The base Leupold platform for this scope is either a VX-1 or VX-2 depending on what you read. Not sure because I never called Leupold to ask. But to me it doesn’t matter. It’s a Leupold. All that I cared about is that it was a high gloss scope to match my rifle. Plus I love the Long Range duplex reticle crosshairs. I have it zeroed for 200 yards and with my .270 win I can supposedly get out to 500 yards reliably. But I haven’t tried it past 200 yet. Honestly I haven’t shot it since last deer season here in CA but that’s because I’m not happy with this Nosler lead free expansion tip ammo and haven’t been able to locate any TTSX locally since I have to pass a background check to buy ammo in CA and no online sellers will even sell to CA because it’s not worth the trouble. One of these days I will be able to afford to take it out and find out what it really can do. But I’m still poor after buying this rifle and scope. Lol
I found after allot of frustration with rifles going hair brain unpredictable accuracy it was the 2-piece scope mount bases causing the problems. The 3 rifles giving me problems had the bases changed to 1-piece picatinny rail scope ring bases then it solves all the problems with shots flying all over the targets. If you also have this problem, go to the 1-piece picatinny rail system. When Winchester was producing these rifles, I really liked handling one to look how beautiful they looked. I am thinking of Boyde's stocks doing me a 50% maple stock for my Weatherby V 5 and have the deer scaled pattern checkering done on the Parrie hunter model stock and because I am a smaller man, I like the 13 1/2 pull butt stock. I just had a Boyde's stock done for my 300 WBY mag in a custom Mauser 98 using the Parrie hunter stock and the deer scaled checkering with the Orange + gray laminated wood and it is so cool looking.
I’m real careful with it. Deer season just opened last Saturday here and this is the 3rd season I’ve used it. So far no major scratches. But I know that day will come.
Maple is an incredibly strong wood, more so than walnut. You would have to try and deliberately scratch it in order to do so. Under normal hunting environments you should be ok, so long the rifle is not being dragged around.

But at this price I would probably wait till the next one comes along. You can set up eBay to search for you. Which is what I did. It’s searches automatically ever 24 hrs. And sends me a notification when a new one is listed. That’s how I knew about this one. You just got to decide how much you want it. But I really doubt anybody would ever be disappointed with this scope. Sorry so long.
Search Leupold Century Limited Edition there is another used one that is listed in the last 24 hrs. It’s at $225 but it’s used and no box or gift tin or knife and medallion. But it’s the same scope if that is all you want.
That new one has the same scope covers I just got for my scope. Those are $100 right there so that’s a pretty good set up.
Regarding the scope covers I mean the newly listed used one on eBay. Not the one that’s new in the box.
@@fungdart I’ve been watching for a while now for a scope for my 243 super grade, and your video turned me on to this particular scope. I agree the price for the new one is out of hand. I’m assuming the used one will too. It’s actually the same seller! Very clever of them! The used comes with rings, but it looks like it would need a different scope mount than you used. I’m still learning all of this stuff. What cleaning stuff do you recommend?
Did you lap the scope rings when you installed or use locktite on the bolts?
Not sure what you mean by lap. They didn’t use Locktite. The gun dealer that I had it delivered to bore-sighted the scope. No Locktite. I still haven’t finished dialing it in. I got it good enough for deer season and haven’t shot it since late October. Those are Weaver scope rings on that used one on eBay. I need to sight mine in better. I know it will shoot way better groups. But this all copper ammo we are forced to use in California if real finicky. It takes time to get it perfect. I’m trying to find Barnes TTSX but can’t find any locally. Because now in California we can’t buy ammo online. We are forced to go through a gun dealer to buy ammo now. I hate living in California. Can’t wait to move.
@@fungdart Wow, a dealer for ammo! Crazy. When they lap they use a compound to wear the inside of the scope rings with a special tool. Im not sure this step is necessary with the style rings and integrates mount you are using. I could be wrong though.
@@fungdart Too see lapping done, Check out the video “How to properly mount a scope presented by Larry Potterfield” Its a midwayusa video on youtube.
@@anonymous_friend I’ll check it out. Never heard of lapping before. It’s new to me.
@@anonymous_friend this is the case I keep my Model 70 in.

Fine rifle, but way out of this Wyoming boy’s price range. I’ll make do with my Ruger MkII .270.
My first scoped hunting rifle was a Ruger M77 .270. Got it when I was 14 and sold it when I was down and out and needed money about 20 years ago. Regretted it ever since. I loved that rifle. Yep this one wasn’t cheap. But I wanted a fancy one that would become a family heirloom hopefully.
What do. Want for it
Sorry. Not for sale. This is intended to be the last hunting rifle I ever buy. Something that will be passed down to my son. That’s why I dropped $2100 plus tax and fees on a rifle and scope. To get a wall hanger. Something that will be a family heirloom.
They can go on about their over priced Remington 700 clones, nothing matches a model 70 Winchester for beauty and function
I want this rifle so bad where can I find one 😭😭
I got it on Gunbroker. They aren’t cheap.
@@fungdart man for that thing I’ll pay the price like 1500 right?
@@jaylinholmes3453 I paid $1600 for the rifle and $500 for the scope. Plus tax and shipping. Altogether it was around $2400 after buying scope covers.
@@fungdart I did some looking and all they got it in is 6.5 and I don’t want that so imma just wait to see if one pop up in 270 again if you see one anywhere can you let me know please and thank you
@@jaylinholmes3453 on will show up. Just keep checking Gunbroker. I’ll keep an eye out too. There were several over the summer when I bought mine.
its super sexy
How do you like the scope?
I love it.
Lol
What gun range is that
I found after allot of frustration with rifles going hair brain unpredictable accuracy it was the 2-piece scope mount bases causing the problems.
I would be afraid that it gets scratched if I take it into the woods.
Why its a rifle, its meant to be scratched.
Nvm I see Ukiah
