I got a bit of an impression that eatery was a chain, a bit like Jollibee which you will see everywhere however the locals appear to like it. I reckon you two work brilliantly together as a TH-camr team so........... Let's go, let's go, let's go 🤩
Aw thanks champ! Haha yes she’s lovely tagging along with us. I wouldn’t like to be without her ☺️ haha let’s go, let’s go!!! 😁
@@Chai_Travel wow champ the enthusiasm already on here of the wonderful Filipino people. Love it champ, just love it. Messaged you on Instagram.
by the way someone below in their comment has quoted Let's go Lets go Let's go in the local language as Tara Na Tara Na Tara Na. That'll put a smile on the dial 😄
Pls Visit City Of Good Life Oroquieta,Province of Misamis Occidental Its More Fun in Philippines
You'd get traditional tapsilog at Tapa King. The only difference is that you'd have it at a fastfood chain, and as any other fastfood chain they give unique names to their products, so instead of simple tapsilog they'd give a trademark name to it🤣
Hi Chai!!… Welcome to The modern world of PARADISE… The one And only Philippines …have a nice And great stay in The Philippines…

Welcome to our country! Welcome to the Philippines guys. Enjoy and stay safe.
Awesome Chai and Ilona! I'm gonna follow your trip for sure! Love how you dare to talk into the camera anytime, on the plane, in the airport, you're amazing! Looking forward to the next episode.
Chai the natural. All that interviewing so not low on confidence. That's why you and I so looking forward to this unfolding and the success on this channel that should be forthcoming. A discreet mix of interviewing, food sampling, visiting iconic locations, waterfalls, beaches, catholic churches all of which the locals love being promoted. The thing is to balance business with actually sufficient pleasure of time off camera too. I am sure Chai and Ilona will get it right. I can see an extended stay unless there are already other plans 🤩
@@stevens8785 agree agree agree!
And to add, the personality of Chai, so full of confidence like you mentioned, but also so friendly and down to earth. 'Nuchter' as we call it in Dutch haha... not sure how to say it in English. That's what I love about Chai so much.
@@SweetLifeLanta I just used google transation and Nuchter in english means Sober. Sober isn't just not under the influence of alcohol or whatever else it also means serious, sensible, and solemn so with that I agree 100% 😂🤣😂
Thank you 😃 I'm so happy we met in Koh Lanta and we definitely will team up again one day soon 😃 It's so busy in the planning so I took your advise to take it a little more easy and will 2 uploads a week for the next 3 weeks so me and Ilona get to spent more time together while keep working on tghe channel. You're doing great I see! I gonna have to wait until we're back in Thailand but I obviously will catch up on you vlogs 😃 groetjes!

Buses are not allowed in the airport, sorry for that.but you can use GRAB. Always use OR INSIST on METERED TAXIS. Yes, Tapa King is the correct place to go for tapsilog although in the Makati Poblacion for more local dishes.

Welcome to the Philippines. Have fun guys!!!
Thanks you so much ❤️ we feel super welcome 🙏🏼
Tapa is dried or cured beef, pork, mutton, venison or horse meat, although other meat or even fish may be used. Filipinos prepare tapa by using thin slices of meat and curing these with salt and spices as a preservation method. Tapa is often cooked fried or grilled. In TAPA KING they used beef.
Welcome to the Philippines! You have 1 month to reach 50k subscribers. Let's go!

Welcome to the Philippines. I see you will be getting more subscribers here, ready for more local interaction.
Thank you for all the tips! Super nice of you to take your time for this :) we’re feeling happy and very welcome here🏆 cheers
@@iamrenzramientos FYI, many many big infra projects in Metro Manila are ongoing constructions as of today including modern subway train so soon infra in Manila are in next advance level and at far with the Best of the World.
@@rodnaspi2808 Lol..Don't be feel sensitive. Renz Sarmiento is just expressing his subjective viewpoint between Thailand and the Philippines. It's relatively true of Renz Sarmiento's comments😂😂😂
Welcome to the Philippines !

Im happy to hear from you man that you are looking for a local food instead of food from food chains. Im a local here in the Philippines and I also love trying local food than stuff from food chains. Welcome to the Philippines...your new follower...watching Italy!
Thank you 🏆 nice one! We have a few Italians on board already 😁. Welcome
that's a pretty traditional breakfast actually. they just put some glitzy marketing spin on it that's why it seems a bit westernized and a bit more pricey.
manila can be quite jarring at first, but like the proverbial mysterious lady of the night, once you get comfy w/ her, you'll get to enjoy her company more and more.
Mabuhay..!!!! Thank u for exploring PHILIPPINES
Welcome to the Philippines. First greetings to a visitors .. that’s only a beginning in your journey to the Philippines More food, beaches fruits 7,600 plus island to offer .My first tip don’t go to expensive restaurants more cheaper restaurant not to classy but food are delicious and prices affordable..Enjoy and More fun in the Philippines. My favorite place in philippines is Batanes. You should tour around Batanes and the people there are more friendly
We hope to go there one day 😃
Enjoyed watching the travel video. The first meal in a new country is always a memorable one and Salamat for the video.
Glad you enjoyed this on🏆! Thanks Japjot
Welcome to the Philippines!🇵🇭 Mabuhay! Enjoy and keepsafe 💕
Thank you so much. Hope you’ll enjoy the channel
Welcome to the Philippines mate! 🇵🇭
Thank you 🙏🏼🤗
Welcome to the Philippine enjoy and good luck to your journey❤️
Thank you!! 😊
Hello guys, may you have a great adventure in our country, stay safe and God bless always, watching from iligan city here in Mindanao, Phillipines
Thank you so much Alfredo
Welcome here in the phillipines...
Have fun and enjoy your stay
Thanks you 🤗
Just say 'salamat po'(thank you), to all young, old, and in between. You'll be fine. If the food is good, say 'masarap.'
And don't let them hear you compare the other countries' stuff to the Filipinos' stuff too much.
They are very proud of their own things. Happy travels!😉
I think everywhere we go it’s rude to compare within hearing of those native to the place where were in at that time
Thanks for the tips and lessons 😃 fair enough as the things we seen so far… the people should be proud of there country and it’s people 🤗
In the first place its really quite rude to compare one country to another, right? Coz no 2 countries are alike. When you visit a country just try to be polite enough to appreciate what they can offer and dont look for something which they dont have. Besides, the Philippines got almost everything a normal person would need. Just ssying...
@@Chai_Travel just add “po” at the end of every sentence, especially when saying “how are you?”- say Kamusta po? Instead of Kamusta ka?
Just subscribed to your channel. Welcome to Manila Philippines!!! Enjoy and safe travels 🥾🙌🎉

Tapa King serves local food. It is not a bad idea to get your Tapsilog there although the shredded beef is not very common elsewhere.
It's more fun in the Philippines 🇵🇭 Enjoy and explore 😊 im new here in your channel. God bless and Goodluck be safe 🙏
Thanks for subbing! 🏆 cheers
WELCOME TO THE PHILIPPINES🇵🇭 hope you enjoy it ✌
Thanks so much 😃
What you have eaten in that Tapa King is a kind of Filipino food. Yuo cant find it here in Europe (germany) nor in any Asian country unless yuo are in a Filipino restaurant. Tapa King is a food chain so they have thier own variety of Tapa or Tapsilog which is by the way served for breakfast.
