    Thank you sooo much for sharing this! I haven't even finished the video yet but I just started 3d sculpting and I wanted to preview my sculpt in one of those 3d printer softwares but every single time I imported my STL it would show up weirdly flipped.
    I'm sculpting a lizard and, following Zbrush's camera, he looks like he's perfectly fine and flat on the floor. When I export and import him to somewhere else he's suddenly standing up using the tip of his tail. So frustrating!!! I spent 3 hours this morning trying to figure the rotation out. I know I could just rotate it myself on the 3d print software but I want it to load perfectly aligned and ready to print, goddang it. And all the videos I watched on the topic had people rotating it after import... So much time wasted!
    Than you for the 90 degrees tip! Lizard looks perfectly fine now aside from the critical need of improvement modeling wise. lol

    One edit, If you're doing bases for Dnd 25mm or lower is the way to go. 28mm is slightly larger than an inch grid. Please keep this in mind :) cheers

    Hellow , in resin workflow is necessary to make solid mesh? your model is for pla? without not make it solid or inflate a little? thx

    • @AlexKolakowski
      @AlexKolakowski 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For printing in SLA or PLA, one solid mesh is optional. The slicers will not fail if meshes are inserted into one another.
      Combining the mesh into a solid piece is mainly for optimization, reducing file size and retaining details. With zero wasted surfaces, getting the most detail in under 750k points.
      I hope that helps!
      Thanks for watching.

      @@AlexKolakowski in my wflow I use to make solid as single mesh and printing in my PLA machine, however I shared a model with a friend who have a resin printer and works aswell, so I started to ask some stuff for improve my wflow, but I think I am ok for now. for miniatures to keep detail a good amount of poly arounds btw 700 K to 1 million?? thx :D

    Hello! I have a question for you, does the angle of view in zbrush affects the final look of the 3D printed sculpture? For example if I use a 28 angle of view... when I print it would it look more or less the way it looks in zbrush? Thank you

    • @AlexKolakowski
      @AlexKolakowski 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Angle of view only affects the camera. Most slicers are probably equivalent to an angle 85 or 50 in zbrush so I would leave it to default so you are not surprised by the print👍

    Is it important to cut your model into parts to sell it or can you sell it as one single mesh ?

    • @tigerskullrpg5092
      @tigerskullrpg5092  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I cut these parts just to make it easier to print on my FDM machine at the time. Not at all necessary to list an item. Most people prefer to have the character and base uploaded and supported for resin separately though.

    As a person into 3D printing miniatures, there's nothing I hate more than when artists attach a base to their characters

    • @TheBangBangg
      @TheBangBangg ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! I've been an 3D Artist for a couple years but just now decided to start making models for minuature as a hobby. I'm new to the 3D printing process and that's why I was watching this video. I've noticed that artists that make toys usually make them piece by piece and then they assemble it together. So would the process be similar in this case as well? You make the model and the base - and probably some plugs so they attach - and print them separately? If you can point me to any video or tutorial I would appraciate it. Thanks!

    Ok Question. I did everything you said and exported my model to have 31 mm of height.
    But when I import the model into a slicer it suddenly has 50 mm height.
    I can't fix it. Could you help?

    • @tigerskullrpg5092
      @tigerskullrpg5092  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah, remember to delete the .stl before saving over, I think that is a bug from zbrush, you might be re importing the same model into the slicer over and over....
      also, to validate, re import your .stl back into zbrush and click Update Size ratios in the 3d print hub and see what it says... if it changes to 50 mm you will have to re scale.
      Good Luck!

      Are you sure? Chitubox displays details differently, especially if you are using a mat cap with cavity in zbrush. You can always export the stl f on chitu and then import it back into zbrush to compare details. I haven't seen details dissappear but it might just look more subtle
