    This man is part poet, part street preacher, part philosopher, and a grand student of life. A true self made man. Much respect.

    Cigarette Man has a PhD in LIFE. I'm an old white dude from Boston, about your age. I wish i grew up with you as a friend. I could have learned a lot from you, and maybe you could have learned from me. I love ya man. You got it all together, something most people never achieve in their entire lives. God Bless!

    • @JB-lo8eg
      @JB-lo8eg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I was homeless for 5 years, and also have been locked up. The wisest people I have ever met in my life have mostly been homeless people or convicts. The vast majority are not like this, many go crazy or turn into savages. But the few who don’t lose their mind mostly think and talk like this.
      When you are homeless in an urban environment for a long time it makes you hyper aware of the world around you an the world at large, you also become hyper aware of peoples intentions and agendas. You become a very hard person to fool because psychologically and emotionally you have to be hyper aware and in complete control of your emotions and aware of others emotions, and body language to survive. You obsessively study people, situations and life in general. Because living on the streets full time in a major city in the US is like living in an active war zone. The treachery is off the charts, and danger constantly looms. You witness a brutal side of life many people never see. It’s very similar to being in jail or prison tbh.

I thought you were weird especially the ones with the women sex workers. I thought your style of interviewing was trash. LOL. Then recently I watched an interview with you being interviewed where you said you were a Photographer who does Interviewer. Then I had more compassion. You are a Photographer. You let Cigarette Man Speak w/o interruption. This was special. He is a masterful story teller. And you have found diamonds in Skid Row. Well Done. We ought to meet each other one day LOL. I can’t believe all the life wisdom that comes out of these “homeless” people. After a couple weeks of binging on these, I’m glad I found your channel, Mark. I’m assembling packets to be ready to provide necessary items for any homeless person I come across. Sadly, I used to look away because I did not want to give money. That was a poor excuse for not helping. You can still help if you don’t want to give you money directly. At least now, I will be prepared to provide some thing whenever I come across a homeless in my area. ❤️

    When you mix raw intelligence from a degree in Hard Knocks and street life mixed with years of observations from many different places for many, many years you get a very unfocused but very real, very thought out tangent. From a man that if he were given an opportunity once in his life could have been anything he wanted to be. Mark you have done amazing work for so many people including myself (a recovering opiate addict 5 yrs sober) with this platform. These stories need to be heard, Most people have no idea the true extent of of the problem.

    I just wish I could buy all these people teeth, I was a TANF counselor - and I just know that most people had a hard time getting a job because they didn't have teeth. Once they got teeth? Wow... I saw a change... sigh... I wish I had a shitload of money to help..

    What this man says is mostly Common Sense and is Sad that So many people just don’t have. I myself think it is a gift. Many Blessings to you Mr. Cigarette Man.

    Man, I'm approaching my 27th birthday, and all of these interviews with Cigarette Man have been so enriching and eye-opening. He's like the OG and father I never had, to kick game to me about life. I spent my time on the streets here in Missouri while I was still in the throes of active addiction, and I always come back to these to remember exactly what's important, and remember how little my problems mean. My sober date is August 26th, 2019, and I haven't used heroin since then. God bless you, Brother Cig. Thank you for blessing us with these interviews. And thank you, Mark, for constantly helping me renew my faith in the human condition. I always revisit interviews of active addicts when I'm tempted to use, and it helps me put things back into perspective. Thank you for everything. -Alex.
