Being 24 with a herniated disc as a dancer and yoga instructor has been really hard on me unfortunately I was hit by a car on my bike and now my life has been changed I hope everyone can find some healing with their discs I still try to exercise everyday but man does it hurt after doing anything.

This video was very informative. I was able to follow along and reference my MRI results. This helped me understand that what I have is a disc extrusion, and that it is a 70 percent chance of it healing without surgery. I feel much more hopeful and informed. Thank you.
I wish you both all the success in every category that can mention in this life because i was suffering and stressed out because of this herniated disc but your advices giving me hope. God bless you BOB and BRAD
I suffered a bulge 13 years ago that took almost one and half years, now two months ago I experienced disc extrusion and that's painful like hell you can't move your head or hand because of pain. After MRI I met doc and he told about surgery I was in shock, then I met a therapist and told him about the case he assured me it will be done without surgery. Now after 1 & half month alhamdulillah I am walking sitting and I feel 70-75 % better than before. Here I would like to tell everyone that even you are going with surgery your 70% problem will not be solved without therapy.

I too had sciatic pain for the past three months, even single day it seemed like the pain level was the same until i started doing some exercises that are on this channel, and I also switched to sleeping on the floor with minimal cushioning and I can tell you today, it’s been four days, I haven’t had a challenging sciatic pain in those four days. It feels great. Thank you Bob and Brad.

I had a herniated disc with nerve damage to the c6-c7 root with severe tricep weakness. Most would have had surgery but my ortho provider PA for some reason said wait and see. I went to PT and the pain went away with radial nerve glides and other exercises and now the pain is gone and my strength is almost back to normal. Good luck!

I had a major bout with it this evening after and before the end of the work day. I looked up things to do to help with it and you guys video came up. I have to say I am impressed with the knowledge I have gained and i am feeling less pain now after doing some of the excersises that you have shown in your videos. I have a protrusion and it compresses the spinal canal. The doctors told me there is no chance it would go away even though the pain almost completely disappeared after 8 weeks. I feel like I am kind of disabled for life because any wrong movement could inflame the nerve again. This was so informative. I was injured in 2013 as a CNA. I Have 3 bulging discs and 4 protrusions, all in my C-spine. I went to the physical therapy which made it worse but the chiro definitely helped 3x a week for months on end. Now I cant afford it and I go to PM. My back is better since February couldn't move 2 weeks still have sensory loss lateral leg dorsum foot and hip flexor weakness will my strength or sensation come back or shall I see a doctor for intervention possibly. How would this be treated not having surgery
Hi Bob & Brad I've had chronic pain in the middle of my lumbar, out to my right butt, down the back of the right hamstring, and into my right foot. Everything since May 2022. I start to worry if I'll ever get back to feeling pain-free. I have 2x disc bulges, degenerative changes, and an annular fissure from an MRI I got in September as pain didn't get better... Annular fissure to the right in my L5-S1 disc. The pain came as I did a heavy set on deadlifts and suddenly felt a sharp pain. Been in pain ever since... I've tried chiropractic care, and have also done physiotherapy. Both without luck. Also have done core strengthening and McKenzie press ups. No luck there either. I'm about to give up on life, but I REALLY DON'T WANT to get surgery. I don't have bowel problems so my doctor says she won't even considerate surgery, as it's only done on people who have bowel problems, like holding urine in, etc. Cheers from Denmark
Have you been consistent with spine hygiene and getting away from the lifestyle that caused the issues in the first place? Try Core Balance Training by Dr.Ryan Peebles, it’s fantastic. About 2 years ago I did an mri of my lumbar, the results were: A grade 1 retrolisthesis of L5 on S1 Modic type II, large inferiorly extruded central to right paracentral disc protrusion with near-complete obliteration of the spinal canal at the L5-S1 in part aggravated by ligamentum flavum hypertrophy at the inferior endplate L5 level, L5-S1 severe central spinal stenosis at the superior endplate to the midportion of S1, there was additional severe spinal stenosis. There was deformity of the thecal site displaced posteriorly towards the left with moderate right and severe left foraminal narrowing with impingement of the exiting left L5 nerve root. The overall size of the large disc herniation was 2.9 cm x 1.4cm AP x 1.7cm transverse. Two rounds of PT and a lumbar discectomy later (1yr 3mo post-op) and I get another mri: L5-S1, there is disc bulge with central disc extrusion with minimal caudal migration. Mild central canal stenosis with moderate left neural foraminal stenosis. So while the surgery did improve things, it didn't end up being what my surgeon promised me. I want to make sense of what can be done now, I'm getting a lumbar facet injection, I need to get straight talk on this, my options are limited at present(insurance) so a second opinion is out. I need to know so I can advocate for my health properly. Please Bob and Brad, help me understand can I get rid of the nerve pain, can this heal? Will I need surgery again? HELP!
Avoid surgery. I had 2...and 15 years later get episodes once a year that takes a month or 2 to become tolerable. Watch Dr Bergman videos and you will see the big picture.

Hi doctors, I have L5-S1 disc protrusion measured 10x18mm. It started acting out in summer 2020. This caused sciatic pain and consequently impacted my ability to walk, stand and sit. I’ve had 3 epidurals since then. I’m doing the exercises and listening to my body. What’s strange is that when I bend forward it feels way better. Also, I’m able to pull myself up on my toes with no problem and walk on my heels. I don’t really have pain in my lower back much but the back of my leg hurts and I still have radiating cold, tingling, burning etc sensations going down to my toes. All doctors say different things and it makes me confused and frustrated. I’ve had an X-ray of my hips and leg discrepancy too - orthopedic surgeon said my bones are good. I just don’t understand anything anymore. Does it all sound like my herniation is gone/reduced, and is this just leftover pain that can fix by strengthening my muscles? But then why do I still have radiating pain down the leg and to the toes? What do I do? Thank you for everything you’re doing. Your channel gives me more hope and information than any doctor of mine.

@@iak1942 Hi, I’m very sorry to hear about your pain! However, be optimistic, if I was able to fix myself there’s a good chance you’ll be able too! I’ve had an enormous amount of physical therapy and yoga (listen to your body and be careful), 4 steroid epidural injections, plenty of medications, chiropractic adjustments and Accupuncture - that’s in US. More recently in Germany, I’ve had cortisone+Vitamine B infusions, blockade shots and laser treatments. But honestly nothing worked as good as work on my mind and my emotions. As you can see from my previous comments, I’ve read several books of dr Sarno + dr Dispensa, and watched many videos on the connection of mind and body. And, it’ll sound miraculous, but I really started improving only after I became aware of my repressed emotions, I felt them so deeply, cried a lot, worked through them and continue doing so, and it made me me again. What medical professionals weren’t able to fix in almost 2 years, I fixed in 2 weeks. I live normally now as if nothing ever happened. When you read “Healing your back pain” and “MindBody Prescription” by Dr Sarno - you’ll see if that’s the case for you. I wish you to get better as soon as possible. No one deserves the pain and literally the torture we’re going through. The most important thing is to know that over 80% people on the planet have issues almost like ours but only a very small percentage have terrible pain for a long time. So be positive and work on your mind in addition to everything you do for your body.

What do you all think about epidural injections? Just to lower pain and give it time to heal. I have had two injections over the course of 10 yrs and it has completely removed pain. Some numbness is always there. But I can live with that
Am I understanding it correctly does that mean the worse it gets the higher chance it has to fully ecovered???? Or it’s the percentage of going back to the better stage?
If it is getting worse or better by day than it will heal eventually and If it’s stuck at a certain pain level for a while than it most likely will need surgery

I've had chronic pain in the middle of my lumbar, out to my right butt, down the back of the right hamstring, and into my right foot.

Mild central canal stenosis with moderate left neural foraminal
stenosis. HELP!

@@evgeniyab7567 did you get a MRI again to see the improvement??
😂😂 This is how school should've been man. Thanks, prayers to everyone healing.
3:50 HOPE "60% to 90% of lumbar disc herniations can be successfully treated with a conservative approach" ... in other words no surgery
I have had a bulging disc from my 20 and am 49 now. I hurt all the time. I have had PT and MRI and shots and all over the years with not getting any better. I hurt 24-7 am now taking medication again and it's not helping. It's touching a nerve in Lower back L4 L5 and S1
@5:12 interesting images of stages
Thanks Bob and Brad I have a disc herniation generation
I'm pretty sure I won't need surgery
What are your thoughts on the matter l5s1
I have three herniated disc my L3 is a protrusion and L4,L5 with a herniated disc which is causing nerve pain. I am going to physical therapy and I am hoping I heal without having surgery so I can return to working out!
Thank you for this video, it has given me hope! 🙏🏼😊
Did it help?
@@mihaelh6783
Unfortunately it did not! I’m going back to physical therapy. On a plus side I am not worse!
@@stephaniealvarado3652 Sad, same thing with me, at 20years old. Trying physical therapy before discsectomy... Hope you get better
@@mihaelh6783 I’m so sorry!! The PT should help. Hang in there! I’ll keep you in my prayers

Ok I’m extremely confused Thank you so much for this video
You guys are amazing! I have an extruded/sequestered disc and you give me hope .. Thank you so much for your videos :)
Have you guys heard of the DiscSeel procedure?
So what do you suggest people with disk prolapse..? I m going into depression after watching this video...
Thanks so much for all your awesome tips. Yes you can heal discs, there are holistics and homeopathic injections under the skin, called PRP or traumeel injections. I have a hand strain sprain from work, a very painful trigger thumb. I.just had some PRP done and started to have less pain and more flexibility. It can also be done on the spine!!! 🤞🌺🌺🌹.
But they didn’t say what the PT treatment is. Hmmm
Thanks for the info; what about when it's 2 levels?
I hope they’re giving away non herniated disc real soon😂
What do you all think about epidural injections? Just to lower pain and give it time to heal. I have had two injections over the course of 10 yrs and it has completely removed pain. Some numbness is always there. But I can live with that
Am I understanding it correctly does that mean the worse it gets the higher chance it has to fully ecovered???? Or it’s the percentage of going back to the better stage?
If it is getting worse or better by day than it will heal eventually and If it’s stuck at a certain pain level for a while than it most likely will need surgery
Personally, however important the teachings of this particular message; just wanted to hear the Intro 😀
Awesome!
Impression: Large posterior annular tear with disc protrusion at L5-S1 level without any significant secondary neural and spinal compromise.
Mine did took about 18 months though, tear had healed and disc had retracted. Try an osteopath
@@thecolonel79 Since you have the experience now, are there any do’s and don’ts that you can suggest? How can the recovery be faster?
@@HasanSaleem for me it was exercise and rest, I found rotating hot and cold packs helped the pain. Listen to your body don’t exercise to much but you need to move.
I found those yoga balls quite useful too.
Any update good sir?
@@thecolonel79 Your comment has given me hope. I have the same problem and have been dealing with this since July 2022. Didn't find out, until mid December 2022, that my pelvic pain was coming from my L5 - SI. It is definitely better now but not 100%. I still have low back pain but my pelvic pain is gone and most of the sciatic pain is gone.
So if your disk don't have too much damage, Can it heal completel? I have a bad flare up of sciatic nerve, right now I cannot walk too much. I had real bad pain for 2 weeks but it has calm down a bit. Should I get Chiro care or Physical Therapy and massage. I am confused by all the videos I have seen on YT.
Stay away from chiropractors at all cost, physical therapy and maintenance is key.
@@dragonrider9051 Thankyou very much!
I had 3 cervical discs pushing on my spinal cord, my arm was weak and numb. Are you saying eventually I might have healed on my own? I had a 3 level fusion. My c3-c4 was herniated but wasn't pressing on the cord. The herniation is abutting the cord and hasn't moved in many years. I wish it would heal.
Ahhh I'm hoping you got better!!
So the ones with a bulging disc are the worst off? I didn’t quite understand this.
Any info on a popping lower back? I can flex my abs and it seems to “pop my lower back into place”. I also get a good decompression pop a few times a day hanging from a pull-up bar.
i have L4 L5 S1 ,,for years i tryed everthing my kneee didnt even reflex ,,by the doc,,
I'm 31, I get diagnosed with a lumbar herniated disc 10 months ago, I just took the medicine my doctor gave me for the pain for two months. After that I had just a little numb sensation on the leg (sometimes). Now I am having the same pain from 10 months ago, and I wonder if I should just take more medicine or get a surgery?? What's your best opinion doc's?
What medicine did he give you ?
@@cindyhernandez9979 Tramadol 150mg has been a godsend for me. I have had a herniated disk for over 10 years.
I understand how a herniated disc heal with the body absorbing the nucleus pulpus but what does the body do with bulging disc ? I'm 16 and have sciatica

Very glad I watched this guys, thanks! My L3 lumbar disc is sequestrated so I'm hoping I'm in the 96% not the 4%...! Opposite logic to when I'm buying lottery ticket, of course!
How are you today??
My L3 has an extrusion. It is do painful. I’ve started physical therapy but it’s worse today than two days ago. I’ve had my L4&L5 fused. How likely is it that the extrusion will heal?
this has taken away all hope from me. i’ve never ever had back issues until a friend pushed down on my back as a joke. i have two disc bulges now, both nerve impinging (lateral recess). it’s the injury that caused this. i have nerve pain because of it. if i’m healthy, do gentle exercise and avoid bad movements etc why shouldn’t my disk bulge go back into place? it’s soft tissue??????
So this vid has taken all hope from you when they are telling you there is a 60-90% recovery rate? Your comment makes no sense
@@MsPopo81 i think sugaplumalex is referring to the 13% chance of healing for disc bulge that bob and brad mention in the video.
Im pretty much in the same boat. I was under the impression disc bulges are the least severe as opposed to herniations and extrusions. This video has taken made me pretty hopeless as well
I have L4-L5 disc bulge and L5-S1 bulge feeling pretty bad after this video
How are you now?? I hope you are doing well 🙂
I don't know what kind I had, but it was so bad I lost the use of my right leg and had foot drop. And I had never been in so much pain in my life. The doctor said if I hadn't had the surgery when I did, I would have spent the rest of my life in a wheelchair.
Very sorry to hear that
How are you now after surgery
@@SanjaySingh-qt3rm well, I've managed to stay out of a wheelchair for the past 26 years.....at least for that. I've had other untelated health issues that took me off my feet, and I have had other back surgeries, but again, unrelated.

How are you now? Did you have headaches as well?
Got a question for Bob or Brad. I have been having lower back issues mostly on left side. But it does go to the right side and then eventually both sides. I also have twitching in my calves constantly. I have been doing home PT and exercise. I am also not much overweight and I am active. I have gotten an MRI and also X-rays, they do not recommend surgery at this time. Have you seen this and what do you recommend anything?
L4-5. there is a small left foraminal disc protrusion superimposed upon a diffuse disc annular bulge with mild facet arthropathy and endplate spurring. Mild left foraminal narrowing results. The central canal and right neural foramen appear patent.
That’s my MRI I have my big toe and big toe areas numb sometimes does it need surgery or it could heal by itself?
Recovering from a (incomplete) Cadua Equina Syndrome now 6 weeks after surgery of a sequestred big L4/L5 disc hernia.. The bowel and blatter area was affected but not terminal damaged so it's ok (but still a little numb), and the right calf and foot is still kind of numb and so, but improves.. Walking quite ok with a crutch for support (mostly at home without), so it's getting better.. I guess I was lucky to get help in time. ;) But please do a video of that important injury.. !
So your sequestred disc caused Cadua Equina? I thought Bob and Brad said it would heal better sequestred disc.
How long from your herniated disc did it take for Cadua Equina to happen?
