      @@CrashAndrewsso you were going to be upset regardless of who got the top pick…? Kinda seems like you have selective outrage dude. He didn’t pull a lindros and he won’t be the “heel” or hated player you keep talking about because he didn’t do what YOU wanted him to and refuse to play for Chicago. You don’t take away picks for something that has nothing to do with hockey 13 years ago. You genuinely think Bedard would rather go to a Disney franchise or a poverty franchise like Arizona instead of an original 6 team with the best prospect pool in the league..? It’s okay to be salty and condemn sexual assault, just do it to every team that does it instead of only the one you hate. The draft wasn’t rigged, Edmonton moved up two spots to take McDavid and that was what? They’re 6th first overall pick in like 10 years?! Just move forward man. Stop using the same tired ass argument all Chicago haters are using. They only take picks for cheating, not two grown men hooking up. Even if there was creepy pressure involved. That dude should’ve been fired and outed but that’s not what happened. They were fined 2 million and fired any and everyone connected to that situation. A hall of fame coach stepped down while his team was in 1st place. Stop acting like no one got punished. They did. Now we get to see Bedard Vs Crosby and guess what? You’ll be watching the game too. Come with the same energy towards hockey Canada and all the allegations they’ve buried. Or the guy who was abusing multiple players and got to create his own OHL franchise. Unfortunately the NHL and every other league buries allegations. Look at Deshawn Watson, they outed him and his TWENTY+ allegations and he got 200 million guaranteed. It’s a business and a machine that doesn’t give a shit about your feelings or anyone else’s. They aren’t a shitty team to support, don’t shit on fans for something they had nothing to do with and no control over. You sold a jersey and stopped respecting two hall of fame players because of something you know virtually nothing about. Were you in the locker room? Did you actually see or hear them turn a blind eye or bully the guy? No, because you have the same info all of us have. You can make things up in your head, that doesn’t make them right. Toews and Kane were kids too! You’re blaming the wrong people. Blame Quenville and the GM. Not the fanbase and the 17 year old that just got drafted.

      Ownership hasn’t changed. A sexual crime was committed, and promoted to another organization where it was allowed to happen again. This isn’t a slash or contract tampering. This was a crime that the Blackhawks chose to cover up, and the NHL chose to look the other way on. There is no punishment that makes this remotely OK.

    • @Neko-jx7mv
      @Neko-jx7mv ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @Crash Andrews I just have to point out, "the Blackhawks didn't cover it up." The investigation clearly proves that ONLY John McDonough (CEO), Stan Bowman, and Joel Quenneville were privy to information about Kyle Beach & covering it up.
      I'd agree that if the owner Rocky Wirtz knew, then yes. Force the sale of the team at minimum. But that's not the case.
      Just because the owner isn't showing enough compassion and empathy in your view (which id also agree with you on btw) doesn't mean he is any more responsible for what was proven in the investigation.

    • @CrashAndrews
      @CrashAndrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Neko-jx7mv He may not have been responsible, but he should be held accountable that they were his hires, and it happened under his roof. You don't just casually take draft compensation from teams unless the action that they did robbed the 31 other franchises of a fair and equitable opportunity accomplishing "×." Like the Devils w/ Kovalchuk, Arizona, etc.
    Getting under the cap while really being over, Colluding, Tampering, etc. Those are examples of violations that affect the rest of the league.
    The comp is taken to level the playing field for the other teams. The Beach scandal didn't affect the rest of the league.

  • @Ebbs-ez2fs
    @Ebbs-ez2fs ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Also, yes, I'm sure you're entirely correct, I'm sure Mr. Beach is feeling terrible emotions again strictly because the Blackhawks are picking first overall and NOT at all because you guys are making the scandal & his name trend on Twitter to be the main storyline! For the next several months because yall really just dont want to see a successful franchise get a superstar this fast. Very unsportsmanlike way to think. Let's be clear nobody ever deserves to win the draft lottery. It's entirely by chance nothing else, that's the whole point.
    Also, the blackhawks reconciliation and reaching out with him for potential aid would entirely be private and covered by the NDA in his player contract. Just like every other current and former NHL player. So just because you don't know of any information proving such doesn't mean it hasn't happened. That holds the same amount of water as saying that the 2020 election was rigged.🤣
    What If, Connor Bredard is happy to be a Blackhawk? Does that justify hating on a kid, a future star who had nothing to do with the scandal, nor anyone in current positions in the franchise.

      @Crash Andrews I apologize if that's how it comes across. I simply think this is NOT a simple issue when, in fact, it's highly complicated. I also believe it's critical to have this type of conversation in the community, as I'm sure you do also. Hense, the whole reason you ranted about "Chicago" for most of that segment.
      I agree that this criminal conduct is terrible. And it symbolizes a massive issue with "sports culture." Believe me, nobody was more disappointed than OUR fans. It's simply a lot easier to give in to implicit bias & and judge another team more harshly than you would your own. Especially if the team in question has recently been very successful. Obviously, we had been in Chicago, lol. Which makes sense that we have a lot of enemies.
      I do admit the majority of fan bases are using this as a convenient excuse to try and stigmatize the Blackhawks forever.
      Probably because it's gonna take nearly forever for their dog water favorite teams to win 3 cups in under 6 seasons🔥🤣 like we did.

    Terrible take, my friend. Nobody in the organization that knew about it or were involved is still there.
    Despite what ya like to believe ownership was not made aware, the independent investigation proved that. There was clear collusion between 2-3 high ranking individuals to keep ownership, & the public in the dark. The individuals responsible deserve more punishment than the organization as a whole. Period end of story.
    And for the record issues like finding ways to get under the cap while being over, colluding between teams, tampering, Things that rob the 31 other franchises a fair & equitable opportunity at "×".
    Those are the instances in which draft compensation is penalized to equal it out. It is never been about anything else. Do I agree Blackhawks should have been fined more money absolutely. But draft compensation is a petty position. 🙄
    Also it was not "two years ago" it was actually 13 years ago.

    • @CrashAndrews
      @CrashAndrews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I made it clear in the video that we found out about the situation that happened ten years ago two years ago.
      The Blackhawks ownership has taken a complete stance that because they didn't know about it, they're not responsible for it, which is disgusting in itself. This franchise's handling of the situation has been a joke since it became public.
      And Ownership, if they weren't aware, were still responsible for hiring said "high ranking individuals". Nobody who knew took it to the top. Everyone who was informed at the time decided to cover it up. Nobody came forward to protect a teammate. Nobody.
      Smaller issues like circumvention or tampering have been punished more than A FULL ON CRIME. Think about that for a second. A player's safety and trust was violated, and the punishment to the team was made up in one night of Season Ticket sales after being able to draft a generational talent.
      I'm good with us not seeing things the same here.

    • @Ebbs-ez2fs
      @Ebbs-ez2fs ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @Crash Andrews I understand. However, taking away draft picks is typically done to even out the playing field for an action taken by a team that robs the other teams a fair opportunity at the same thing.
      You don't just take away a first round draft pick for something that happened ten years ago, that ONLY 2-3 people knew about and hide from ownership. And the teammates did NOT know to the extent that you are implying, that's also proven in the investigation.
      Beach wasn't a roster player. He was with Rockford in the AHL ton. Which was 99% because the Hawks were really good and had a ton of depth. No roster space for him. Don't act like Brad Aldrich, as an Ast. Video Coach in any capacity had the ability to make or influence that kind of roster move. A move that is made by a HC & GM 100% of the time in the NHL.
      Covering up sexual assault by two or three individuals is an independent issue that doesn't affect any other franchise.
      You would be hard pressed to find another time in NHL history where such an instance occurs with a fine of draft comp under these unique circumstances.

      @Crash Andrews the league is not the government. A real court determines punishment for a crime. Also, covering up SA isn't a crime. The sexual assault is the crime, which means all liabilities for the "crime" itself that you're so tied up on is on Brad Adlrich. Real conviently faulty logic there.
      You can deny it, but I know. If this was your team, you wouldn't have this same position. I know you'll claim otherwise, but the fault in the logic tells a much more accurate story on your line of reasoning here.
      Arizona, for example, hosting its own private combine for players on the down low is absolutely something in the leagues proper jurisdiction over. And does rob the 31 other teams of a fair opportunity of scouting those players in the same method.
      How about this, the Bowman's are heavily responsible for this cover-up. Stan Bowman AND Scotty Bowman! (Dispite Scotty not being officially implicated in the report), but we can reasonably assume his son Stan told his father, at the dinner table or something. Don't forget Al MacIsaac, so many of the staff complicit were Canadians. Born, raised, and began most of their careers in hockey in Canada. What about all the Canadian franchises that have hired them in the past, or potential are looking to hire them in the future? Convient you don't blame those teams or Canada as a whole for producing such terrible people. 🙄
      Obviously, I'm being a little sarcastic, but this is literally the equilivent of your logic. Smh

I love that everyone hates the fact that we can make another run. We don’t get that here in Chicago. We don’t have a Duke, Yankees, Patriots, Lakers type franchise here. Our teams for the most part suck for a long time and we win occasionally. Cubs one title in 111 years, Sox one title in 100 years, Bears one Superbowl ever, the Bulls 6 titles in the 90’s then nothing. The Fire can’t do nothing right since the late 90’s, The Illini struggle since the 20’s, The Hawks won their last 3 in the teens, and now have a chance to be good again this fast.. that just doesn’t happen here.

    what the hawks did and what the other teams did that had to forfeit draft picks are apples and oranges. those teams forfeited picks because it effected the competitive balance of the league, (ie stealing signs during a baseball game - houston astros). what the hawks did, as bad as it was, doesn't fall under that category. hence, i don't believe the commissioner/league had the power to take draft picks away from chicago. termination and a fine was the toughest punishment that was allowed to be levied.

The hawks had the 3rd best odds to get Bernard, and because of that NO ONE was talking about it. If that hawks got the 2nd, 3rd or 4th pick, this isn’t brought up again, but because it’s 1st it has been. Doing that undermines the situation. If this was a conversation that had been going around for months sure, but only because that card was 1st it’s being talked about. You aren’t defending those who were hurt in this situation, you’re using them. And the amount of people I’ve seen going into comments section saying awful things the Blackhawks fans is horrible. It’s makes me sad and I feel for Bernard because a segment of the Hockey fan base will hate him for this. If you truly care do something, petition the NHL to have the team sold, but don’t make this about getting a player. The hawks didn’t cover up rape and get Bernard as a reward I am so sick of ppl saying that. They were a black eye on the league the last year and a half, and did something their own fans were appalled by and independently won a lottery. It sucks it’s come to this, but just stop.

    My whole issue with everything that happened is the blame for the lack of punishment falls directly on the NHL and Gary Bettman (BOO!!!!!!!!!!!!). It happened, there was a punishment. (Yes they should have lost draft capital, playoff spots, an artificially lower cap. Things that can and will hurt a team) The problem I have is that you can't complain 2 years after the fact about something wasn't good enough because a result happened you didn't like. (I'd bet if they only gotten 2nd, you would not have been on here making this video. You might have said the same thing about them not deserving a pick like Fantilli, who will become a Superstar btw, but the anger and disappointment wouldn't be there.)
    Here's a real world example: Person commits crime. Person gets punished for said crime. Person holds up their end of the punishment then finds out they had a winning lottery (HAH i get it) ticket that they purchased before the crimes. They now live a life of luxury. Do they deserve it? Hell no, but good sh*t happens to bad people all the time.
    My personal opinion is that more people should have been criminally charged, but weren't. All members of the organization are gone now. The new guys have nothing to do with the past. (the owner should be forced to sell, but the blackhawks are worth billions. So let's punish them by rewarding them with a ton of money but they don't own an NHL team.)
    Let's play a game. They lost this pick, continue to suck, and win next year. By all accounts, Macklin Celebrini is going to be #1 and a superstar as well. They win. I put money on people saying "oh they don't deserve it, wah wah wah". When does it end? What's your cost then? 2 1st rounders? 3? Never ever pick in the 1st round again? It's gotta end somewhere. But the feeling I get is people don't like to see the same team win year after year, so the hawks were villain 1A before this whole thing came out and people would have still hated to see Bedard go there anyway.
    Long post, sorry if it bounces around. D*mn zoom call.

      You make some great points that are hard to argue with, and you presented them in a way that won't hypothetically help me cry myself to sleep tonight. I commend you for articulating so well. Please read this with less sarcasm than I'd give anyone who thinks debating me in comments by calling me an idiot will help change my mind.
      It's hard to let go of such an amazingly disgusting act, and the act of covering it up two years later. And I agree with you, the league should have handed down harsher sanctions. This was fumbled from the day that it happened that when good things happen to the Hawks, it's hard not to say they shouldn't receive anything positive.
      I even hate that I will dislike Connor Bedard the minute he skates for the club (provided the Hawks draft him... ie-Shane Wright).
      It's a mess all over the place that might be a tad unjustified, but not as unjustified as how we got here.

    So would there be anyone upset if the Hawks got the 2nd pick and Fantilli? No! No one would have said the Hawks should have lost the 2nd pick then!

    All involved are out of hockey and need approval to come back. There are also no players left from any of those teams or years. Don’t be a hater we got Bedard. If someone else got him would you still be making this video? I think not.

      If any other team got him, I would not be making this video. You are correct. Thanks for your comment.

    They were already punished. All the front offices were released and basically banned only if approved by Bettman. Fined 2 million dollars, and if they were going to lose a draft pick, it would have been '22.
    And by the way, if you read the report, Stan Bowman reported the account to the higher up and thought that was going to get taken care of. Well, it didn't. He didn't follow up, and he paid for it. The Hawks were putting a team on the ice that was trying to win. But they screwed themselves.
    So this still sounds like sour grapes. So you're not coming off how you like, and I'm not a Blackhawk fan.

    The NHL lottery has sucked for a long time. The Wings have had the most losses in the league the past 7 seasons and have one top 5 pick to show for it. The NHL lottery is so GD stupid the league couldn't even be bothered to gather all the GMs in one F%$^ING city. It was a GD Zoom call.... Bettman needs to retire because of all this sh!t that has happened on his watch

    They only take away picks for CHEATING. The awful disgusting thing that happened has absolutely nothing to do with the game of hockey. They were punished, they were fined 2million, the GM stepped down and the coach got fired from that different team that called him a “stand up guy” so I understand why you’re upset, that creep went on to assault actual minors at a Highschool. The problem is that it was 2 grown men, even though Beach was young and the weirdo was in a position of power they were still both adults. They shouldn’t have waited as long as they did and they should’ve told the truth about that predator. We all agree on that. Taking away a pick for something that happened almost 13 years ago and has nothing to do with hockey makes zero sense. You’d be punishing the wrong people. I understand being upset that the hawks got Bedard but your selective outrage is confusing. Do you support Canada in the world juniors? They’ve had over 12 women paid bush money due to assault allegations. There are several other NHL teams that have similar allegations. It’s easy to forget about them and only fixate on Chicago because you hate them and they got the biggest player since McDavid. You keep saying they “didn’t do anything” the NHL chose to find them 2 million. Again, you can’t take away picks for something that happened off the ice. Check the rule book. Again, two grown men fooling around is a grey area. Do you trust the 20 year old saying he felt pressured or the older video coach? They chose to wait and prioritize the cup which helped them win which was great but it lead to some horrific stuff. You also don’t know weather the hawks have tried to help beach either, You have the same info all of us have. Again, not criminal. Morally wrong? Yes, but not criminal. It puts an asterisk next to the 2010 cup and Quenville will always be looked at as a liar and enabler along with the rest of the coaching staff. They were punished. They lost their careers. Oh and Bedard didn’t pull a lindros because there’s no reason to. He grew up hating the hawks rooting for Vancouver but still saw the value in going to an original 6 team that is going to build around him. You keep talking about legality when in reality nothing illegal happened. You also keep saying “if any other franchise did this they’d be punished worse” they have done it and will continue to do it. You just turn a blind eye towards it because you don’t hate those teams. Bedard may be a “villain” in your eyes but that’s just you man. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, to think an 18 year old is “public enemy #1” because he’s going to play for a team that did something shitty 13 years ago..? Or is it the more likely option? That you hate Chicago and are salty they got Bedard. Again, look up the other hockey teams and players that have done the same and worse. Stop the selective outrage. He’s not going to have a wasted career on an original 6 team with the best prospect pool in the league.

    My question is.... and I'm a biased blackhawks fan, so idgaf, but when would a hypothetical punishment end if the blackhawks got penalized. Cuz I do think they should have ben punished

    • @CrashAndrews
      @CrashAndrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      If contact circumvention and illegal scouting in the past cost 1 1st rounder, I can't imagine what committing a crime and covering it up within your organization should be.
      Hell, even the Clippers, as stated in the video, were forced to be sold due to their owner being a racist.
      But as your owner has said... "we're not looking backwards, we're looking forward" when questioned about the most disgusting act a team has ever pretended never happened.
      But this pick shouldn't have be available for the Blackhawks to be rewarded with, at the very least.

      @Crash Andrews what a joke. Never in history has a team been penalized for an action that did not rob the 31 other teams a fair opportunity at attaining "x" (whatever is In questioning) i.e. Is finding schemes to be over the salary cap, tampering, contract collusion, etc.
      Not an independent criminal act by an assistant video coach that affects a singular franchise and not the rest of the league.
      The accountability was everyone being fired, disgraced, and Rocky Wirtz giving the reins to his "forward thinking" son. A 2 million dollar fine, and a stain on the 2010 Cup win.
