  • I kept seeing ads for this product so I decided to try it out!
    I used to always see these products and wonder what they were actually like. So the point of this series is to scratch that itch for my past self and hopefully some of you out there!
    There will be a Short of this coming out soon... and then I'll take a break from reviews. This isn't supposed to be a review channel. I think my mind is just geared towards reviews during the winter months. Maybe because of the extra time indoors.
    I'm also releasing a book - it's the Hybrid Routine in book form with some extra information. I hope people enjoy it!
    Hope you all have a wonderful 2023!

    Extra thoughts a few months after posting:
    -I've done unsponsored reviews for a few years now, but in future FOOD reviews (supplements, drinks, bars, or anything people put in their bodies), I'd like to give more detail, even if it means a longer video. It just seems there should be an extra level of prudence since we're digesting it and it's directing affecting our internal health - as opposed to, say, a pullup bar. Some people are naturally a bit more hesitant about these products, and I think that's reasonable. Thank you all for watching anyway!
    1:39 There is a clip missing here after the placebo line where I say "it's obviously hard to determine exactly how much, but I think at the effect is at least partially psychological. While this may not be entirely avoidable, it's something to keep in mind." This omission is why it seems like I pose a question that's not answered. The line was scripted and recorded, but I didn't notice it missing until a day after the upload. I apologize for that. My overall summary is still the same. I'll CONSIDER re-uploading (I know many people think this is silly but I like details).
    ---
    I kept seeing ads for this product so I decided to try it out!
    The summary: I like it, but I don't LOVE that the benefits come at a recurring monthly cost (even though that's entirely understandable for business). A long-term solution would be to use this as inspiration to optimize your diet and lifestyle to better thrive! Ideally, I'd get all my nutrients from my meals - personal preference!
    I used to always see these products and wonder what they were actually like. So the point of this series is to scratch that itch for my past self and hopefully some of you out there!

      Try nutritional yeast for B vitamins. It's much cheaper just mix with water and spread on avacado with toast. Or mix Chia seeds, flaxmeal, nutritional yeast with water and make a paste to put on food.

    • @I.m-Me
      @I.m-Me ปีที่แล้ว +4

      PSA: It claims to have some good ingredients, though you'd have to do an analysis because supplements are not under the same accuracy restrictions as things designated as food. Many supplements have been found to have wildly different percentages than claimed, or even be random weeds instead of listed ingredients. (I have bought powdered mushrooms and definitely noticed that my body appreciated the addition, but haven't had success in attempting to determine whether powdered food ingredients are legally classified as food or supplements, so it's possible that I just happened across a good brand.)
      There is also a huge amount of B vitamins, which can make you feel great, but you can also overdose and have negative health effects.
      Additionally, it's got a California Prop 65 warning, which requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. (Exposure to these chemicals may take place when products are acquired or used.) You really shouldn't eat things with that warning label on a regular basis 😬.
      Additionally, if you're able to grow some of your own ingredients or buy from local growers*, you'll be eating things that are fresher, and likely to have better nutrition from being both picked when ripe and not monocultured repeatedly. If you can, something like 3 sisters is space-saving, nutritious, and good for the soil.
      * Do your due diligence, some people at farmers' markets are just marking up low quality stuff they bought cheap.

      It's an absolute scam though. Eat two bananas and a tomato a day and you'll be MUCH healthier than taking this.
      AG1 is a pyramid scheme, and because it's so expensive people will convince themselves to like it, after splurging that much money on it, to make themselves not feel guilty about their purchase.

    • @Xul
      @Xul 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +51

      Do you really think the marketing department of AG1, that has basically created one of the best social-media campaigns on the planet that comes as close to a scam as legally possible wouldn't counter the upcoming critcism with exactly such videos?! Don't be naive, this video here screams astroturfing.
      The way this video reverts or relativizes almost *every* criticism into full-on appraisal without ever even going into specifics ("feeling better" ... sure sure) is very suspicious. Also adding irrelevant side-notes about taste with such a huge emphasis while panning multiple-times across product pictures, websites etc. looks really fishy ...
      To make it short: AG1 still is an overpriced (almost-)scam. Get specific supplements if you need some and let doctors make test before you start to throw away your money for this.

Have you compared the nutrition in this supp compared to a meal on cronometer or something like that? No? Then why are you assuming it's good? it isn't lol. It has almost NO fibre which is one of the main reasons you want to eat veggies in the first place, it is also missing the thousands of chemicals that make up each of these veggies and fruits, they merely extract some parts of it. They literally charge you a PREMIUM price for an INFERIOR product.

    You hit it spot on with the whole "it gives you a glimpse of what you could feel be improving your diet, lifestyle, etc". I'm a full-time college student and budgeting in $100 a month for a daily supplement is just too much of a stretch but I did like how it made me feel (slight change in the diet as well). My key takeaway really is that it was more with what I currently eat than what AG1 adds to my lifestyle, so I know its hard but had to get discipline to clean up my current lifestyle rather than to bandaid it with a supplement product.

      Order a amazon branded green drink powder( check the ingredients to make sure its worth it )
      when it arrives say “the container was opened when you got your package and it’s unusable”. As long as you ONLY do refunds for this once a month for a refill amazon will always give you a refund no questions asked.

      @@briterry4961 it's definitely not a cure all, I think that having a healthy life style is more important first and foremost and then one could use a powder like this as an additional thing to help out the diet in terms of micronutrients. One thing that helped me get it together was eating a high protein diet and weightlifting. Lost body fat like crazy and gained muscle. Best decision of my life. No more IBS attacks. I tried a greens powder like this stuff except it was a different brand and I couldn't get past the taste. It was awful lol. Even when I mixed it with other stuff, it was pretty gross. I just try to focus on eating fruit and veg every day instead and change up what kinds I'm eating to get lots of different micronutrients. Plus I take a generic one a day adult multivitamin. Wish you all the best in your fitness journey!

    I’ve been using AG1 for about three months as well, and have seen a significant improvement from the probiotics and my digestive system. I’m in my late 50s , and nutrition is important to me. This is a one stop drink that convenient, tastes good (tho I mix it with apple juice) and easy for on the go with the travel packets. I will say that it doesn’t completely devolve and it is a bit gritty, but that’s ok by me. All in all, I’m going to keep drinking it as I’ve seen the benefits.

      @user-lv7ph7hs7l 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      That's placebo, the amount of actual stuff in AG is miniscule and the benefit of probiotics is exactly zero. You make them. You need to consume stuff that encourages your body to make your own probiotics, how AG claims it works is not how it works. There is a reason that they market so aggressively and placebo is powerful. And the stuff like vitamins that actually works in AG is in very small quantities and cheap as dirt if you just buy a multivitamin at the supermarket. Also apples do exist. 2 bucks for 6. 1 buck for a 10 pack of multivitamins, that covers any need your body could ever have for that sorta stuff per month. Some chemist analysed it I can send a link if I find it.

      If you really wanna feel great and drink something that's gritty and green get yourself some kratom. 3-5g in half a Liter of boiling water with a dash of lemon juice. Remember to stirr up before taking a sip as it does not fully dissolve in water. It tastes like green tea and it'll make you feel real good. No placebo. Also it's substantially cheaper. 20 bucks for 100g.

Since you can't prove such background deals and people are gullible as fuck, these shady astroturfing campaigns are actually quite effective. This whole video here is very busy redirecting usual criticism of the AG1 scam into positive messages (but it tastes good, and I feel good ... ) while having extremely heavy product placement (needlessly showing the website and constantly having the logo up-front).

An apple alone has 4g of fibre and a lentil soup can be up to 20g of fibre, this is a horrible product that I wouldn't recommend to anyone, the other fact is that their nutrition is incomplete, an apple alone has thousands of chemicals but this supplement is merely extracting some parts and this change how it affects the body (usually it has no effect at all) so please, buy the REAL fruit and veggies instead, it is ALWAYS going to be superior.

      I really am just bad about getting vegetables in my diet. I've tried blending smoothies and such, but I really hate cleaning the blender, which ends up being a barrier to me making smoothies in the first place.
      Athletic greens seems like it could fill a niche where it's convenient enough for me, and quick enough to drink so that I don't really need to taste vegetables for very long, so that I actually fill this nutritional gap in my diet.
      Would it be better for me to just eat a more balanced diet? Yes. But I know my track record with that. So rather than trying and failing to eat more vegetables when sometimes I even have trouble eating food I like, I figure AG may be a good solution for *me*.

    Honest review from someone who pays dearly for it: 3 of my 4 family members are on it… I’ve personally been taking it for a year.
    Bottom line: for us, totally 1000% worth it.
    As to the placebo effect, we’re science nerds and take our experiments seriously. We’ve been through many different green powders, and so far the only thing that was equivalent in how we felt was when we made our own green drink smoothies from scratch each day, literally grinding fruits and veggies in a blender. But even then, we don’t have enough variety.
    Finally, I’ve also been on a keto diet for many months (for neurological reasons), and I feel like Athletic Greens is getting me through this.
    -
    If your diet is already great, this stiff probably doesn’t mean much. But mine is weak. We don’t eat *bad* things… but we don’t eat nearly enough variety of “good.”
    For what it’s worth, I partly justify the price by telling myself it’s saving on possible medical costs and lost productivity (for which I have zero evidence 😂), but I *did* cut back on most of my other supplements and even one prescription.
    I’m on a budget and this cost IS a rather big deal for me. But again, for me it’s more than worth other sacrifices. Every now and then I forget to take it and then the next day when I do, it’s suddenly obvious again.

      All I can say is that these powders are inferior to the actual product that they try to replicate and that is the real fruits and veggies, what worries me is that this only has 2g of fibre (which is due to the fact that the fibre is DESTROYED when it is processed into a powder) and that is a major concern alone since the recommended fibre for men is 36g.

    I used to make my own blend of different greens powders to add to my daily morning smoothie but I don't know why I stopped even if I felt so much better, after seeing all those ads for AG1 I thought it was overhyped like a lot of these, I went to check the ingredients because of your video and I'm so happy that it's pretty much the same main things I used to put in my blend, I'm gonna go back to using this blend and when I run out I'll probably try AG1, thanks for the inspiration and the true review :)

      Honestly, with the enormous price and spirulina (that’s been known forever) as main ingredient AG1 seems like a huge ripoff to me.

    My father in law got my wife and I to try it. So far I feel my energy is a little better and my digestive system seems to be more regular. We're 1 week in and I think so far it's worth it. This morning I ended up skipping breakfast and actually felt pretty good until right about now which is lunch time and I'm getting hungry. We'll give it some more time before deciding to ask for that refund.

    Coincidentally, the ad TH-cam showed next to your video was an Athletic Greens ad. Lol! Thanks for the review!

    Great video, truly shines with integrity and honesty. A suggestion to those (like me) who are discouraged by the price -- don't take it *every* day. There's an argument around how much of supplements are truly absorbed & digested, and how hard it is to know what's missing (and how much or often) from our diet. So my view is that taking supplements every other day helps balance the cost/benefits. Not getting as much as my body needs, perhaps, but still more than none. Just an idea -- I think I've been convinced to give this stuff a try!! Thanks for taking the time to talk about it!

      good suggestion. I think I can afford/justify the cost if I were to use it every other day. As a Canadian, it's even more expensive for me so this tip helps
