In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to tie dye a wigwag using Dharma’s procion dyes in shades of blue.

That's such a good point about the size of the folds! I love how you share you fails and frustrations. Makes me feel normal! 😁💜
The pleats on the wig wags are important. Smaller pleats help with saturation and give a pleasing aesthetic. I share most everything I do, good, bad or ugly. The things I don’t share are when I totally blow it and could possibly teach a new person a really wrong technique. (in case that’s the only tutorial they ever see) 😎❤️🌈

Hi, Lisa. Yes the wig wags are time consuming for sure. I think many of us feel disappointed from time to time because with tie dye we have a vision in our minds of what it’s going to be but as we both know there isn’t 100% control. That’s the fun of it really. I see the ripple. 💧❤️🌈

I don’t know that I’ve seen a wigwag in shades of the same color, usually they’re contrasting. This looks like ripples on a lake and I think it’s really cool.
Those tiny pleats 😮 you’ve got my respect. I’ve done a few wig wag type ties and they’re not really what I enjoy.

Im totally about to show that I'm the new kid in class.. I've seen several of your videos lately, but I didn't catch that when you are getting started, you're centering everything, lining it all up.. I can see the importance, but never knew that's how it was done, I figured you've done a few, at the very least lol, and just had that good of an eye lol.. Which I'm sure is true too.. 😊
Almost all of the folds start by “centering” the shirt. “The sleeve inside the sleeve” technique. I have a quick tutorial on it, it’s not the greatest but it’s a bit easier to follow than my quick beginning of each tutorial. I hope this helps, Brandi. 😊❤️🌈

Thank you so much for this incredible video! I have lost count of how many times I have watched, trying to learn the process for a Wigwag! I LOVE what you have done here! Ok, so it’s not a perfect circle; so what?!? It is BEAUTIFUL! If mine is a so-called “failure” like yours, I’ll be doing the Snoopy happy dance all over the neighborhood! (Am I showing my age yet?) Heh
I have tied, untied, and re-tied my shirt; marked and re-marked it (I do wish there were clear instructions somewhere-ANYwhere on the internet on how/where/why to make precise zigzag markings); and after days of agonizing over best ways to “truss” it up; choosing the dye colors my husband wanted (oh yeah-this shirt is for him); getting the folds just right, and keeping the shirt from drying out, tonight I will finally reach the point of no return: the dyeing part. After all is said and done, if the shirt turns out nice, will I be able to part with it? If I do, my sweet husband might let me borrow it to use as a night shirt once in awhile. 😌
Drumroll please… To the dye! No turning back now!

I chickened out when I realized I was not fully prepared (not having a respirator for dealing with the soda ash [too late] and all the powdered dyes) for the job at hand. It is very unlike me to start a project without having all the necessary materials. I don’t know WHAT I was thinking! Anyway, the respirator arrived today (Thank you, Amazon!)

I like just the blues they blend nicely you can’t even tell that you oversaturated if there were other colors I think it might’ve showed up I think I oversaturated everything I don’t get too much weight even when I’m trying to have a great day

It’s hard not to be critical sometimes, but we should try not to be. Most projects I’m fine with… it’s these darn wig wags that really frustrate me. I think it’s because they are so darn time consuming. 🤪❤️🌈
Off topic, but… Is it possible to do an ice incline dye with a spriral. Something where the spiraled shirt is on or in a cone/funnel?
I’ve never tried anything like that. Of course you can do it. I would fear the center becoming a muddy mess. Try it and let me know how it turns out. Otherwise, yes you can spiral up a shirt and set it on an incline. ❤️🌈
It looks like your garment is dry in the beginning. Do you ever work with damp cloth for folding? I find it helps to get finer/more detail in pleats, etc. But it's much harder for folding the sleeve inside sleeve.

Ok...I am going out on a limb to guess you are a Virgo or a Libra because of the perfectionist part. Every time I do these wig wags they always pop up in the middle as I am trying to do them. Are your shirts still damp when you do your folds? I kind of like the cosmic vibe this shirt has. I think it wouldn't have looked as good exactly round. I also have a channel suggestion...since you are adding about 100 subs a week...how about a TH-cam Live Q & A when you hit 10,000!!!! (if you stay on current pace that might be in a couple of months)

Are you asking why it’s inside out? It makes it easier to line up the seams for centering it. ❤️🌈

Gildan shirts suck!
