    What is the best GPU for rendering V-ray using Maya and 3D MAX . In this video I test single and dual RTX3070, 3080 and 3090 GPU for rendering scenes with V-Ray
    This is par3 of a series of videos where I test gpu render in 3D software like Blender, Maya and 3D max with Redshift, Vray and Cycles.

    Man I'm so glad I found this channel. Finally someone's catering to productivity over gaming. I'm really curious to know how a single RTX 4080 would compare to a RTX 3090 in Vray

    At last the we have a video on TH-cam with V-ray GPU comparison! Thank you a lot! I have an idea for a cool comparison! Can we have a look at CPU vs GPU? What is more efficient at speeds and cost CPU or GPU? Thanks once again for the great content!!!

      Hi Daniel, this is a good topic for a video but it is my understanding that the GPU and CPU do not produce the same image quality, So this will be hard to compare. But I will look into this to see if I can make a video to demo the differences.

    This is a fabulous channel so thank you for the content, really useful having information and testing for studios instaed of gaming.
    I have 3 3090's and 1 3080Ti but they are not the turbo versions so stacking two in my main workstaion is not an option. I do have the others in my 3 separate cpu render nodes which are all connected via 10Gbe ethernet network.
    I use Vray & Maya and I can report that with my setup with the pirate character one 3090 in my workstation and one 3090 on one of the nodes together I get a time of 1m 10s.
    If 2 3090's and 1 3080Ti are contributing to the DR on the nodes then the time drops to 51s. The standard settings on the sample files are only set to 534px x 800px so not really a lot for GPU's to get their teeth into.
    Interestingly if I render with buckets and not progressive the time drops to 41s.
    I ran a test with the file at 4000px x 2670px and changed the Texture mode to 'On-demand mipmapping' so the texture was correct for the new resolution. This gave all 4 GPU's a good run and the time for all 4 was - 8m 24s with Progressive and 4m 35s with Buckets.

      I will try my best, you can take at my first video I made on the RTX3060ti GPU.
      But any lower level GPU (GTX1650) will work for learning and starting out in 3D software, just make sure it is a Nvidia as not all rendering software will support AMD GPUs.

    I love this channel!! I couldn't have found it at a better time. I've just built a pretty pricey workstation but was so lost on GPU's. I'm coming from a mac pro 6 core (vomit). Can we use two different GPU's in MTOA? I bought a 3060 12gb and a 3070 ti. Should I just return the 3060? The 3090 is impossible for me unfortunately due to the shortage. Couldn't even get two 3070's.

    • @MediamanStudioServices
      @MediamanStudioServices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can install two different GPUs but for render, they need to be the same. Its not that the software will not try to use both GPU, but the performance will be very bad as it is not the same config

    I've got one question, on the std motherboards there is just enough room to put these two cards in but no more, how does that effect thermals on the cards? I have dual 1080Ti's and trying to figure out if its worth it to upgrade, hobbiest.

    Hi Mike, I'm really enjoying your videos, especially because your content is not gamer focused. I'm using Topaz VEAI and would love for you to test a dual GPU setup (NVIDIA and AMD) on 1080p and 4K content v/s single GPU. My observation is that there is really no advantage to using VEAI with a dual GPU configuration. Since VEAI doesn't natively support dual GPU, I'm using two discrete video instances, one dedicated to each GPU ... and that actually brings down the render speed!! Wanted to see what's your observation.

    • @MediamanStudioServices
      @MediamanStudioServices  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi Navin, sorry I have never used Topaz VEAI. If it is truly single process, then doing two jobs if really your only workflow

    I have two video cards. One is waiting on a replacement fan and that is the 1080ti. The other is a 6900xt which I am currently using. The processor is 5950x and 64 gig 3200 trident neo ram. The motherboard is asus x570 creator wifi. Should I keep the 1080ti or sell it? I do lots of rendering and would like to decrease my render times or improve my performance but with an amd and nvidia card which cut the pcie from 16 to 8x for having two is it really worth it? Also on passmark the xt gets about 25k where the ti gets 18k. I was thinking about reinvesting in a better processor.

    • @MediamanStudioServices
      @MediamanStudioServices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ian, thanks a tough question. If it was me I would sell both GPUs and get a RTX3090 or the new RTX3080 12GB GPU. Nvidia is a way better GPU for 3D rendering. This is just the facts.
      Check out this video comparing AMD and Nvidia. th-cam.com/video/3r6TasObpRU/w-d-xo.html
      But if selling both is not an option, then keep the 6900xt

    I render with V-ray for Sketchup and with Twinmotion with Ryzen 9 5950X and PNY RTX A4000. I wonder wich GPU is a better choise in the long run. When rendering animations with hundreds of images looking at the power consumptions too. RTX 3070 Ti or a RTX A4000? It is 8GB vs 16 GB.

      I am searching for a laptop myself and I love the rtx 3070 8gb cause is very fast, but after watching tons of reviewes., and many people have recommended that even a lower gpu can make the job done beacuse it may have more vram. Not as fast ,but It wont crash. So at the benchmarks the Rtx A5000 is one of the best for complex scenes, it has more vram. 16gb is better. Hope this helps

      it all depend on what app u use, for 3d modeling in autocad or sketchup or max without rendering it may work . but for rendering its must .
      even when ur gpu is bad if you upgrade ur ram , the cpu rendering on vray can give you some better result .
