- The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 continues on with the same look except for a refresh at the tail end of the business. Under the hood is the LT4 Supercharged V8 pumping out 650 HP & mated to a Tremec 6-speed gearbox. On the inside there are a ton of options including Recarro seats, sude steering wheel and shifter, and great tech. Even with the blind spots of the Camaro, is the 2019 Camaro ZL1 the best for muscle car daily driving?

I’ve done 31,000 miles and 12 track days across 3 states in my ZL1. What I really enjoy about my non 1LE is its daily drivable and a track weapon. I’m within .6 seconds of the 1LEs at AutoClub Speedway. After 10 years of Lexus this car is everything I wanted!! 🏁❤️🇺🇸

I'm a Mustang guy, but boy I gotta give it to Chevy. This 19 ZL1 looks awesome. As much as I love the new GT500, I would seriously consider trading my 19 GT for this ZL1, because I think it's going to be a huge bang for the buck and without the markup that dealers will be adding on top of the GT500's MSRP.

Wow! It's a great looking car but at $65,000 I will have to put it on my growing list of cars that I'd like to have but can't afford.
You can find it for cheaper. Got my zl1 new at $58k before tax. It's still a lot of money but when considering what you get, $58k is a bargain.
It sounds like you got a very good deal on your car and it's definitely one I'd love to own!

Touring mode is smooth enough to keep my 3 month old asleep in the rear seats. I’d say it’s a pretty good daily driver.

I own a ZL1 and love it. I actually don’t mind the small dead pedal. Doesn’t get in the way while pushing the clutch. I think it is smaller on purpose. Also, the rev match paddles are great - I’ve pounded my car and never have come close to accidentally hitting them. Appreciate the review!

The Alcântara doesn’t wear bad it gets dirty and greasy . If u use a special cleaner and a brush and a towel it comes back to new . There’s a TH-cam video on how to care for it. I love this video . I love this car . I got my 6spd in radiant, red tin coat with the exposed carbon fiber hood. It’s beautiful it’s going in the garage.

My '94 and '99 were hard to see out of too! After a day or two you get used to it! And I agree with the hard plastic on the dash! Other than that I love 6 Gen Camaros!!

Yes it is! I picked up a 2019 Zl1 a few months ago. Black Mosaic Metallic paint and the trims blend in very well in black. Options I got were Performance Data recorder, 10-speed, carbon fiber hood/inserts, and no sunroof (Bubble roof like in this review looks much better). 65k, and when you consider it has the same engine as the Z06, can't get the 10-speed in the Z06, and you get extra room, awesome looks/front end, superb handling for a lot less. Bottom Line - It's a wicked deal and a wicked street car no matter what color or options you get!

@@RaitisRidesGood review brother. Few things I wanted to add. The visibility is fine out the front and side windows, but lacking from the 3/4 panel and rear. However there are several things that Chevy added to make it better and with them I really have no issues. 1) Blind spot mirrors that light up when another car is next to you. 2) When in reverse the side view mirrors tilt to the ground automatically to help with curb and side view. 3) Seat can be adjusted to ride higher which helps overall view. 4) Rear view mirror can be toggled for a full rear camera view when driving. 5) Backup Camera with safety lines when reversing 6) Front collision alert (Not available if your have the PDR) but the lights flash on when too close to object. With all that most people should be fine, and be able to find a decent compromise. This is a sports/muscle car and not an SUV...
@@RaitisRides I also have to add in case others are thinking about this car. The auto-10 is excellent. I come from driving manuals all my life (Integra Type-R, STi, Supra) and this auto is one of the absolute best on the market today. Better than the 8-speed in the Vettes, better than the GTRs, better than Porsche PDK. It's perfectly calibrated to the ZL1s engine/torque and is substantially faster than the manual trans. This transmission is the great equalizer. The 2019 ZL1-ILE option with the auto is going to get improved track times and will murder super cars.

Been driving a Camaro since 2017. Own a 2018 Zl1 now. Visibility you get used to it. Love my Zl1. It’s Apple and Oranges between the 2SS and ZL1.
Love it . Ordered one today . Radiant red tintcoat ZL1 w/ a 6 speed . Chose it over the corvette . You won’t be able to get these anymore but you can get a corvette for a while longer with a V8 . Mine will be a 2024 . Your reviews are great 👍
Great nuggets of information about the aluminum hats helping heat dissipation and quickening up steering, and the “showroom stock” racing info. Hilarious the way you went with the car alarm interruption. For a family guy it’s a no go because my girls like to go on “no mommy run drives”. Even compared to a Mustang, those back seats only work if my kids have no legs. Thank God they have all their limbs. Great job... as always.

I have a 2020 Camaro ZL1 1LE and I daily drive it. I have no problem with the stiff suspension. I talk more about what it takes to buy this car. I talk about the price of insurance etc

Driving a 14’ m5 comp pkg with 575hp factory and easily flash tuned to over 625hp. Solid car with excellent fit n finish but ready for something new. I have my eye on the zl1 and hellcats. The zl1 is a performance work of art for the price. On a side note do they break in these motors at the factory? I know the hellcat motors are. The wider wheels are an upgrade from a standard hellcat. The widebody hellcats make sense. Nice review bro.

Beautiful car. Thank you for the video. I have a 19 zl1 1le for a track car. It wouldn’t make much of a daily driver. Most people would be far better served by the zl1.
I was thinking about getting one cause they are about 10,000 off at rick hendrick chevy . I haven't driven one yet. Why wouldn't you recommend daily driving?
The spool valve suspension is a marvel, but quite harsh compared to the mag suspension on the regular. The tires that come on the 1le are completely inappropriate for normal driving. They’re track tires and I’m not sure how they got dot approval. The high cf wing will make you smile every time, but it cuts a lot out of your rear view mirror. Aside from that the car is pure love. If you can get a screaming deal like that and you immediately bought a different set of wheels/tires for normal driving it would do fine. It’ll never be comfortable, though.

All cars like the R and WRX are balance cars, they're dad cars with a little extra power. But for 40K you can get a muscle car with 1-2 of the big upgrade packages and fly by an R like it was standing still.
I'll always be a Mustang guy, but this car is freakin' sexy.

The Zl1 also has wider front fenders! plus that supercharger is actually smaller than previous generations at 1.7L vs 1.9L in the LSA motor

Great car. Would have bought one, but they were not available in 2016 when I bought my Z06. Love my Z06, but the ZL1 is a lot cheaper. It’s got the same engine and is almost as fast as the Z06. Not heat soak issues either😡.

I still have my 1970 1/2 RS Z28 camaro the main thing i like is the tight steering boxes in the Z28 i noticed as you were taking those turns the ZL1 is still true to form very few turns lock to lock great test drive looks like a great daily driver love that manual trans.

Debuted at 2006 Detroit auto show, preorders Oct 2008, production April 2009 with deliveries May 2009 as a 2010. Lol I was one of those deliveries.

Fantastic looking car,but after a while you may need to replace some of the Alcantara bits,Leather is more practical,keep up the great reviews.
2010 ctsv 34k used 6spd. Intake, headers back, high flow cats, driver mod, and tune 564hp 524tq to make up for the 0 to 60. 4 doors for versatility and head room. 16mpg over 20k miles. Ride comfort and sport. Had an auto it was definitely faster shifting but compared to the stick with a good driver auto is no need. Mods make up for it. My 09auto 34k used was lower pulley and intake 534hp 505tq. Wagon stick would be the best car in my opinion only needa better nav system. This camaro has no head room at 6 3 its a no go on most coupes.

I know there is a lot of tech on the car but the thing I love the most is it has good struts so uncommon today
I’ve driven both and while I highly prefer the GT350 between the two, if I’m spending my money I’m going for the manual ZL1. You have to get the rpm’s up on the GT350 to make it sing/dance. The immediate power of the ZL1 is addictive 🤣🤣🤣
Another great review man. Say you got 65 large to spend on a toy, would you get the torque of the ZL1 or the high revving GT350? Doris on Woman Drive, owns and tracks both of these cars and I think she likes the torque of the ZL1 a bit more. How about you?

Nice car and very good review. A few things I wish GM offered for the ZL1: Adjustable lumbar seat support, option of Alcantara or leather for where it has alcantara only, option of leather upper dash. And I prefer the 17-18 MY tail lights. Still a great car though!

@@cobras559 To be honest I had more fun driving my 13 Boss 302. It wasnt as fast as the ZL1 but it had more of a personality than the ZL1 and it sounded better too. Where the Zl1 really shined was the power and handling but you get use to he power and after a while 650hp doesn't seem all that fast anymore.

Misspelled Charger Scat Pack. 40k for almost 500hp, 4 doors and a 4 cylinder mode to get good mileage when you just want to travel or commute normally.
@@Shadow-lq7rx Why do you need a track ready daily? With proper tires you can through around a scat all day on the street. This isnt about the best track car. Its about the best daily. A 60k car really shouldn't even be a starting point.
