Don't listen to these guys there selling a money pit, I have the 24 450x and the air filter sealing is fine, suspension is perfect out of the box for 180lbs, just put a full system on it and do a tune with the app on your phone. I race mine in Australia and it's perfect with minimal money spent. Those Vortex ECU's are overrated, anyone that tells you that you can feel a big power difference is full of it.
Whoa..waterpump seal at 14hours.. My 22' FX350 Husky now has 130hours, won the 24hours Numb Bum Ice race, 1x Off Road Ontario championship, some EnduroX and just did the NY 24hours....still all stock, oil and air filter changes thats it. Not a single valve ajustment yet!
The low end mellow power may be fixed by removing the rubber lid under the battery and by using the rideology app. I recently tried a couple of maps and the improvements where noticeable.
Ive got a '22. As an older 50+ vet rider i like the earlier model. Hoping Kawi fixes some of these issues soon. Then maybe ill consider a new one. Im seeing them advertised around $6k which is a great buy. Thanks guys.
Mind blowing that this brand new bike needs all this help. Kawasaki needs to get rid of their r&d team. I wanna say none of these are issues on older bikes. Not a single soul I know complained about pulling a seat to change an air filter. I’m starting to agree with Suzuki’s approach here (minus not having e-start)
So many variables with the engine mounts, fork springs, triple clamps, etc etc . Haven’t owned a kx since the tac fork engineering. My point, keep it simple friends.
I wish kawasaki made an enduro version of the kx450. the klx is just a completely different bike. maybe a headlight/taillight kit for the kx450 is the way to go :P
They've always had problems with the plastic, chain rollers, chain guide and swingarm protector. Whatever formula they're using for their plastic needs to be replaced!
Why? The bike is over $10k. A mapped vortex is around $1200, a ti F/S is roughly the same. The FCP chassis parts are around a grand, so there's another $3400 and you still need to throw what...$300(?) at Twin Air to apparently fix the major FAIL by Kawi's engineers with the air filter design(and you'd still have an airbox that doesn't bring in much air) Congrats!! You've now got yourself a $15,000(don't forget T&L) KX450 that's not even an 'SR", and you STILL need to get your suspension sprung and valved for you. If you're hell-bent on buying a bike you need to throw money at right outta the gate, why not instead get a Suzuki? From what I hear dealers were selling 'em for less than $6k at one point(meaning they will again) with a PC F/S(IIRC it was a F/S anyway). Until recently, it was the slowest and heaviest bike(by far) in the class, but guess what....? The Kawi now weighs the same, and has even less bottom end power. -OR-, you could spend several hundred dollars less for a Honda or Yamaha, and have more power, better handling, better reliability/durability, and have a chassis that doesn't try to vibrate your fillings and its bolts loose. You could alternatively spend about the same for a GG, or about a grand more for a KTM or Husky(which incidentally has I wanna say 2hp more than the next most powerful motor in the class), and have a bike that needs nothing out of the box, and will on average last longer, and require much less maintenance throughout its lifetime than its Japanese counterparts
I used to race a Suzuki RM 125, and the day before a big race, my bike blew up, but I was able to borrow a KX 125 from a friend. That bike handled like crap and I felt like I was sitting on top of a skyscraper. I couldn't get it to corner for the life of me, and the brakes were a joke. You couldn't pay me to ride one of these.
So let me get this straight, because your buddies poorly setup, 20+ year old kx125 was a POS, this 2024 KX450 must also be a POS...man, wait until you learn about 1990s KTMs .
Blows me away that the KTM group is the only manufacturers that can devise a reasonable air filter setup.
And all 3 KTM group bikes use a different airbox. Stupid but they had to have the KTM be the raciest.
Yamahas lol
@@mfronczak238not bad, but anything that falls off the filter during a change still goes straight down the intake.
@@slidewide1999or water
Ya that is crazy. Ktm/wp/pankl have made stupid mistakes over the years (ktm fan). I wonder how they havent screwed this up yet.

Good stuff Josh and Josh! These are the suggestions the consumer needs... Thanks for all that you guys do!
Thanks for sharing this, this is actually the dream for KX450 lovers

The works connections skid plate on my machine was the best investment made...in 2000😂
The good old days!
Have you guys ran fcp mounts on a 21-24 crf450?
"I'll tell ya this bike has a lot of problems. And what it needsto fix them is a bunch of expensive parts from our sponsors"
LMFAO

what website u guys get all this from! i have the 50anniversary kx
What Model Rinaldi tire on the rear ? Was using AT 81, but they are discontinued and l don't like the new AT 82 "s price or performance!
I agree with you, I’m Loving the rinaldi rs47 front and rear for moto. Also your wallet will thank you 😂
So that’s what Jmo did to my Husky front brake! Thee old MPPL trick 🤣
15 hr clutch?? I have 117 hrs on my stock tc 125 clutch. Works great. And im too big for a 125 and clutching all the time.
But 15 h of riding hard? or just using it?

Don't over tighten your rear fender bolts or just swap them for zip ties. Buttery style😂

What is power flow?
It takes big juevos to enter that race in the first place, but to go for Larocos leap is a different story. It sucks when you come up short.
Kawi always gets ripped in the quality/durability department
That was funny
They cheap out on simple things. The rebates on them are more than enough to fix the small issues
They've always had problems with the plastic, chain rollers, chain guide and swingarm protector. Whatever formula they're using for their plastic needs to be replaced!
Get yourself a Hinson Oil Fill Plug.
Bike is 5999 all over the place right now..
MSRP on ol green is ridiculous.
Just got a 24kx450. 14500 out the door.
Dude that airbox design is identical to the cabin filter on my wife’s minivan 💩
Dude..
It seems like; If you have to add rake to the front end and run the rear wheel all the way back... That thing's not stable in the first place😅
Team green ☝🏽

Best way to tune a 2024 kx450 don’t buy it buy a left over 2023 kx 450
All the things they are changing to try and make it a 23 " steering rake and trail 😊
So basically everything that kawi factory made, you guys unmade.
its not like Kawasaki factory riders are on stockers, every bike has flaws and MXA presents solutions
Mr. Fout needs to get out of the Sun ! 😮 Looks like Red Man 😅
Gotta burn to bronze baby!!

MXA, you're kidding... The KX 450 is the best 450 six years in a row. Ask Dirt Bike or McGrath.

@OtisFlint I had a '90 KTM, and I liked it. It wasn't a Suzuki, but it was world's better than anything Kawasaki put out. Once a turd always a turd.
That was 20 years ago.
A lot of this has to do with the size of the rider. This makes sense if you are a shorter rider. The Kawi always is a great fit for taller riders...
@tactical1224 This makes perfect sense because I was 5' 5" 135lbs and that thing was ridiculously tall.
A clutch every 10 hours? Wtf haha
Keefer says every 6 or so on his Yamaha. I really think it’s more about the rider than parts quality. Apparently Roczen is super easy on clutches.
I probably have 80 hours on mine lmao
The new Yamaha 250f is said to need new cam chain every 10 h. That's way to early in my opinion.
Pro racers change clutch between motos. They ride bikes the way meant to be ridden
Do you think that KX450 will still be a functioning machine 24 years later? Hell no. It takes a two-stroke for that
Agreed. Bikes haven’t gotten better since the mid 2000’s for probably 95% of consumers.
Who keeps a bike for 24 years 😂 that’s not very safe on track
@@gateneller9465 i have a 89 KX500 that is cleaner and more sorted than any bike not sitting on a showroom floor....so that is 35 years
This is silly 😂

Shame on you Kawai. Added weight and doggy engine and suspect reliability. You guys forced me to another color
Your loss.. I own one love it.. coming off 20 450 fx. Kawi much better in my opinion.
Sounds like it needs alot….
