If you have questions about the dye in the bottles watch this tutorial. Have fun tie dyeing!! ❤️🌈 Dye Recipe Tutorial: th-cam.com/video/xuI3Dvq19Fg/w-d-xo.html
Steph... Is it possible to dye a colored shirt? My neighbor is wanting to use shirts of different solid colors to dye with.. I have only seen you use white. Is there any of your tutorials that I can share with her on this subject? And this wiggy shirt looks awesome! Love the colors and the blends.
@@ms.j2309 Yes, you can dye any color shirt but keep in mind that the dye needs to be darker than the shirt to show up. Also, the base color of the shirt will skew the dye color. Choose 100% cotton for best results. I have a couple reverse dyes on black shirts, but no other colors. I’ve always thought a pastel pink would look pretty with some darker pinks and purples, or, a pastel yellow with some blues and greens. Have fun!! ❤️🌈
@@BelladonnaDyesCo ... Great to hear! Thank you! Bright blue shirt, yellow dye makes green design. Right? I think I'm on the right track. My neighbor will be happy.
@@ms.j2309 In theory yellow and blue make green but I’ve never dyed a blue shirt so I don’t know for sure. The yellow dye is lighter than the shirt… let me know how it turns out. I’m curious about this one. ☺️❤️🌈
What would happen if i did all the tying the day before the dyeing? We're tie dyeing in class for the end of the year tomorrow and due to limited time in class I wanted to focus my time on just the dyeing in class.
I love the color combinations on this. I actually like a little white show through on a shirt. It shows off the patterns and makes the colors really pop. Great job!
Thank you, Kristen. I agree with the white on some patterns… the one thing with these wigwags is they shouldn’t have white. Total saturation is the goal, but it’s tie dye. As long as we are having fun that’s all that matters. 😃❤️🌈
I love watching your HWI videos, something about seeing the water dissolve the dye and soak into the fabric is satisfying, and i love that you show yoir rinse out. I love watching the color rinse, its one of my favorite parts of the dying process. Thank you ❤❤
Oh really!! 🤔 Do tell more. Do you have a tutorial or information I can look up on this method? I’m always down to try new to me methods of dyeing things. 😎♥️🌈
Thanks, Angela!! I don’t understand why… I was looking through my pictures noticing that almost every single thing I’ve made with fuchsia has white. It’s so strange! 🤪❤️🌈
I think it turned out really good and it is a lot of work but if you need results right away this is the way to go and one thing I do I keep some warm water inside the sprayer to heat it up before I put in the hot water it seems to stay hot for a little bit longer thanks for sharing have a great day✌️
Thanks, Greg, I’m glad you like it. So, wait, what?? You mix your hot water with warm water to keep it hotter? That one has me scratching my head. I just pour the hot water into an empty sprayer and go to town. 🤓❤️🌈
@@BelladonnaDyesCo i’m sorry that was way confusing what I do is put warm water into the sprayer while I’m putting on the dye and this way it kind of warms up The container for the hot water pour out the warm water and add hot water it just seems to stay hotter longer. Too much work for me, but I like to watch you do it. I think your bottle method is genius. I watched you do it with the greens and that was an ice dye which I do like doing. 💙💙💙
I use the HWI mix of dry dye with ice too - works great! The dye flows SO much better in the confectionary spoons when you mix it this way too, far less clumping. Will try the little bottles :) I think the shirt came out fine, it's just a slightly different look is all
I used the mix when I ice dyed the green hoodie and it worked great! Are you talking about the sugar writer pens? I have one and I’ve never tried it. The bottles work very well. 😁❤️🌈

It’s a cool pattern and I’m going to make more but using the good old fashioned method. It’s not hard to do and the shirt is instantly done. HWI is better suited for the guys that do it all the time. 😉❤️🌈
How much of the not rinsed out dye ends up on the rubber parts of the washing machine if you do the first hot water cycle? And if , how do you get it off again? Washing whites in the same machine might dye the whites too, I imagine. Or do you have an extra dye related washing machine, where it does not matter.
Good question. I don’t believe in Dawn dish soap… I rinse my shirts out until the water is basically clear. The plain hot water cycle is to agitate the items more than my hands can. The second cycle with the textile detergent is to wash the shirts and remove any dye, if any. The third cycle with Milsoft pretty much is a final rise so to speak. I don’t have issue with my machine being stained… but if I do, I use bleach shower spray and wipe it and then wash a load of old towels before washing whites. The soda ash is gone after all of that so I haven’t wrecked anything yet. I hope this helps. ❤️🌈
@@BelladonnaDyesCo thanks, yes it helps. In Germany, so far, I uses only simplicol dye, and it leaves the light grey rubber of a front loader stained a bit, and pars of it do not come off with chlorine bleach or activated oxide either. So far, I was lucky and it did not interfere with whites.
@@NickUncommon That’s a bummer!! Mine is an older top loader style so the bin is all metal. I had to get rid of my front loader because it didn’t use enough water or agitate enough to wash many shirts at a time. ❤️🌈

I don’t think it does. I don’t think it will matter either way, but your dye will start to spread before you find applying it before the HWI. 🤷♀️❤️🌈

Tintes de proción reactivos con fibras. Los enlaces están en el cuadro de descripción de cada tutorial. ❤️🌈

Question- so what really is the difference or reason for doing HWI?
Speed. It can be done in a couple hours versus 24. So, if you’re in a rush this is a good method. ❤️🌈
Why the towel under the shirt ?
The theory is that it will draw the moisture down through the shirt rather than have the water and dye puddle up and run off the top. ❤️🌈
