      High FIVE ✋💯
      Questions....
      What is actually time spraying ? OVER All time make 1 shirt
      The SODA ash is making the dye foamy looking? Thick?
      Seems like a like of ash ...
      Can you OLD SCHOOL IT SOAK THE SHIRT .?
      YOU THINK MASS PRODUCTION POSSIBLE ? ( SAY 10 IN 1 DAY )
      I HATE THEM SCISSORS 😂
      QUESTION...WASH OUT IS COLD WATER THAN HOT BECAUSE THE SHIRT IS ALREADY HOT YES ?
      LOOKING FORWARD in TRYING THIS METHOD 💯
      THANK YOU !

      @@crapshootcreations Yes, making multiples a day is possible depending on the fold. Spray time took 5 minutes. The recipe is from the guys that created the method, but if you want to change it to suit your needs, go for it. When you say old school, do you mean do liquid dye then use the hot water? Yes you can do that. For that you do 1/4 cup soda ash in 1 cup of 165° water and squirt it on. Cover it and batch it for a couple hours… I know you hate my scissors, but they are rounded for children. Cold water rinse because I let the shirt sit and it cooled down so the cold water is to get rid of the soda ash. I think this the link to the tutorial… th-cam.com/video/dOnVAKZT6-E/w-d-xo.html ❤️🌈

    Its also if you get spots they are on the inside of the shirt vs the out outside and you havent ruined a piece. In the 4 yrs Ive been doing this Ive NEVER flipped my pieces and not really had an issue. I appreciate you making these videas... you do a great job... they are simple to the point & easy to follow - you dont over complicate things @ all!!! Biffer does have his own group - Its called HWI Tie Dye! Kurt Wallace created in HWI in 1/2017 Biffer perfected it!

      100% satire, hence why I reference the previous tutorial. In my opinion whether the shirt is turned inside out or not the dye shows up on both sides. Dye wise it makes zero difference to my projects. I do, however, find seeing the stitching easier to center the project. Spirals I turn to manipulate the direction of the swirl. There is method to my madness, I promise. I hope I did justice to Kurt & Justin in this tutorial, I attempted to highlight their names and give credit where credit is due, and to the others using their techniques. I appreciate you watching these tutorials and leaving your feedback. ❤️🌈

    This was great!👍🏻 I have seen this shirt and video come up forever, but because WPI is something I have not done, and was not interested in trying, I never clicked. The irrigation bottle is identical to my Poison Ivy remover sprayer! I have recently watched three or more WPI videos, and the nozzle ad sprayer was way more sophisticated...and intimidating. When I saw your video I figured it might be possible in the future for me to try this type of tye dye. Your shirt is very nice and showed how pleats are such a big part of the design. Sometimes big pleats work well, and other times(more often)they don't. I suck at pleating. 😋 I don't sell my projects, I wear them, so I can suck and it is okay. 😁 Your narration adds details that are great - repressing Tulip dye bottles! I have a bag of them and didn't know what to do with them; I do now!👍🏻👍🏻

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo
      @BelladonnaDyesCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for all the kind comments. HWI is very doable.This pattern can also be done with liquid or ice dyeing. Yup, this is just a garden sprayer from Ace Hardware. Yes, Kurt Wallace’s set up is intimidating but he’s the one who invented the method so it makes sense. I’m using Justin Biffer’s method with my own spin, the dye bottles. You can do it! ❤️🌈

    I have the EXACT same issue trying to get the pattern correct on both sides, drives me crazy! :) Those squeeze bottles seem to have worked out really well, nice idea! FWIW, I use about 165 degree water, 180 is probably pushing some of that plastic to the limits lol. I did choose a sprayer with a brass nozzle and tube, dirt cheap one too.

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo
      @BelladonnaDyesCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it doesn’t need to be that hot. Since I was using Justin’s method I followed his instructions. When I do LWI I only go up to 165° I think this sprayer was $18. ❤️🌈

  • @MommyOfZoeAndLiam
    @MommyOfZoeAndLiam 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Turned out great. Couple thoughts/questions: how much power do you end up using compared to if you mixed the dye as normal? Is it more? Does it all soak in or are you left washing out any powder? Lastly, by putting it outside in the sun in a container it is heating up a lot anyway, so using boiling water is probably unnecessary. But I guess the point is that you don’t actually need to batch it because it is already hot?

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo
      @BelladonnaDyesCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used A LOT less dye. There is still enough to make another shirt. It all soaks in. The goal is to have 100% dissolved dye and soda ash. You still need to use at least 165° water to do this, otherwise you must batch it for 24 hours. Boil it, microwave it, however you choose to get extremely HOT water. There is no need to batch it, that’s the point of HWI. I did it because I was busy and waiting for other projects to finish so I could wash them at the same time. It doesn’t hurt it to batch it but it’s not necessary. I hope this helped answer your questions. ❤️🌈

    Turning it inside out also makes it so that if the dye makes spots then the spots are on the inside of the shirt not the outside

    Another reason for inside out is that if your “washable” marker doesn’t fully wash out for some reason, it is less likely to stain.

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo
      @BelladonnaDyesCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is that too, but I’ve had zero issues with the washable markers. I know Mr. Tie Dye explains that. I turn them inside out for numerous reasons, but in 100% honesty I’ve noticed zero difference either way. ❤️🌈

    I don't know about this for someone like you who has lots of projects going on at once. It seems like you spent a whole lot of time physically doing this when you could do it the regular way batch it and forget about it for a couple of days and move on. When it batches you can do lots of other stuff. With this...while it might be finished quicker you really cant multitask projects when you're committed to this technique. I like the result, but I would probably like finishing 3 in the time this one took. I can see wanting to try it once, but do you think you are going to really do this technique again anytime soon?

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo
      @BelladonnaDyesCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, Scott, it’s half a dozen of one and 6 of another. The boiling of the water was the most labor intensive part of the whole thing. I can see the value in this technique for sure. Instant gratification being one. It also used WAY less dye. I still have enough in the bottles for more shirts. I don’t dye dry… so for my stack of bone dry shirts this or ice dyeing are my options. Yeah, I can spray them down with SA, but it still doesn’t work great. I’m certainly not going to abandon traditional liquid dyeing for this method anytime soon. ❤️🌈

      So people say. I personally haven't noticed a difference either way. If have issue on one side, I have issue on both. I really use it for seam related uses. Most of that was satire over two tutorials. Thanks for your input.

    Kudos for calling yourself out. Methinks you dislike editing though, someone else might have shut down the camera gone and got the other garden sprayer, assembled it then went back into filming.

    The reason you turned the T-shirt inside out has nothing to do with the seems, it’s because if you make marks and they don’t come out or your die has clumps, they show up on the inside and not the outside of your project.

    • @BelladonnaDyesCo
      @BelladonnaDyesCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually is because of the seams, for me. Dye shows up on the inside and the outside because it’s dye. Thanks for taking your time to leave me a comment though. ❤️🌈
